I was texting when suddenly my phone became very slow and I decided to restart it, since it didn't restart as quickly as it usually does, I took off the battery and put it back. Tryed to turn on the phone but it just lights up the central button and vibrates a single time, and the screen doesn't light up or anything... how do I fix it?
Try to use a different battery. My battery died in the same maner

I'm using G2 for two month. It's crashed like 5 times.
It's like when I try to wake it with power button, no response.
Opening keyboard, nothing.
So I first thought the battery ran out somehow. Connected to charger, no light.
I thought it's totally dead. but found if i once take off the battery and return it then press power, it turns on.
I wonder if it's hardware or some app causing this.
any way to diagnose?
Use Logcat from ADB.

I currently have a stock standard SGS3, when i put the phone on charge, and leave it the green led eventually shows, i then press the power button to wake the phone and i see a green battery. At this point i cant do anything swiping doesnt do anything and the phone then shows a black screen. I then need to restart the phone. Has anyone else experiencing this issue?

It sounds like your charging the phone while it's switched off. Just put it on the charger without turning it off.

Thats the problem the phone is switched on while charging.

when the "green battery" shows, reclick (hold) the power button again, it should boot.
When the phone is off and you charge it , it shows that animation.

Thanks I have no problem booting the phone from the green battery icon. My problem is that i charge the phone while it is on and for some strange reason it switches off when it is fully charged, surely this is not normal.
I normally leave my phone charging overnight and when i wake it the morning i have to reboot from the green battery screen
This does not happen all the time, and i'm using the standard samsung charger
Your phone may have a problem due to excess charging where something freeze it down after the normal three hour charge .
See what happens on a normal charge .
Otherwise return under warranty .

Hello. I've had nexus for a few weeks now. Tonight i was surfing the Web and the screen started blinking on and off rapidly. It finally shut off. Now it will not boot. I tryed getting into the bootloader by holding volume up and down and power. I get nothing. If I plug it into the charger... The battery icon comes on the screen but that's it. If my nexus fried? Is there anything else I can do?

Screen blinking rapidly on and off? I'd call Google. I'm sure they would send out a replacement.

Yeah I called them. I they are sending a replacement. I have to pretty much pay for a new one untill they get the old one back.
This really sucks. What could this be?

I've had my nexus freeze while using chrome a few times. All I do is hold the power button until it reboots. Has worked for every time.
The flickering screen does not seem normal. Glad google is giving you a replacement.

I've had the exact same problem as OP. I was browsing in Chrome when the backlight started flickering. Wearing headphones but with no sound, I was able to hear faint static that correlated with the darkness of the screen (when the screen was dim mid-flicker, noise was produced). I had it set to a specific brightness setting, so I switched to automatic using the drop-down settings menu. The problem persisted. I did not exit Chrome. I tapped the power button which gave a normal enough looking fade out. After about 5 seconds I tapped the power button again to power the device on. The Chrome screen I had been looking at when I powered the screen off flashed briefly on my screen accompanied by a bit of static and a slight pop, and the device went black. I have not gotten a response from the device since except for, like OP, when the device is plugged into the wall. Then I only get a battery icon with a lightning bolt for 1 second every time I push the power button.
After calling the warranty information number, Google is sending me a replacement device. They do not make you pay $400 (in my case, as I had the 16Gb) but authorize a payment of that amount so that if you do not return the device within 21 days they are not left high and dry. Seems reasonable to me.
Anyway, just adding my experience with this issue to the forum. OP is not the only one to get this symptom!
I just got this same issue. Was reading my news feeds on Google Reader, it seemingly froze up for a few seconds, then the screen started flickering when touched, and finally went black. Device is non-responsive except when plugged in, where it'll display the battery icon for a few seconds.
I do not know if this is related, but I was also having the charging glitch where it would power down with "0% battery" when plugged in or unplugged seemingly at random, and the long wake-up issue.
Now I am trying to get the device awake enough to be recognized by my pc so i can adb backup my data, but so far I am getting nowhere T.T

Sounds like a hardware issue almost.
I would maybe try connecting the phone via USB to pc. Pull battery and and replace. Then try booting into download mode. Open Odin and check if the device is recognized.

doesnt sound like a brick... truth being, its almost rare " hard bricking " samsung galaxys.. soft bricking is very common.. i bricked a HTC EVO a few years ago... symptoms: press power.. blue light blinks and the shuts off.... pop out batt, plug in, usb to pc....all do nothing....
sounds like somehow there is a batt problem.... TAKE OUT BATT... LAY it on a super flat serface.. now try and spin it!!! or does it rock around like its uneven?... means the batt is swollen in the middle and is no good... that maybe ur prob.

thanks.
battery spins like a turntable.
both my batteries spin like a stripper actually.....
i have used 3 different computers, countless usb cables and ports.
i used my friends battery to make sure it wasnt my batteries, phone still doing the same thing.
its so odd.
it was working perfectly fine.
now when i put the battery in, it automatically turns on, but only for a split second.
then it turns off.
i know its not suppose to turn on automatically, but i cant even get it into download mode because it shuts off within seconds.
im at a loss
Well.. if you have insurance, call them and tell them the device just stopped working... they will fedex you another overnight.. all for a 100.00 deductable....thats a way out.

I have seen similar stories from people that had defective power buttons. what if you hold the vol down button when you insert the battery, does it behave differently?
Hi, I have a Google Nexus 4. For some reason, the phone will not turn on. It is fully turned off, but charges properly. When connected to charger, it displays the battery charging icon, but when you hold down the power button, nothing happens. The battery seems to be charging properly and the display seems to be fully functional as well. There is no root done on the phone or flashing. The phone has never been worked on before, does anybody have any suggestions as to what it could be? The power button clicks properly but I cannot turn on the phone at all, please help.
How much is the battery percentage? And is your notification light blinking red? And when was the last time you used the phone and what was the last thing you did?
The last time i used my phone was over 8 months ago, the battery indicator on screen shows around 80% which was definitely charging, it was dead to begin with and i left it charging for an hour nd a half before attempting to turn it on. There was no red light on the notification that is typically set when the phone is on and charging. The phone is completely turned off. And when charging doesn't show a light.
