[Q] I cant update, goes into restart loop! - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I am trying to solve for weeks, tried a lot of roms but still could not manage.
My phone is huawei u8800. Kernel 2.6.32.9
buildnumber u8800v100r001c00b138sp04
It is 2.2.2
I click online upgrade in about phone menu but it cant find anything to upgrade.
I install cwm and flashing a new rom, for example b518 2.3 but after installing, it restarts after loading logo and this goes on. And everything is wiped, cwm is wiped after this and i have to go into android recovery to solve this. I reset wipe data and if i am lucky, i can open phone in 2.2.2. If not, it makes me to try to go back to.
I dont know how this happened first. I was using aurora then i wanted to go back to stock rom. I made also partition and maybe this is the reason.
In cwm, it cant mount ext sd so i have to + - and power to upgrade.
Please help me to solve this. I tried a lot of things but couldnot manage.

Anyone helps? I am waiting helps, thank you

OK. I just recently got stuck in the same situation and this is how I solved it:
1. Download and install official B517: http://www.mediafire.com/download/vh3aqdx5608ubb8/U8800V100R001C00B517G001+%28Beta1.0%29%28Overseas+Normal%29%28Gingerbread%29.zip
2. After installing, if it boots then that is good, but if it doesn't boot then it still doesn't matter. Mine didn't boot, so I went into pink screen by turning off the phone, and then pressing vol +, vol -, and power at the same time to go into pink screen.
3. When you go into pink screen, connect your phone to Windows PC (Windows 7 or 8 should work).
4. Download cwm recovery 6.0.2.8: https://code.google.com/p/forumber-projects-for-u8800/downloads/detail?name=recovery-clockwork-6.0.2.8-2.6.35.7-u8800.img&can=2&q=
5. When you connect pink screen phone to computer, a removable disk will come up. Go into the removable disk and you will see recovery.img there. Now, rename the cwm recovery you downloaded above to recovery.img (if you cannot see .img at the end then just type recovery). After renaming to recovery.img, copy the downloaded cwm recovery.img to the removable disk, and replace the old recovery.img in the removable disk.
6. After replacing stock recovery.img with cwm recovery.img, you will have CWM Recovery 6.0.2.8. Now, you can go into recovery to install a ROM. Make sure you install Aurora 5.0 experimental first.
I have tried to keep the steps simple. If you follow them you should be fine. If you don't understand anything then please ask and I will try to reply. I cannot reply right now because it is time for me to sleep, so you will have to wait

You cannot see the system size from the android settings. Besides that, I don't know how to see if system is partition.
The partition you have posted is data partition (the top one), and the bottom one is your internal sdcard. From that, all I can see is that you have data partition, and not system partition.
I guess the only way of finding out if you have system partition is to flash a big ROM. If the ROM starts up fine then you don't need system partition, but if the ROM doesn't start up then you need system partition.
By the way, what ROM do you have now? Does your phone work fine?

[Q] White screen at boot up

So ive looked around but can't find any threads that help me with this (please point me to some if there are!)
So i tried to flash my HD2 with this version of Android:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=733649
I followed all the instructions to the letter (well, at least i think i did), and then after installing it in MAGLDR it says that it was successful. However, when i try to start it up, it boots to the white screen with the green HTC logo, and just stays there.
Any suggestions?
Cheers
Have you flashed HSPL, and CWM with the appropriate partition size for this ROM? Since it's a Desire HD ROM, I'd imagine it takes a 400mb system partition.
Also have you flashed a compatible radio (XX.X.50.XX)?
How long did you wait for it to boot up?
Some of these ROMs can take up to 20 mins or more on their first boot.
How long have you left it to boot up? 15 mins is the max time.
If after 15 mins and it still doesnt boot, try reflash the cwm partition (the clockwork recovery image/CWM) he has in his thread, and then from the CWM, flash the rom again.

I have put on HSPL and the 400mb CWM partition
It has Radio version 2.15.50.14
Ive given it well over 30 minutes to work and it still stays on the same screen.
What method did you use to transfer the ROM .zip to your sd card?
Using MAGLDR's USB Mass Storage function sometimes corrupts files.
If you used this, then try either using an sd card reader, another device with USB mass storage functionality, or use CWM to transfer the files from your pc to your sd card.
Other than that, I dunno. Sounds like everything else is right
Clean Install
Do you use Task29?
Clean Install:
1. Use Task29 (1 or 2 times)
2. Download everything you need again (could be you have a bad download)
3. Flash a Radio Rom of your choice
4. Flash MAGLDR 1.13 or cLK bootloader (cLK is more native)
5. Flash clockworkmod recovery via MAGLDR USB Flasher
6. (partitionate your SD card if needed)
7. Transfer your ROM-Zip via clockworkmod in Mounts and Storeage(mount USB-Storeage)
8. Flash a Rom of your choice
That´s it. Hope you next try is a success.

[Q] NC 1.2.0 bricked. Need to restore and start over.

I just bought an NC 1.2.0
no need to bore anyone with details but it is safe to say that it is virtually bricked. i would love a surefire way to get it completely back to the stock to start all over again.
i tried the repartitioning and reformatting technique using cm7 without any luck whatsoever. when i boot the device gets to the big N and "contains Reader mobile technology..." screen and never fully boots.
does anyone have a solution?
Presumably, one of those boring details involved writing an image to an SDcard:
eyeballer said:
Download 1gb CWM 3.2.0.1 sdcard image from here. MD5 of .zip: 1319739d33642ed860e8044c3d55aa56. (I made this based on work in this thread. credit: to cmstlist and DizzyDen, and kevank for hosting). You really only need the 1gb image ... no matter what the size of your card is. A smaller image will burn faster, and when you're done with the guide you can reformat the card anyway.

There's a decent chance the problem with your install is that you were using an older version of CWM on a newer NC, and it didn't write all the partitions correctly. Regardless, get the current version now.
Grab a B&N 1.2 image:
nemith said:
I modified the official 1.2 update to allow CWM to flash them. You can use these to upgrade to 1.2 or to return to stock.
There are two files. One replaces CWM with the stock recovery (good for going back to stock). The other doesn't replace CWM (but will replace uboot).
Other than that they are identical to the update from B&N.
update-nc-stock-1.2-keepcwm-signed.zip
update-nc-stock-1.2-signed.zip
Please note neither one of these are rooted yet.

and install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard in CWM.
Another option, if will at least start to boot, is to start the boot process and then hold the power button down to shut it off. Repeat this 8 times in a row and the unit will initiate a self restore to the way it was shipped.
One thing to remember is that if you have a blue dot on the box for the nook, it has a different partition size and must be accounted for when installing CM7.

If he has CWM on his internal recovery partition, I don't think 8 failed boots will work.
Also, the latest version of CWM can install CM7 correctly regardless of partitioning, though the old-style partitions are going to be preferable for most people running CM7.

It does if you flash it from ROM Manager, regardless of whether you have ROM Manager running internally or on a CM7 SD install. If he hasn't done that, 8 failed boots should work, but I'm not 100% sure on a repartitioned device.

you have the pink screen? The best way to check is to remove the battery and the External SD card. Then plug in the power USB cable, press POWER and VOLUME DOWN button together. If the pink screen comes on then i think there is a chance.

you are not alone in this case. Even I have the same problem. I think the files from Huawei are corrupted. What I do is after installing the ORIGINAL ROM for the first time, at the FIRST BOOT, i use the program "Super One Click" to root the phone, and then install the apks so that i can quickly change the recovery.img to TCRW and then proceed to install the custom ROM of my choice.
I really suggest you go for Miui / Aurora (both are ICS) as the Jelly Bean custom ROMs are just way too buggy.

Go to recovery
Flash forumber's partition.zip
reboot recovery
flash forumber's partition.zip again
reboot recoery
delete the cache, system, data
reboot recovery
install custom rom
reboot into custom ROM (first boot)
WIN!

if ur able to boot to recovery u can get it bak dont worry! just hold down power button and volume down till the device comes into fast boot. and if ur stuck at the logo and not able to shut down (by removing the battery on other phones) just hold down power button and volume down button for a while i think its 5 seconds but it could be a little more not sure. hold it down till u boot into fast boot and in fast boot u can shut it down or enter the recovery.
and since u say ur device is new n if u dont hav much data then u will be able to simple flash the stock rom and hav a fresh new device.
use this toolbox it'll help u do everything. but im not very sure u might loose all the data on it

If you can go into the bootloader, go to recovery and flash CleanROM or CM10.2 or even a 4.2.2 ROM. Seems to be your only option now. Also flash an appropriate kernel for the ROM right after the flash.
Try a dirty flash at first.
i can - it freeze on logo and reboot after pressing on power and volume

yes i can get into bootloader and recovery. and i hav a few questions...
1. if i flash another rom will my files on the virtual sd in the internal memory get wiped?
2. there is option for backup in TWRP recovery i can backup DATA SYSTEM CACHE and usb otg.
after flashing a new rom can i restore the backup for DATA and get bak the apps?
3. is there any way i can copy the files in the internal memory saved in the virtual SD to my comp or anywhere else through recovery or bootloader? 4. there is an option for factory reset in TWRP recovery which says it will clear data and wipe cache and will not clear internal data. i just want to be sure if the files in the virtual sd wont get deleted if i do this? and by using this factory reset option will i be able to fix the problem?

yes i can get into bootloader and recovery. and i hav a few questions...
1. if i flash another rom will my files on the virtual sd in the internal memory get wiped?
2. there is option for backup in TWRP recovery i can backup DATA SYSTEM CACHE and usb otg.
after flashing a new rom can i restore the backup for DATA and get bak the apps?
3. is there any way i can copy the files in the internal memory saved in the virtual SD to my comp or anywhere else through recovery or bootloader? 4. there is an option for factory reset in TWRP recovery which says it will clear data and wipe cache and will not clear internal data. i just want to be sure if the files in the virtual sd wont get deleted if i do this? and by using this factory reset option will i be able to fix the problem?

1. If by virtual sd you mean Internal Storage (the place where you copy files to normally via PC), no. It won't wipe anything there.
2. Although this is possible, it is highly discouraged.
3. From bootloader or recovery you can try adb pull to grab a backup of your sdcard's contents. Don't do this unless you are 100% sure you know what you are doing.

ok i shall avoid restoring backup of data. so ill factory rest it from twrp recovery? it should fix the problem right?
and by virtual sd i meant the internal storage where we copy files from the comp sorry i didnt know how to descirbe it...
and no im not so good at adb so ill avoid tht since u told nothing in the internal memory gets wiped
Go to TWRP>Wipe. And then just swipe. Don't try Advanced or Internal Storage or whatever there is. Should do the job.

im so sorry one last question. if i factory reset n restore only data to get bak the apps.. if it works well n good if it doesnt ill factory reset again.. but does restoring data cause damage tht could brick my device?
If you factory reset, only stuff in /data will get wiped (game saves etc.) Not your sdcard stuff though.
And restoring a data backup from a different ROM may lead to bootloops.

How-To update your YotaPhone 2 using TWRP

OK guys, sorted it out.
The update file that our YotaPhone 2 is downloading to the phone, with a size of 1GB, is flashable with TWRP.
But only a very little amount of space is left after update is flashed. Only enough for SuperSU. If you want to flash XPosed too, you've to delete a file you could install from playstore for example. I've decided to kick chrome out of /system/app.
The flashable file you could find in /data/data/com.symphonyteleca.update/files
If you choose to reboot and update it is gone after reboot. Save it to another location, please
If you're phone is not downloading this bigger update, i've uploaded it to my mega cloud drive for you:
https://mega.nz/#!MtN2lLZA!SQ_QtByF1T_txqjToGMBhnNxASmxR_NoEMwiFQGhBak
Thanks for the advice. I had the same low storage issue after flashing via TWRP. Phone was very slow and couldn't install or update any apps. I had to delete the system/chrome.apk from TWRP as doing it from a rooted es explorer didn't fix the issue.
Can i put this zip on a USB stick - connect the stick to a otg cable.
boot the phone to TWRP with adb fastboot from a PC and install the zip from otg storage ?
Or there are some special steps?

This should be possible.
btw. i deleted system/media/bootanimation.zip (this frees up 50MB) instead of the chrome.apk
You can replace it with a smaller one from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/themes/bootanimations-50-flashable-t3059659
Yes seems i can flash it with otg but maybe something is missing from this zip as even if i write it in TWRP my phone still can't boot.
Do you know what is in emmc_appsboot.mbn from original 5.0.0-RU1.1.124.zip and how can i flash it?
I'm starting to suspect corrupted partitions or a hardware problem with the emmc memory.

There's nothing missing in this zip. boot.img, modem, system partition image. I've flashed it from internal sd. And well booted perfectly. Is it looping? Hanging around @ bootlogo?
If it looks like it loops just wait. Complete files on phone need to be reoptimized.
Hi,
in TWRP the zip flashes for 15 sec and then if i go to Reboot - i see the warning on the top 'No OS installed are you sure you want to reboot.'
After that it just stays on 'Powered by Android' logo forever, not looping.
Even if i clear cache and Dalvik Cache and reboot still stays the same.
Both power+up and power+down just go in Downloading... so no recovery is flashed.
In "TWRP>wipe>advanced>System>Repair or change file system" it says /system ext4 size 1509MB used 1500MB free 9MB
So i guess system is flashed properly.
After successful flash of 124 RU zip via TWRP via OTG cable and USB flash drive, it was still waiting at Android logo but then just of curiosity i have tried yota flasher and it went OK.
Now android is running and it downloads update of 1GB.
Still i wish there is a low level tool like ODIN for this phone it will be easier to fix bricked phone.
Hi, I dont know too much about twrp. What do you mean by "the update file is too big and the phone cant install app updates after"? Do you mean you only had about 1.5 ish gb of free storage before installing it?
Also, is this actually an update that wont delete my data?
