Have never used it but Triangle Away is supposed to let you view the counter and reset to 0 if wanted. Works for the S4 on stock firmware. Might want to read up on it if you haven't: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1494114

The two entries that say "official" should tell you that your counter is set to zero.
Since TriangleAway does not work for MF9 the only way to know for sure is to go back to MDL.

Just because it shows Samsung Official means nothing. Samsung Official and Official mean there is nothing that has tripped that status to change since the last official install of firmware on the device that reset the status to Official after an FDR. He is correct though as to how to be positive by downgrading to MDC or MDL, rooting and checking in Triangle Away that way and then resetting it through Triangle Away even if it was at zero before due to it now saying 1 so THEN you can ODIN back to MDC or MDL, doing an FDR AMD taking whatever OTAs you wish to accept.

I am sure that the poor developer, Chainfire, is totally swamped by requests for this, but, has anyone heard about an update to Triangle Away? If that is not forthcoming, Is there by chance a video or detailed notes on how to downgrade to a previous firmware in order to run the existing version of Triangle Away? If so, would you be so kind as to include the links?

Question about binary counter for insurance issue

Hello everyone,
Today I have root my i9500 today through this topic http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/articles/4...exynos5-root-android422-xxuamde-jellybean.htm
I did this because I want to flash to another country firmware. So I root the phone and I flash it back to an official firmware. When I go to Dowload Mode to check the binary counter status, I see this :
Current binary: samsung official
System status: official
how is it possible? I thought that when we root the device once, the counter is not zero anymore, do I miss something? Is there somewhere else that showing Binary Counter? Could the Current binary be official even if the counter is not zero?
Can we reset the binary counter with Triangle Away for the i9500? People report that it works for i9505, but does someone try if it works for i9500?
Thank you in advance.
I think binary counter increases when we use twrp or cwm

It will always say 1 after each reboot if you have custom recovery, even if you could reset the counter to 0.

No, it is most probably 1. Most servicecenters however rarely check the counter. I once turned in a rooted S2 with a custom rom on it and it got fixed under warranty. They wipe it and reflash a stock rom after repair.

flashing unsigned stuff by samsung (cwm, rom..) via odin only, turn your status to custom and increase binary counter. i see that your status is official. but i think you dont have 0 count since when you rooted your phone you used odin.
if samsung look at your counter, so there is a problem

You need to find the MJA or MK2 .tar file. Once you've upgraded to 4.3, you cannot go back.

By Odin getting stuck do you mean it was failing? If so it seems that you were on MK2 4.3 and you can't go back to 4.2.2 via tar since Knox boot loader got introduced.

If you root without tripping knox then it's still good. Enter download mode to check knox. Knox 0x0 means ok
If it says 0x1 then you're boned....

If you want to get updates you need to wipe your device after flashing stock rom.... Make sure everything is backed up, go to download mode, press up volume to get to download mode and flash the rom with ODIN....
Lookup how to flash with ODIN...

Your knox counter is 0x1.
This mean that you can say goodbye to your warranty, or not. Depending on country where you live.

Most likely the warranty is gone, Knox warranty void 0x1 means you have installed unapproved software on your device. Samsung will use this to deny warranty claims...
There is no way, currently , of resetting this. The bounty, last time I checked, was over $3000 US...

Sorry for the bad news, also I wang to know, you mentioned that the stock rom for Egypt is available in sammobile and u can fladh it. But its not true as the available version for Egypt is yhe Jelly Be 4.3 and yoy can't downgrade from Kitkat 4.4.2 to Jelly Bean 4.3.

u mean i can't for now flash the 4.3 via odin,and i have to wait till 4.4.2 ?
oki what would happen if i flashed the 4.3 over the 4.4.2 and what is your warranty agent ? mine's union group and i think they don't care about that am just bothered coz i wanted to trade with a 4g version and even if u had serious problem in your mobile here in egypt they might not fix it they will easily say bad use etc like they did in s3 death of motherboard and anyway it depends on the agent
My warranty agent is MTI.
For the other inquiry, yes you can't flash the 4.3 via odin as once you upgraded to Kitkat 4.4.2 you can't go back words as the boatloader has been upgraded as well.
The warranty is useful as you might have a hardware failure and if u did some noise they will fix it for you.

[Q] Reverting back to stock

Hello everyone,
I have Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 and using CyanogenMod's installer version a few months now.
CyanogenMod's installer has A LOT of problems and I had enough of it and want to go back to stock.
Before I moved to CM I had 4.3 and also Knox bootloader so it went to 0x1 after CM's installation.
I want to ask can I go to stock 4.3 even that my Knox is 0x1?
Do I need to use TriangleAway? If so, how?
I understood that TriangleAway requires Samsung's official kernel but I have the kernel of CM now.
Anyway, what do I need to do?
Thanks in advance

Find your stock rom specifically the one that is your region. If your phone is for example like mine, i9500 XSE which is the first three letters of Indonesia then get that specific stock file.
It's probably around 1.4 gigs. It downloads very slow. After that open Odin flash the stock rom, and your good to go. I've bricked numerous times and all I've done was revert back like this. No problems.
I don't know if you can put the stock rom in your custom recovery and flash it there, I haven't tried it yet just run Odin in administrator mode, insert the stock rom, go into download mode on your phone by pressing - vol and power, then click start.
Wait.
Stock.

I may be wrong on this one but, if you use the auto CF root method I don't think there's a way to use the triangle method.
Therefore you're stuck on Knox. I could be wrong but I'm leaning on 70% being right..

You can't come back to android 4.2.2. The unique u can do is install android 4.4.2 (latest one):
1. Log and sig in Sammobile.com
2. Download and unzip this firmware: HERE
3. Flash it through ODIN (you have the instructions in the URL I pasted u)
4. If you wanna root it, u will void ur warranty (KNOX: 0x1)
I assume the firmware your on has knox, to confirm boot into download mode and see if there is a reference to KNOX.
If you have knox you can not downgrade. I know 4.3 was safe for a while before knox got implemented but can't remember the last safe knox free rom on 4.3.

I'm pretty sure I uninstalled Knox. Does that not make a difference?
What is it that Knox is doing that prevents downgrading?
Knox is an app but tied into the bootloader deep down. If you've got it in the boot loader then you can not downgrade. It's the bootloader. When knox was fully implemented it bought a new bootloader. Any one on the new bootloader can not downgrade to the old bootloader unfortunately.

If Knox brought a new bootloader, and it was released with 4.3, surely I can at least downgrade back to 4.3?
Unfortunately you can't downgrade. As 4.2.2 was on the old bootloader. As I suggested boot into download mode, volume down and power button and see if there is a knox counter. If it says knox you have the new bootloader. If there is no reference to KNOX at all then you can safely install stock 4.2.2.

I still don't understand how it is that I can't go back to 4.3, since it uses the same bootloader as 4.4.
I went into download mode and my phone said the following:
ODIN MODE
Product name: GT-I9500
Current binary: Samsung Official
System status: Official
Knox warranty void: 0
RP SWREV: A3
