Google has said they will not host the stock firmware for the Google Play Edition GS4. I just read on Sammobile that they don't plan on hosting it either. Where else can you possibly get a stock ROM for this device? I'm not looking for the leak or a system dump but the stock firmware like you can download from Sammobile for the carrier branded phones. Has any site anywhere ever said they were going to host this software? Are there any other sources we can look to for this software?

The official GE rom hasn`t been released yet, there are only leaks atm. But they are quite good so check them out.

I understand that only the OTA has come out so far. I'm just wondering where the official rom will be hosted if both Google and Sammobile say they aren't going to host it.

It may not be available from either source.
Instead, if you look in the i9505G section of the S4 forum here on XDA, you'll find some users who have created restore packages for the i9505G already.

I am aware of the work being done here on XDA. As I said in my post above I am looking for where an "official" rom might be posted. I guess no one knows.
There may well not be an official stock rom released by Google or Samsung. Still, as I said, you can find a full ODIN stock restore file here on XDA in the i9505G forum. If I had a i9505G, this would be sufficient for me, why is this not good enough for your needs? What is the difference to you between a system dump and a stock rom? There are essentially the same, aren't they?

Because I have an SGH-M919 with T-mobile and I'm looking to repartition to recover storage space.
Ok, now that makes sense.
Still.. there are a number of other threads in this forum addressing that question. They are a few pages back in the Q&A section.

Not the question in my OP. Where can we find an official rom if Google or Sammobile aren't hosting them. I know there isn't one yet but if there is ever one, who has a site that would host it if the sites we would normally look to won't do it?

Can somebody suggest where I can get the official ROMs especially european ROM since I see lots of asian firmwares being upgraded to European firmwares in many threads in this forum.
Also I want to how I can change the firmware to these european FW without rooting. Somebody please suggest step by step directions please.
I am having a singtel fw and need to remove the singtel animation at startup and my ver number is JE9 as I see most of the people are using JF versions which seem to be more recent than what I have.
And after changing it I should still be able to upgrade to froyo officially when it releases.
thanks
Sany

The site is not an official Samsung's sponsor site, but the ROMs are official. Though, from what I have learned, not all the official ROM can be found there.
The only official EU rom at this time is JF3 and they just posted that today. Official means released by samsung. No one has clarified who/what samsung-firmwares.com really is but those newer roms are definitely not official. This doesn't mean they aren't great especially since now we can flash back to the stock firmware if we need it for warranty purposes.

They are not officially available to the public so there's nothing official about them. If I assume that they are the same files used when flashing the phones that are distributed around the world I guess they could be called "shipping" ROMs, but that doesn't make them more official than the updates.

It is "official" enough for me. When used the ROM found at their site, I manage to restore SGS to default and initial state. It even comes with all the customisations that are specially designed for the local operator I subscribed to. I don't really want to know nor do I care how the owner of the site manage to access these ROM files.

We need wait from Samsung though...
At least this clear out some misinformation regarding the ROM files at their site.
I am getting more confused now:
What are 'stock ROMs' then and what are those that are called 'official ROMs' if samsung has not released them or posted them and where are these sourced from.
My fw is JE9 asian, although I can see that it looks old when I see JF4 already being talked about, dont know how this supercedes my JE9 when samsung has not released an update? And I dont want to risk flashing those different so called official ROMs if samsung tomorrow devices some way of tracking that these are ROM that did not ship with the device and not allow me to upgrade to froyo - so i think i will rather wait.
S
Anyone tried the new ROM?
Please let me know what you noticed new and if the GPS is accurate as the XXKH3 build.
Edit: there is a thread for that subject.
A lot of people already are using it, search it.
Who are Samfirmware anyway? Having 'Sam' at starting doesn't mean they have any relation with Samsung. I hate Samsung's update policy, it just sucks.

What he meant to say is that samfirmware sucks, and they are in no way connected to Samsung.
I see. thanks. SamFirmware are not affiliated with Samsung, everyone knows that. Intratech and other smart guys use the leaked builds from SamFirmware to generate the non-wipe/custom ROM's. From what I know, SamFirmware is the only place you can get the latest Samsung builds. Let me know if you know another place.
Cheers
No, I don't get any files from samfirmware. What makes you think I do?
I thought you do? Where do you get them from?
Edit: I just made a donation to you, for your great work. Thanks for the old bootloader file.

I think the devs should leave the orig build info in the tab and just add on their sig to it for fallback reference.

That's not possible because each dev uses whichever build they want to base their rom off of. For example, your original stock firmware may be US, but developer1 uses ww base. Once you flash that rom, your tf will now be based on ww and there is absolutely no way of telling what was on their prior to because flashing the new rom will wipe and override any information from your previous rom.

Understand, so how will one do an update through ota? I'm sure Asus will have a hard time reconciling a tab's sku/serial conflict. I'm all for innovation and better ideas but if a tablet's profile is modified beyond recognition, it could wind up getting bricked if someone tries a manual update.
I wonder if there's any way to cross reference a serial to an sku? I don't see anything helpful at Asus' website.

If you have a custom ROM and/or custom recovery, the OTA will fail anyway.

There is already a sticky thread in "One General" for updates discussions.
The purpose of this thread is to provide a singular location to talk about all updates for all regions. There is no need to create a new thread for every update for every region. Just discuss it here in this thread

Just changing your Rom from sense to CM will not enable you to get the lollipop ota.... NOT even flashing a gpe Rom will do that... U have to actually do the full GPE conversion to be able to do that.
You have full instruction on how to do that?

I might get gpe updates for this without manually changing it? Because I'm waiting for android Lollipop.
You won't get the update unless you're running stock gpe. I'm sure someone around here will make a rom of it for us tho.
Im currently running 'GPE and waiting for the OTA. If i can get my hands on it, i´ll upload it, but i think
somebody will be faster due the way of getting chosen for the update in the first days.
There will most likely be a rom built from source before the OTA is out. That has been the way this update has gone. The source is uploaded first before the OTA is pushed. HEck the nexus 4 had the source and img files uploaded for almost 2 days before the OTA was pushed out.

Hi guys, I know how excruciatingly slow Sammobile's stock firmware collection is, so slow that I simply don't even consider it as usable. Here is another website that hosts these firmwares, exactly the same as sammobile but a heck of a lot faster, http://galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/galaxy-s6-stock-firmware/ Enjoy! Though the latest update may not be there first.
