I have a couple of questions about my grandpa's Nook. We got him a new card and I have been able to get it to work. It wasn't as easy as it reads to be.
I can't get the wireless to stay set to turn on. When you shut down the Nook and then start it again later, you have to go into settings and turn on the WiFi. But if it goes into sleep most of the time it will turn back on and only once in a while stays off. I have looked through the settings and tried changing some of them, but none have worked so far.
It has a 8GB SD card that we got the cyanogen on. It says it only has 1 gb of storage when you check it in cyanogen. Can I make this larger? Can I put a movie in for Grandpa and get it to play? How do I do this?

I also had this problem. It is easily solved. From the CM7.2 MiRaGe thread:

I got my HTC Universal yesterday, hence the newbie tag, feel free to point me at any wiki or faq that will help me, my first most pressing issue is that if the phone sleeps (i.e. left for a few minutes in battery mode) it forgets that the SD card is inserted and after waking it i have to eject and reinsert. I can live with reinserting after a restart or soft reset but this is really annoying. How can i get around it?
Edit Solved : Turned out to be a dodgy SD card and nothing wrong with the HTC!

Welcome to the forum
Try to install Advanced Config, with that app you can turn of the disable sleep mode for SD but your battery will suffer the consequences, I have not that problem
Good luck,
And dont forget to vote!
I've figured out how to turn on/off sleep mode now and have got the hang of that but it'd still be great for it to auto-detect the SD card on waking from sleep, even if i have to run a tiny teeny app (via shortcut!) to force it to notice it, instead of having to physically unclick, wait, click, wait to use the sd card.
To conserve power i basically keep it in standby 90% of the time - as i don't use it as a phone - so this is actually a bit annoying.
Have you tried changing the SD-Type in Settings\System\SD Settings?
There is no "SD Settings" in Settings/System
(Windows Mobile 5.0
Version 5.1.159
Build (14847.2.0.0))
Do you use a SDHC Card?
install a sdhc driver may solve the problem
No, normal SD card
Hi, does anyone experience the same thing? HD2 turns off and can't be turned on again. Have to remove the battery for it to be able to turn on, it looks like its stuck in power saving mode.
it is also known as the 'sleep of death' by the xda-people.
just go find a better ROM or radio or check which app is causing the issue.
or do a search. Im sure youll come up with lots of solutions since its quite a common problem.
It shouldn't be hard
good luck

Could it be the below setting that is the cause.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=585289Start > Settings > Menu > All Settings > Today > Items
The setting "Today timeout", at the bottom left hand corner,
should not be selected/enabled.
Hi, thanks for that little info. Yes it was enabled, will see if it does it again. Had it since November and never had any issues, but to turn on the phone I had to remove the battery.
Will see thanks.
My phone switches off almost every day now and sometimes several times in one day. I've used about 6 different Artemis roms (I don't think it's rom related) and various radios and also tried MemMaid but still no success. Have just switched back to 8GB from my 16GB card in case that is the problem. Update:switched from 16GB to 8GB card and phone has not switched itself off.
In my CM7, the wifi has turned off, and won't turn back on. Airplane mode is not on. I click on turn on wifi and it won't find any signals, even though in reg NC mode it finds them fine. I click on "Scan" and it still doesn't find anything. My android side is pretty useless without wifi, so have been back in reg NC mode mostly, and I miss using CM7 and reading horizontally using the Nook app rather than only vertically. Any ideas?
bumping this - still no wifi
What version of cm7 are you using and are you running off internal or sd card?

FWW...
I got this yesterday...running 136 nightly off of SD...First time I have seen this I overclock to 1200 and use stock voltages. What I did was to create a new wireless site. Using same data as router already configured. This seemed to force the wireless to search and all of sudden my other wireless sites became active. I had tried everything else up to that point. Including Bluetooth on and off rebooting multiple power offs...
It's 7.0.3 and runs off of the 16gb SanDisk card. Still no wifi...
I had this issue today. I clicked on each of the saved wifi networks and clicked forget for each of them. Once they were all removed wifi scan worked again.

Just toggle "Airplane Mode" on and off again. It helps for me.
Whenever I turn on or reboot, a box comes up, "Mobile Data" telling me what I already know, "Mobile data connection is currently disabled. You need to connect Mobile data to use data applications, such as Browser, Email, and You Tube via Mobile network. Do you want to make the connection?"
This box appears with or without sim card, WiFi on or off, but whenever I boot or reboot. The only time the box doesn't come up, is when mobile data is on, which you can't do, without having the sim card installed.
To eliminate box on boot, leave sim card inserted with mobile data on. I have a Samsung Note, same conditions, there has never been a box pop up at boot or reboot. Easy to click cancel button go move on, but box is irritating, so would like to make it simply go away when device is booted!
No One?
No one has experienced this on their P6800?
I get the same thing - SIM card inserted but data turned off, receive a popup when booting.
It's only one tap to dismiss, and how often are you rebooting anyway! Mildly annoying, but not a big issue for me...
Agree
Not a big deal, yet same setup for Tab's little brother, the Note, and no box. Perhaps the difference between Gingerbread 2.3.6 and Honeycomb 3.2. It still would be nice to not have that box pop up whenever booting/rebooting.

Hoping that root developer can find a way to fix it..

I am not rooted. But I also get this dialog. I would love to disable it.
Anyone figure this out yet? Extremely annoying, especially when using honeybar.
I also have it, but since I'm so used to it, my fingers automatically hit cancel lol yep, I would like to disable this as well specially when using honeybar
First off let the say that I am very technically challenged... I seem to be having a problem w/ my Razr M is that my wifi keeps going off numerous times a day, the other things that use wifi in my home don't have this problem so don't think it is the router, I was told by someone to hard boot it, I'm have a h**l of a time doing that as it seems not to want to do that every time, now to clarify I am pressing both volumes and the power buttons and when my son found this forum and also another site it said to only press the lower volume one and power but when I did that all it did was take a screen shot.. I didn't find out till it was to late that the battery can't be taken out by me. Also what's up w/ an sd card I put one in but it won't transfer my apps to it? I had games on my other phone but when I couldn't put them on sd I just took all those off and put on my tablet. I only use about 3 apps any way, no music no signing on the internet, no FB or twitter, main reason is that I can't see little things that well so do those type of things on PC, if it wasn't for using a few apps to make a few buck(& GCs) to supplement my fixed income I wouldn't have even bought a smart phone.
So hopefully someone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated

regarding the WiFi - go to settings -> Wi-Fi -> advanced and UNCHECK "Avoid poor connections"; also make sure you have the latest update, as that update supposedly improved signal strength (go to settings -> about phone -> baseband version. if prior to May 2013, then you are NOT on the latest update
regarding apps, this is a feature of the operating system (Android Jelly Bean) - so moving apps is not possible.

Sorry I forgot to mention that it was flashed for a prepaid carrier, guess that might make a difference. I did the setting thing already,
I am getting an update which I figure must be from "phone" but it won't install, it comes up many times a day, as the only options I have is later & install but since I hit install first time I saw it and it wouldn't I just now hit later. So any thing I can try for the hard boot?

a hard reboot will not remove the notification. I presume the phone has NOT been rooted nor bootloader unlocked?
to perform a hard reboot, trying pressing and holding down the power button for 3 seconds. if all you see is a power off, then choose that. wait about one minute, then turn it back on.

I have to guess not as I really don't know.....
Did jelly bean change what you can do w/ apps, I had my apps on the sd card when I had a Droid X
well all the 3 seconds do is turn the phone off of which I have done a number of time, it doesn't do any thing, wifi will come back on it's own at some point don't know how long between off & on as I don't see it come back

oh, you mean a hard RESET? that could do it, but you would lose all of your data (anything not saved to the external card - which could include photos). it would be like you just got a new phone. but I'm not so sure a hard reset would do the trick. however, if you have the time and don't mind, then perform a hard reset: it's under settings - not sure where as I'm on 4.2.2 now, but look for backup/restore or security -> factory reset
but before that, contact VZW - they may suggest a "safe mode"
yes, JB disabled the ability to move apps to the external card, as they felt the phone would run smoother with the apps stored in the internal storage.
