I swore that Windows used to play the audio from the videos I recorded with my N1, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I went to a concert last night, recorded 7 or 8 videos, and when I tried to play them today, they wouldn't play with sound. Video plays fine, but no sound. I tried WM11, FLV player and VLC, nothing would work. Anyone know how to get around this?

u have to convert them from 3gp format, use vlc 3gp converter it works very well... or just download the desire cam app it will encode in mpeg4 or h.234 if u like u can choose... (link in sig)
Thanks for the help!
The sound is in amr codec. And VLC should read AMR. I have no problem to read it with VLC.
HI all, the problem is i can't play/hear mkv files, i tried to use: Vplayer and video was stuck, then i tried to use: mvideo player and then i coudn't hear anything, i geuss im looking for hd-audio-codec for my xoom or some player who can play mkv+sound+subtitle,
im using motorola xomm 3g, 3.1
thanks, Aviad
Try Dice player. It plays high bit rate .mkv files. I also noticed quality improvements after overclocking my device but that will not be necessary for Dice Player to work.
Add to the list rockplayer and moboplayer, both of which do a nice job for me.

Mobo player is great on xoom.
Been using MXVideo player lately and I'm starting to like it a lot better.
Either one works great

Use dice player...
Dice player played my videos better than most other players.
I never got high bit rate .mkv files to play on any other player. Mobo played lower bit rate .mkv files but sometimes I'm watching 720p files on my home computer and want to continue watching on my commute so I just transfer without converting and Dice plays it.
Thanks guys, ill try dice player and let u know if it works
hey,
Mx player works great for me. I love it.

In the market you will see that there is a Dice Player plug in for Tegra 2 devices. Install that as well. They should be on the same page.
Here it is:

I ran into issues like this with some HIGH PROFILE MKV files while running dice player.
MX Player plays those files for me with ease.

I have tried the default video player but it cannot play .mkv movies with DTS sound track.
I can see the video part of the movie but so sound can be heard.
Is there a solution to this or do I have to convert my .mkv movies?
Edit: Actually DicePlayer and MX Player can play .mkv movies with DTS sound track.

Shouldn't this be in the Q&A section?
use mx video player , it worked perfect when I played 1080p mkv /w dts video.
Dice Player does this too (and is a better player for the Tab 7.7 overall with better hardware decoding, not much in it though so pick whichever).

Just wondering what makes you think dice has better hardware decoding. I have not tried Dice yet but i have not run into a single problem with mx video player

On my Note and Galaxy Nexus some files don't play smoothly with mx player (they are very watchable, just not perfect like with Dice Player).
Glad to see you here NZ... Haven't try the video part thoroughly... Anyway, MX is still good for me as of now... Thanks for the input about Dice...
You can also try BSPlayer.
I found this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vDN-RilC1k
It can also play my AVCHD camera files. (.mts)
One BIG problem is that the player can't play from my ntfs formatted sdxc card.
(Dice+ Mx works)
I have all three installed, but I usually use Dice.
I am having mixed results on my 7.7 - vids with DTS stored on the SD card play nicely when using MX player when the audio stream is set to SW.
However, when the same videos are accessed over the network they are choppy if they play at all. Anyone else experiencing this? I've done some network analysis and the wifi isn't being maxed out or anything.
Maybe I'll start a new thread on this.

@sladey,
There is another thread "wifi connections" that documents some slow streaming prob.
I had to experiment with wifi-g to wifi-n (both 2.4 & 5.0 ghz) to get a steady stream.
No fixed answer at moment as all above settings still hv some intermittent stutter.
Try wifi-g and slowly move up speed.
Cheers

What version Exactly?
MX Video Player v1.6f. You'll have to google for the apk as it's an old version that supported DTS software decoding prior to it being pulled.
yeah I tried them and they aren't supported on jellybean so I got diceplayer and used the special codec file and I can playback my 15GB .mkv's with DTS with no problem even running the cpu at 300mhz on my note 2 it plays back flawlessly on my 64gb ntfs microsd card. So it's DicePlayer that does it for JellyBean.
I appreciate your help though.
Put the newest build i could find for this guy. Bought him off ebay for a cool 135 free shipping and has turned out to be amazing. Using him with my old Tzones plan running NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA.
Everything runs great except videos. If I am streaming an MP4 its like an 80% chance the file will just be green and blurred like scrambled cable. Sometimes it will play just fine. Even crappy 240p files will be green in both the regular android player and MX Player.
Now I'm trying to see which type of 720p files the phone can play. After a couple of handbrake encodes it will play the 720p in MX Player but it will be frame ratey. The stock player wont even touch the file.
I check the decoding options in MX Video and only software decoding is enabled. Is there an ICS build capable of playing videos with Hardware Decoding.
Your thoughts guys !
Edit --
Tried with Mobo Player and still the same error.

Install MX Player and install the Armv7 addon for MX Player (it will be in the related apps or something in the play store) and use software decoding. I have also found 720p playback to be atrociously laggy, but I tried Inception at 480p and it plays great.
Installed and it definitely seems to be working with the green videos but 720p seems like a no go...
Is it the rom or is it the phone ?

Hmm, 720p playback is usually listed as a working thing but I don't see how NexusHD2 is in any way inferior to the other ROMs, it definitely has a comparable performance.
Hi,
I have a problem with playing 4k videos on my Galaxy S5, SM-G900F. Whenever I record something with 4k quality and play it, it's fine. But when I download a short 4k video and play it, it either stutters or plays it @ 1 FPS. That is, it shows a frame for a second and it disappears for a second and so on... Also it happens to have no sound at all.
What gives? Has anyone else had this problem too?
Thanks.

Just because it does not fully support all 4k video formats (codec).
Maybe the newer firmware will support more formats.

OK. Maybe I should try finding different codecs. I think players like BS Player and MX Player support custom codecs. If anyone knows of any good 4k codecs for Android I'd be grateful.
