I hope someone can help me please. I tried rooting and installing TWRP on my Sprint GS4 using galaxys4root.com method for firmware MF9 version. First I had trouble getting the drivers installed but apparently I finally did. Downloaded TWRP, Superuser andCF-Auto-Root-jfltespr-jfltespr-sphl720.zip per the instructions. Connected to Odin in download mode and the phone "passed" Flashed TWRP and the phone rebooted. Disconnected the data cable shut phone down and attempted to reboot in download mode to install superuser and the CF-Auto_root file. Volume up,home button and powerkey. When the small blue type appeared at the top left of the screen I released all 3. Didn"t go into TWRP. I got the android guy on his side with "error" underneath him. Any ideas? Thanks for your help in advance.
You did it in the wrong order.
Run CF-Autoroot first.
This also installs SuperSU
D/L Root Checker Basic and GooManager from the playstore.
Install TWRP from the menu, "Install OpenRecoveryScript"
Reboot into recovery mode.
Most people prefer TWRP 2.5.0.2 as 2.6.0.0 seems to hang on the S4
You don't have to hold the home button. With the phone off hold volume up and the power button as soon as soon as the phone vibrates let go of the power button but continue to hold volume up as soon as you see the blue text let go of volume up. You have to be very quick hold the volume up too long after the blue text and our won't work. That should get you into recovery as long as it's installed correctly.

If that doesn't work try pulling the battery and then try to boot into recovery.

Triangle App - Problem Resolved...
Please forgive me for hijacking this thread...I am new to the site and not allowed to post to [2013.07.29][ROOT] TriangleAway v3.01 where this was originally discussed.
I have a Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4. I rooted and installed TriangleAway v3.01. When I executed the program, it told me that it had to run a modified bootloader. It did this and then came up with a screen that has the Android Beetle and "Downloading...Do not turn off target??"
It has been on this screen for almost an hour now and I am at a loss as to what to do. Can anyone who has run TriangleAway v3.01 on their Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 give me a hand?
More info...
In the top left corner of the screen it has:
Odin Mode
Product Name: SPH-L720
Current Binary: Custom
System Status: Official
CSB-Config-LSB: 0x30
Write Protection: Enable
Well, I went ahead and held down the power button until the phone booted. It came back up with a message that said TriangleAway could not find the data it needed and to reboot using the vol. down button.
I did that and the phone rebooted as normal so at least I didn't brick my phone. I went back through the process and the app actually said to do exactly what I did...so I must have read too fast the first time around and missed it.
TIA
With the phone off hold volume up and the power button as soon as soon as the phone vibrates let go of the power button but continue to hold volume up as soon as you see the blue text let go of volume up.

Okay, so I'm not completely new to all of this. I own other android devices and have rooted and flashed them..
However, I recently got the AT&T S4 (SGH-I337), and due to my own fault, I mistakenly clicked on and flashed the wrong kernel to my phone. It will not boot. It just sits with a black screen while it vibrates every 3 seconds, non stop. I cannot enter recovery, nor does any logo appear.
I have only been able to enter the Odin Mode and already attempted to use the stock rom located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2261573
I have also tried downloading the files from the Sammobile.com website.
Odin goes through the process of flashing the stock rom and successfully finishes the process each time. It still does not boot and only vibrates.
I have also tried Kies; however it says that my SGH-I337 doesn't support initializing.
I truly am at a loss, here. I have been up literally all night searching the forums and various websites. Odin seemed to work for most, and for those that it didn't, they were able to enter recovery to do a reset.
So in short..
Phone only vibrates and doesn't boot or show logo.
I have already flashed the stock rom using odin.
I cannot enter recovery.
I have tried pulling the battery and entering recovery.
Is there anything that can be done at this point, besides taking it to AT&T?
Which kernel did you flash?

I mistakenly downloaded the Ktoonsez kernel for the S3 for Touchwiz JELLYBEAN 4.1.2.
It failed, but hasn't worked since. I did, however, flash the stock kernel with odin, but that still has done nothing, even though it said it was successful.
So does anyone have any idea what can be done? I'm open to suggestions!

Yep Sure Do...
1st If your able to boot to Odin and you see the download screen your not bricked...
Also the window for entering recovery is very short with the keys so continue to try...
1. Do you have a stock or custom recovery?
2. Do you have any back-ups on your SD card?
let me just say I ran into a problem few days back with a similar problem...
Please answer questions and we will get to next step.... DON'T PANIC!!!:good:

I've used odin at least 5 times. Getting into download mode isn't the problem. All i have to do is hold the Volume Down button while it's doing its infinite vibrate ever 3 seconds.

I did. That is the folder that I copied to my computer.
The key is getting into recovery...
Make sure you are using the right key format...
1. Hold Power Volume UP and Center key at the same time
2. when you see the Blue recovery words... split second release power and center key hold volume up for another split second
3. release volume up then hold down again
If you do not go into recovery you missed the window... try again

Okay, well that's the problem. It's only a black screen. No logo or blue letters pop up. I have been into recovery mode several times, so I know what I need to do.. It's just not possible with how the device is currently behaving. As soon as I put the battery in, the phone vibrates after 3 seconds, then repeats every 3 seconds. There is no logo, or lettering. The screen never turns on. The only times the screen turns on is when i enter Download Mode.
once your in recovery...
TWRP breaks up parts of the back-up
Remember in this step you are not trying to restore....
try to install each section of the back-up this will clear your frigged up partition
I do not know which is corrupt so its trial and error...
It will state that the flash was unsuccessful but it does flash enough to clear your corrupt area!!!

Have tried ODIN flashing CWM or TWRP and not the stock rom?
I was unsatisfied with Safestrap( Only a few roms would work for me and the wifi never worked), so I uninstalled it using the built in uninstaller in the app. I installed ROM manager and installed CWM from it. I rebooted my phone and CWM and system reboot to the " Unauthorized software installed" screen, only download mode works. I attempted to install the stock firmware from Odin but it would say fail (auth). Nothing I do on Odin is working. What do I do?
After installing either the AMDL or AMDB it either says "Can't open the serial(COM) port." or "fail(auth)", always on the first step.
By AMDB or AMDL I mean the md5 files

Have you read anything that is posted in the forum? Considering everything in your above post has been covered many times (and you didn't follow the information already posted), I would say you have not. So the answer to your question, "What do I do?", is to take the time and read about what you should have done and what is now available for you to try. Start by reading the "pinned" threads in the General and Q&A section and then read any thread with "MF3" or "safestrap" in the title. You can also use the search function of the forum to find more information. Good luck.

I'll tell you this if you didn't manually uninstall SS you still have it.
Pull the battery and before putting the battery in hold the power and volume down ,let go of the power button and hold volume down it will go back to the unauthorized ATT screen again.now push volume down it should go to boot up and you should see the SS splash screen. Hit our menu button at that splash screen and it should go to SS recovery. I have done this plentty of times

Like for example when do i put the battery back in?
U put the battery back in wile holding the power and volume down.give it a couple of seconds and let go of the power but still hold the volume down till the unauthorized ATT screen comes up.press the down option and it will boot in my case the custom with unlock icon followed by the SS splash screen. I'm trying to respond to you lol
Give me a couple minutes.
Did you get the message? if not i'll just put it here.
So the problem here is that my phone won't enter recovery mode. I think it's because it's deleted. I installed safestrap and did a factory wipe but it gave me errors(something about datamedia/media) so i just deiced it's best to deal with it in the morning, so i rebooted. The phone stayed on my boot logo(Samsung Custom) and then things started to get worse. I hold the 3 buttons to boot into recovery, only problem is that the blue "entering recovery mode" text shows up for a split second and then gives me the android figure you would see if you were in download mode for another split second and then reboots.
I know that MF3 is having some flash problems so i can't flash the stock rom because i already tried with 2 different stocks rom. I also already tried to use the custom pit files that were used to fix the bootlop issue with kies or whatever (adonis.pit, MF3_BTL_FIX and SGS_I337_16GB), which came out with no luck.
If you can help me out with that then i'd be more than happy to make a skype call.
i've been searching for roms, and i downloaded a rom that need to reboot, after it switched off my mobile and switched it on again, i've been stuck at the boot logo ever since. im using Kingo Android Root to root my phone, any good suggestions to help me solve this head wrenching problem?

I was trying to root my Galaxy Note 3, KitKat, SM-N900T with Odin 3.9. Everything went fine and I got the PASS! message. I disconnect the phone and I expected the automatic booting. That never happened. The screen started to flash the RECOVERING ROOTING (blue), RECOVERING IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING (red) and SET WARRANTY BIT : RECOVERY(yellow). Nothing that I did after that worked to get rid of those messages. I wonder if my new phone is bricked now or if I have a chance of recover it. Taking the battery out and putting in again plus holding all the buttons doesn't stop the messages from flashing. Please help!

Thank you for the suggestion but no idea how to do it with a phone stuck in the booting screen. Any help on how to get rid of it? Once that is done then I can proceed with your steps.
Take the battery out, put back in (dont turn back on)and hold volume up, home and power button. It'll take you into download mode.
Then flash your stock ROM via Odin

It just keeps bootlooping you mean?
Keep trying to get into download mode, might be that you're catching the power button first and powering the phone back on.
Can you get into recovery ? Volume down and power/home button.

Try this.
Remove and put battery back in, don't power on.
Hold Vol Down + Power + Home Button all at the same time until the warning message comes up then let go of the buttons. Finally press Vol Up only and you'll be in download mode. Connect phone to usb.
Flash this CF Auto root courtesy of Chainfire thru odin. Not sure if CF updated it for 4.4 but one poster said it worked for him on his Tmo.
Optionally flash a custom recovery cause you will have a stock recovery after rooting.

however, against all judgement I tried it with the sm9005 instead of the sm900t file and it passed into the orange pirate root guy, however it gets stuck at the boot logo, do you guys have any Idea what could be wrong?

HI there, guys! I just read the whole thread and maybe you can help me also! I'm facing a less critical, but similar problem.
I use Omega ROM (Android 4.3 yet) and just after a reboot my device is stuck at boot animation forever. The only thing I did before rebooting was freeze S Finder using Titanium Backup (after it was enabled again because Samsung updated it a few days ago) and move some apps to SD Card using Clean Master.
The critical part is that I can't enter Recovery Mode to try to solve wiping caches because my Reactivation Lock feature is enabled, so I can't access it.
Is there anything I can do except from flashing stock ROM over Omega itself? I can't lose my files on internal storage. There are pretty important ones! =/

Hi Guys,
I think I messed up my Note 3, SM-N900W8. on 4.3 I thought I would give Kingo Root a try to root my phone. Everything seemed to go well until it got stuck in Odin Mode screen , " Downloading, Do not turn Target Off". Been on this screen now for more than 3 hours.
How do I get out of this screen. Not sure how to proceed from here. I hope I did not mess up my phone.
Info on screen: Current Binary- Samsung Official
System Status- Custom
Reactivation Lock- OFF
Knox Kernel Lock- 0x0
Knox Warranty Void- 0x0
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Man!!!
You don't need to go into download mode to use kingo. You just need to enable USB debugging and plug the phone into your computer

Either remove battery or press power button for few seconds until it turns off. If you use the latter, might restart back to system.
I have a suggestion though before you try rooting with kingo. Go to general section and find post by polish_pat. It's a guide where you can update to 4.4 and your knox ( unless it's tripped already ) won't trip even after flashing custom recovery/roms and root it.

Hey_Joe and Triavq,
Thank you guys for your response. I so wanted to remove my battery this afternoon already but was skeptical that powering down will damage my phone. After removing battery she booted up fine and as it turns out I have successfully rooted my phone. I went ahead and used Root Checker and it says successfully rooted. I don't know why it sat on that screen for so many hours.
I'm just very happy that my phone is still operational. Having a successful root is just an added bonus.
I have so much to learn with regards to rooting etc. It is really information over load.
Thank you once again!!!
Cheers!!!
Glad it worked out for you, enjoy☺

I have the same problem and I want to ask the only thing you did was to take out the battery ?Nothing else because I am terrified that I am going to loose everything
Removing the battery may be the only option. If you leave it in download mode, the battery may eventually lose power and the phone will turn off. If you have data on your phone and it will not boot, you may be able to recover the data by flashing TWRP, mounting the data partition in TWRP, and copying the files over to a computer via USB.
Same problem guys. IT said root successful then phone shut off and continued to restart until I took the battery out, then I pushed volumn down power and home button and instead of taking me to the recovery screen it took to the downloading custom os screen. Said downloading all night long. Took the battery out tried turning it on it continues to restart =[[[[ any suggestions on what I can do? I cannot unroot as I cannot access my phone via phone or usb cable bc the phone will not turn on
I pushed volumn down power and home button and instead of taking me to the recovery screen it took to the downloading custom os screen.
>>> Yes that what you have done entered download mode ..
Vol down is Download mode Vol Up is Recovery
Said downloading all night long.
>>>Yes until you flash a new firmware via Odin .
Read the instructions .
Suggest recovery mode and factory reset .
You have to put the oficial ROM in your phone,
Because if y don't do that, your phone will continue in infinite loop...

Worked with an old S3 mini.
It was stuck to 99%. Not bricked but nor rooted too....I'l try the good old way, adb and bootloader unlock.
So to make a long story short this is the events that lead up to my current issue on my i9500;
1. Flashed CF Auto Root
2. Flashed philz_touch_6.48.4-i9500 recovery (worked)
3. Installed pac_i9500-nightly-20140823 via recovery
The issue I had was that my phone would randomly restart and boot loop till I pull the battery. This happened about twice in the week after loading the new rom (I was running stock 4.4.2 prior). two days ago the phone refused to boot even with pulling the battery. I eventually got into download mode by pulling the battery at the yellow triangle otherwise it just reboots. I could also not access recovery mode at all.
I have tried flashing the stock firmware (XFA - South Africa) also trying different recoveries. But the problem remains. I also cannot use ADB as it does not pick up the device.
I am wondering if this issue may be the power button that broke or if my rom/recovery could be at fault? Also what else could I try in your opinion? I feel sending it off to a Samsung repair center may be my last hope :crying:
Thanks in advance!
Could be the power button.
Doed it reboot in the download mode too?
I couldnt get that part..
Generally the random reboots are linked to the bad power button only..but there can be a lot many reasons to it.
Kernels. No proper OP prescribed method of installing roms. Or a rom issue in itself.
Depends.

Thanks for the response.
Let me try clarify some points to assist. Once I am in download mode with the battery inserted it also reboots, I have to take the battery out as I see the yellow triangle as the volume up also does not seem to function till the battery is removed.
As for the how I went about installation of the first rom, this was done via recovery. The recovery was installed via Odin. Everything worked for a few days before the boot loop issue started.

It is a power button issue.
Tap it in various directions or on any flat surface to release it
Or open up your phone and softly try releasing it..
For you have installed a knox free rom, thus knox cannot be the culprit.

It seems that I could not get the power button working again, I even tried hitting it flush o a flat surface as I have read on some sites. Guess I will send it off to Samsung on Monday for a repair.
Thanks for the assistance.

Yeah anyway it is a physical damage so the warranty isnt there..

I wanted to update this thread now that my phone is back in a working condition.
The issue was the power button. I got a local cellphone technician to replace the power button and there after flash stock firmware with a TJAG. I did contact Samsung and they said should I not have rooted my phone this would have been covered by my warranty! :crying:

Ehh what? :/ covered under warranty?
Those dumb ssc guys told one of my friend in india that it is a damage done by him so they wont change or make it okay for free. :/
Because it is a physical damage..so he gave INR1000 ($20 appx. After a heavy argument and bargaining) To get it okayed.
