Gapps and themed Gapps - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Ok so I've been wondering this for a while now and its probably a stupid question but maybe someone will help me out.
I've been flashing a ROM then suggested Gapps and then flashing project midnights aroma installer for inverted system and data apps. Is it pointless to flash the first gapp package if I'm flashing the inverts? I know some ROMs have the dark ui toggle but some of them don't invert everything like Google now and what not. My question is could I just install the ROM and the the aroma installer for the inverted gapps/apps without problem?

installing gapps on custom ROMS

When I first installed CM 11 M1 from stock kitkat, I didn't have the playstore, so I had to download the gapps package.
Ever since CM 11 M1, I've tried different custom roms, but everytime I flashed them from the custom recovery, they all came with the playstore.
Should I be installing the gapps from the package?? Or can I just install the apps from the playstore??
Either way works. From the play store you can pick and choose what you install and can be uninstalled without jumping through hoops because they install as user apps. When you flash gapps, they typically go in as system apps and are a bit more troublesome to get rid of if you don't want everything in the package.

Addition to what said above, just open the gapps package ade delete which ever apks you don't need. This way you can get rid of the apps you don't want to install as system app. To me, modular PA gapps or banks core gapps is enough. You don't need to flash full package gapps.

This is because gapps has updater script and as long as you won't manually format system your previously installed gapps will remain in a new rom. (including play store)
Installing apps from gapps package via recovery will install the apps to system partition.
Installing apps from play store will install them to user data partition.
In order to save space in user data I recommend installing the gapps you need to system partition via recovery.
Thanks for info guys :good::laugh:

[Q] Gapps in Android

Hi, for testing purposes i installed the lastest omnirom on my device (jflte).
In the installation guide it says that the gapps are installed seperately with a zip after installing omnirom (similar to cyanogenmod).
But after starting my device i noticed that gapps are actually already on my device, same for the jflte rom of cyanogenmod. In TWRP i made a complete wipe just to be sure. Did i do something wrong? I'd rather choose the gapps package i want to install or not instead having them preinstalled on my device.
So, are the gapps are really prebuilt in the custom rom i loaded? Or are there any other i missed? Anyway, is there a way for me to remove it, either removing the whole package after installation or by building a custom rom, and is there a common and safe way to do that, or is it even enough to remove only the apks.

Wipe the /system partition to remove Gapps - Omni doesn't include Gapps. Neither does CM. But both have a script that will restore your old ones from previously. Just use TWRP to wipe /system and you can do it. Or remove /system/etc/addon.d and they will be gone after a reflash

[Q] PA Gapps not installing

When I attempt to install the PA gapps, it "succeeds" but when I restart into both Alpha 1 and 2, I have none of the gapps in the stock package. I am using the zip that @TKruzze provided for 5.0.1, but Alphas 1 and 2 are 5.0.2. Would this cause the gapps not to show up? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
EDIT: It appears I was flashing things in the wrong order: I flashed gapps and then ROM (it's been a while ^^'), and also the gapps package was too large for my tiny Nexus 7's system partition.

I have problem Installed gapps

hello guys
i installed gapps and no error aEverything is normal and reboot system and Goes up rom but problem (I see a message all the time feedback )And I can not work with anything
my rom eui 5.9.26 stock ,, i installed gapps ARM64 pico
md5 not found TWRP
I think it's a problem here (md5 not fount) I see this
hellp me guys
You can also download sevices store ect from apkmirror or similar websites. If you have dirty ROM, just install again ROM and do wipe to make sure that is clean
Question: why even flash GApps when you can install the APKs manually. Don't tell me... does eUI prevent installing GApps through the ROM, thus forcing you to flash them?

Gapps...

What's the difference btwn GZR gapps and open gapps....
I have googled everything and get nothing...
After searching there is a new gapps confused me i.e., bean gapps
Please give me a clarity of these all gapps mainly GZR and opene gapps...
And also which gapps are better...?
GZR gapps is ground zero roms gapps. Some custom roms prefer gzr gapps than opengapps. The required gapps will be mentioned in the op of corresponding roms
As @william.johhn7! said....
GZR are Ground zero gapps.
Bean Gapps are also there.
As far as I understand they have difference in package building method which I don't know if affects the quality or performance much.
Open Gapps are mostly used but sometimes there are also some devs who tell you to flash specific gapps but even still I have flashed Open Gapps without any problem.
As for which Gapps are better It depends on your preference if you like all apps from google in your device or not. I always use Pico Gapps because we can always install any gapp we need from play store. And sometimes stock gapps can cause problems too which never happened with me btw.
And finally there is also another gapps called "Micro Gapps" which are not the Micro Open Gapps but something else. "Micro Gapps" doesn't have Any app of google. Not even play store. Basically It stared as a thought "Let's free pure Android form Google's bloatwares" As far as I know they will only sync your contacts from google nothing else will be there.
