Remove Hangouts? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

I just got a Canadian Galaxy S4, I've already rooted, installed custom recovory, installed Titanium Backup and removed a bunch of other useless crap.
I'd like to remove Hangouts but I remeber from the I had my Galaxy S and S2 it would mess the phone up if I removed Google Talk. I know Hangouts replaced Talk so can I safely remove this?

I've never had problems removing it. Back it up first. If it causes issues, restore it.

Anyone know how to revert to Google Talk? Is it as simple as reflashing 20130301 gapps?

Hmmm, I tried installing as a regular apk and it didn't work. I'll try doing it manually. Thanks!

Market

Is there a way to install just the market on an ASOP rom without installing all of gapps? I've tried pushing Vending.apk to system/app/ with 2 different Vending.apk files. One file I downloaded from another thread and another file I pulled from the Gapps.zip file. Both file when I open market it just flashes a white screen and closes, no error messages or FC's it just closes. I'm interested in just installing the Market so that I can only download the apps that I want. I run my phone with very little system apps.
Thanks in advance.
The gapps zip on the CM wiki doesn't install all of the gapps if you don't choose to install them. It installs the apps you choose.

Also, why is this in development and not questions?
Thank you for the suggestion.
Also if this thread is in the wrong place someone can delete or move.
Thx

You do? Talk is always one of the first things I uninstall, and the Market works fine for me. You maybe mean it has to be there the first time you use the market, or something?

[Q] Is it safe to remove stock "Email.apk" from phone

So my Galaxy Y informs me with that annoying popup (and in the notification dropdown) saying that it's Internal Storage is getting low, I already uninstalled other bloatwares like the Dual Clock app but the notification still stays there.
When I'm looking for another bloatwares -that are installed as system apps- to uninstall, my eyes got stuck at the "Email" (Email.apk) app. It eats 5 MB of my Internal Phone storage and I'm going to remove it, but some guys here (in XDA Forums, of course) said that it's not safe to uninstall this (like on this thread), while some other guys said it's safe to remove (like here and here, I got those links from XDAForums user, forgot their usernames though)
So, hey guys, have anybody of you ever tried to remove this Email.apk? Does uninstalling it will break something? I really need to get answer from people who have experience with this so I can do this with no doubts and worries, thanks!
When I first tried to get my stock rom deodexed, I did remove that email.apk and nothing went wrong with it.
I suggest that if your guts says no, it be best if you just disable it with titanium backup or the like.

Oh yeah it's super safe.I also remove unecessary apps after flashing stock.

You could have used multi quote.
Your device must be rooted.
Then you can use simple app like link2sd or any file explorer like root explorer/es file maneger to remove those apps

[Q] Flashed CM10.1 but don't have GMail, Chrome, YouTube and other default apps?

TItle says it all... is this normal--- first time flashing CM10.1 or any other ROM for that matter. How do I get these "default" apps back?
Your going to get scalded for not reading the instructions on the cm thread or website... Go download the Google apps it's posted in the development section in many of the roms then flash from your recovery

I had the same issue recently, no idea why they didn't install properly. But when I restored my applications when it just goes through and installs them one by one from the market they all came back.

Look at the apk's in the Gapps zip so you know what's being installed, many are NOT included since they're available on Play. This is normal.

Do you have Play, News and Weather or Talk in your app drawer? If so, you've successfully flashed Gapps. The rest of the "apps" installed are various sync adapters, etc...

Ok I restored to a previous backup before I flashed CM10.1 ...
They are not included in cm's gapps. Download them from play store...
Skickat från min Nexus 4
after you flash cm10
if you have playstore then just download the apps your missing thru the play store
if you dont understand what people are telling you
i suggest you go back and re read the instructions on how to flash a rom
Why wouldn't they include them? Thats stupid (in my opinion)... now I have to figure out what apps came stock on my phone- and how do I delete some of the apps that came installed with CM10.1?

Because they're available on Play, so most "official" gapps packages don't include them.
They don't come with the ROM because CM doesn't want to get sued by Google, and they're not part of AOSP.

If you think it is "stupid" dont use cm10 then and go find another rom.
is it really that hard to redownload the apps? or just make a damn backup an restore it
and either uninstall the apps. or use titanium backup to uninstall any app you want.
i would say search XDA for your answers, before this turns into 20 questions.

Unable to click install button from apk file

I am currently running the latest paranoid android Rom on my nexus 4 using Franco's milestone 2 kernel. I am having problems installing apps that I downloaded (e.g., Adobe flash update). What happens is I can see the installation screen with the different permissions, but I cannot click on the install button. It works when I install apps from the play store but not through root browser, astro, es explorer. I have tried other apks to make sure it's not just that one file. As well, I had even removed those dimmer apps like twilight and lux before installing. I also stopped the running applications and then tried installing. I'm stumped and I have no idea what to try next. Maybe there is another uncommon app that I need to uninstall before installing off my card...
If anyone has any suggestions, that would be greatly appreciated.

you can not install adobe flash from the play store, flash does not support android 4.2.2. yoy would need to install it from the adobe site list of past flash updates. same with any other app from the play store that doesnt support the nexus 4 or the right android version.
