Greetings,
Bought two days ago and just receive it yesterday evening. It's brand new in a sealed Samsung retail box. After plugging in the tiny, flimsy DC plug to the tablet, whenever the tablet or the power cord just slightly move, the plugin icon (ac plug symbol next to the battery symbol in the systray) disappears. If I apply a little pressure to the DC plug in the push in direction, the charging status icon reappears. Has anyone here bought one and experience the same thing? It's seem to be a minor defect and wonder if I should contact Samsung for an exchange as the store I bought from is out of stock and I am unable to find new one at the same price $350. I am afraid that Samsung may give me a refurbish unit instead. What would you do?
Your comment and advice is greatly appreciated.

I bought a Cradle for my TyTn II from Brando Web site. they are located in Hong Kong. I have been dealing with them since 2000.
they usually provide good service.
However this charger did not work, AC or USB part. I emailed them and they were kind to send me a replacement in 1 week.
Again still not charging or connecting to my computer. I skipped the cradle and tried the USB cable only still not working.
I emailed them back and they want me to ship both units back to them. I understand that there is a problem with certain connections charging or connecting with Kaiser an I tried to tell them that; I don't think they believe me.
Do Not Order this Cradle since it will not work !!

Uh thanks for the warning, I almost bought the same thing.

Stupid question, but does your Kaiser connect to your computer with ANY USB cable? I'm using a cradle (from Talkietech.com) which looks identical to that one with no problems at all. Works with both a USB connection (though I re-used an existing cable) and just with the wall power plug.
If the provided USB cable isn't working, try one which you know works....
Richard
It's not only the USB cable but also the charger included.
any other USB cable works on my computer though.
Brando contacted me again yesterday they will send me a third unit. I will post once I get the third unit.
cheers.
Also returned one of these for same reason
I returned one for replacement because the led lamp was blinking like crazy. The replacement connects to my usb alright but I have not done any extensive testing of the charging performance.
Inserting the phone is also fibbly because the slot is so wide, you need to take aim and align phone before inserting. This is a real bother. Do not buy it
I bought a Boxwave cradle for a 8525 and it's light blinked and failed within hours, I returned it.

I think all these cradles (Kigidi, mobile planet, Brando) are all from the original manufacturer. They do work, but not out of the box. You have to shift the battery around left to right while inserting them to have the contacts line up properly. Cheap quality.
I bought a cradle that looks exactly like that one off eBay. But it came with a second battery for Brando's price for just the cradle alone. I've been using mine for a little over a month, and am very happy with it. The USB cable only serves for charging and connecting to a pc. To charge the second battery in the charger 'tray', the AC power adapter must be plugged in as well.
Mine also has the tricky alignment issue when inserting the kaiser, but I'm used to it. Also because of the position of the kaiser's stylus, there's no access when cradled, so I rigged a mount on the side of the cradle for a spare stylus.
Hands down the best thing about my cradle is the charger tray and second battery. It's so nice to have a fully charged battery available at any time for a quick swap. The battery that was included is only 1300 mAh, opposed to the stock 1350 mAh battery, but it fits perfectly, and I I don't find the 50 mAh difference noticeable. And considering the $24 price tag fI paid for battery and dock, it seems a steal. At this point there's no way I'm going to shell out $50 for the 1650 mAh batteries now available, but If I din't have the dock and second battery I probably would have.
I see that the pricing is up $5, still a deal:

brando.com shipping
This is unrelated to the topic, but I was going to order from Brando.com and was wondering how long the shipping took. It says 7-20 business days, and I was hoping it would be on the shorter end of that. (shipping to PA)
Almost every charger didnt work with my TyTn II (after I burnt up mine original one on UPS). I just went to market, looked for highest wattage supplying adapter and it was LG's 5.2Volt 5W adapter. And it recharges my TyTn II like a charm. There is something bad with recharging TyTn II.
The old motorola charger and such going-around-boozo's worked with my Vox and Excalibur but not this beast.
Interesting
i have had one of these for over 2 years. its on my desk at work. the original mains adapter packed up a long time ago and i have an old tandy one attached now. does have the random blinking lights with phone and spare battery connected, but it works.
as said before, cheap design but very handy to charge phone and battery together.
just have to be a bit lucky when you buy i guess.
despite title, i would say buy.
@dark_prince: could be the charging socket in the phone is wearing and needs bit more power to kick it in. have you tried to clean inside socket with compressed air and contact cleaner, might help.
but maybe we just have to accept that our phones are really old now and dont work as well as they used to (i know the feeling)
Hello,
my problem is strange.
When I turn off my Atom Life it can be charged (USB, External Power Supply).
Red indicator light on.
When turned on (in use) it does not charge. The charging symbol in the status line shows the unit is connected to external power, but the red indicator light is off, and power continuously goes down.
I already tried a hard reset, but that did not help.
Does anybody have an idea?
Sorry, I forgot to mention that everything with charging went fine earlier (until some weeks ago)
charging
same thing with my XDA ATom dude
I have ordered a new battery for mine at ebay (did not arrive yet).
Maybe it helps.
Otherwise ...
Ok, the battery came in and it does not change anything.
Still the same issue.
So I am gonna litter it...
bye bye
New info,
there seems to be a bad contact at the USB connector.
If I connect the USB cable and hold the plug in a specific angle, then the charging light (red led) turns on).
Brought the device to a friend of mine. He's good at electronics and tries to figure out and fix the usb connector.
wait and see

any news for your problem ??
i'm having this problem too
i brought used one and seems the battery is almost dead and can't charge when device is ON
Thanks!
I got a used atom life and bought a new main battery for it. Charging via USB cable connected to my notebook is working fine. Using the (wall socket plugin) power supply with the same cable it behaves the same way you described it. It starts charging only when the device is turned On and back Off. In my opinion the power supply is the reason. Maybe it is to week ar has some sort of security switch build in, which is protecting it against to high power consumption.
In my case it was definitely not the charger. I tried several ones and they behaved all the same (the original one wrked for long time).
It is the device itself.
I had it sent to a friend who was able to open it and a have a look at it.
The USB plug itself was a bit loose. But soldering it again did not fix the problem.
There seems to be a micro break of a wire on the mainboard (which is multi layered). So no real chance to repair.
I replaced my device by a HTC Desire which was available in Germany very very cheaply (you don't want to know the price because it wuld be too frustrating).
So goodbye Atom Life.
I recently purchased an n9005 (note 3) second hand. Everything was fine except it looked like the charging module was on the way out. It wasn't inclined to charge at all with the usb3.0 connector and I had to wedge the usb2.0 connector at an angle. ordered up a replacement charging module - and swapped it out.
All good ...or so I thought!
A few weeks later and the phone shows as 'charging' but it may or may not be charging in reality! I always leave it charging overnight - but now I simply don't know whether I'll wake up to it being completely flat or charged.
I'm not at all sure whats at play here - but it's definitely not the same problem as I had with the charging module. There's no necessity to have the cable inserted at an angle or anything like that.
other than confirming that, I'm at a loss as to what's at play. Could it be some sort of android issue...or....could the battery itself be on the way out?
Any troubleshooting steps or suggestions would be very welcome.
I was away over Christmas/New Year - in Spain. During that time, I recharged using the old micro usb cable - via the mains - and also via a power bank. With both, there was no charging issue whatsoever.
When I came back home, I tried to charge via the mains (with the micro usb cable and the usb 3.0 cable) - but same issue.
Is it possible that the charging module that I bought online and installed - is geared towards continental power supply only - and not the irish power system?
In the meantime, I've simply been charging the power bank up - and in turn, charging the phone via the power bank.

has anyone else with an ultra tablet had trouble with the magnetic charger?
i received mine yesterday and immediately charged it up with the magnetic charger. it worked as expected.
woke up today and went to charge it up again, and the magnetic charger no longer responds.
i am able to charge using the micro USB port - thank goodness. but the magnetic charger was significantly faster and better.
i did a factory reset and updated my system software just to be sure it wasn't an app i had installed or some other software problem. no change.
since the USB charging works i have to assume it's the charger itself rather than the battery or motherboard or anything like that.
has anyone else had this kind of trouble?
i should add that there's nothing visible on the connectors -- no goop or weirdness. the tablet has barely been used as i've only had it 36 hours. i've been gentle with it. i've also been gentle with the charger - i hadn't even unwrapped the cable yet and the whole system had never left the table.
the magnetic charger appears to fit to the connector correctly and everything - latches right in. but it never charges the battery.
i just spent almost $400 CAD for this which is a major purchase for me, so i'm super bummed. :crying::crying::crying:
i don't think there's any way to contact Jide support directly, and not even a way to buy a new charger.... i sent a "user feedback report" using the OS, but i haven't heard anything. if anyone knows a way to reach a support tech, please let me know!
http://support.jide.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
i emailed the sales account on jide's "contact us" page and have received a response from cameron. he asked to confirm my shipping address, so hopefully he is sending a new charger. i've been using USB but regardless i drained the battery watching a youtube stream (while on a USB charger), so the faster magnetic charger will be important!
Hello, I'm experiencing this weird issue with my phone, after last update few days ago I put the phone on my Samsung S4 dock and the pop-up saying that charging has been disabled because the usb port was wet or dirty, but the phone was perfectly dry. Then I tried to charge it with a USB cable and IT WORKED and with wall charger (quick charge) as well but when I put it on the dock the damn moisture detection alert pops up and it doesn't charge.
I also tried with another dock, Samsung Tab4 dock (the big white one) and nothing changes, but both docking stations work with my girlfriend's S4....
I'm going crazy, please help me....

Had the exact same problem with my s7. I think it must be a bug in the update. Kept getting moisture detected when in desk and car dock but not on normal charger. Had to flash back to previous firmware to fix the problem. Going to wait until next update and hope the problem is fixed.
Had the exact same problem as well. I did not flash it back to the previous firmware version and was hoping that the next update would fix the problem but unfortunatly it didn't. I updated my S7 a few days ago and the problem is still there. I keep my fingers crossed that they will soon fix it in one of their futur updates.
Same issue
I was googling for a solution and came across this thread so thought I'd reply and see if it's been resolved for anyone else.
Whenever I plug in to my car charger I get the "moisture detected" message. I can charge fine from a wall charger. My phone is the S7 Edge. It started doing it after the last update. My phone has never been in water, or even splashed. It's frustrating, due to my job, I use the car charger far more often, and now I can't.
I was also searching the web for a solution and came across this thread. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S7 (no edge) and has the exact same behaviour since I've updated it in early September.
I am trying to charge it on an official Samsung dock from a few years back (Galaxy S3). Everytime I get the moisture detected error, however it charges fine on every other charger I have. The latest October update didn't fix this problem

Hello, I experience the same issue. Whenever I plug in the phone to my car it detects moisture although the phone has never been in any contact with water whatsoever. Wall chargers work perfectly fine. Is this issue connected to the latest update?
Are there any updates on this topic, any solutions?
Thanks a lot!
having same problem with my s7. Both of my Motorola car chargers cause this error message to occur, although the chargers work fine when charging my car's Bluetooth speaker. my other chargers in the house work fine also.
I feel your pain
Exact same issue with a brand new, mint from the box S7 Edge. It displays the "moisture detected" message on all three docks in my house, yet is fine charging off a cable, with an adaptive fast charger, regular charger or even the wall wart that came with a Google Chrome Audio. It looks like something the dock sends out to tell devices that attach to it is confusing the phone firmware. I had a Note 4 prior to this, and the dock nullified the adaptive smart charger function, so clearly there is something more than just pass thru going on with the docks. It did charge the Note 4 though, albeit at the slow rate.
Same here, S7 edge charges perfectly on all cable and cheap China docks, but NOT on the official Samsung EDD-D200BE. The only difference I see is that all cheap dock are really pass thru and this Samsung dock is trying to do something with audio (has a audio jack) and other intelligent things.
Probably too intelligent for their own S7.
