? Dude you have problems lol my battery gets to be around 45c and CPU much higher.
Not even hot. Get a case.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

You must be looking at the battery temperature.
Use system tuner or something to check the actual CPU temp.
If it's hot when phone is supposed to be idling or doing simple tasks you must have a run away app or something causing it.
Also check you haven't left the governor set to performance or anything like that.

Nexus 7 100° too hot?

I'm running smoothrom 4.0 with bricked kernel.
My nexus 7 goes to 100° when I play subway surfers.
Is this normal?

Sounds like you can boil water with your Nexus 7. IDK about the N7, but for laptops, you don't want it that high. 80C is the hottest my laptop gets when I overclock it.
Mine is in 100°F. It is about 40-45°C

you are looking at the battery temperature(100F). the human body averages 98.6 degrees, higher with a fever. do you really think its too hot, lol. if your cpu temp hits 100C, your devices safety would kick in and shutdown/reboot the device. and there arent many cpu temp apps . most likely yourre looking at your battery temp. btw, 100C is 212F(the boiling point of water).
Being a tech nerd has the great side effect of teaching you the metric system by proxy.

Where is the units?
Will the next nexus have a longer screen?
The CPU temperatures usually reach 130°F on my GS3. I'm sure your N7 will be ok

You have to do something to reduce the temperature. For me its quite over temperature
My nexus 7 gets too about 50°C (122F) while gaming on a regular basis.
That's way too hot... Your chip shouldn't be able to boil water. Lol. Depending on what kernel you use there may or may not be thermal throttling. But in any case, I would caution to say that's not good for your device.

the op was talking about 100F, not 100C. at 100C is the nexus 7 automatic shutdown temp. 100F is slightly warmer than body temp(98.6F).

How hot does your device gets?

I have been asking this in few threads lately and no one yet to answer. I installed system tuner to check the cpu temperatures and seems to be a little high compare to other devices that I owned. With regular use the temps seems to be around 45-50C and with heavy use and gaming it would go up to 60C. The device also feels a little warm around the camera area. I would appreciate if someone could check their temps. Thanks.

108F is about 42C, which is not hot at all. Mine gets over that while texting.

Haven't measured, but mine gets SUPER hot sometimes. Usually when playing games, or like last night, I was on skype for ~4 hours. It get's hot, but I would expect it or any device to get hot when doing that type of stuff.

I don't own one but those temps are right in line with the average desktop pc. I think once temps hit about 65-70C under heavy load, then there is reason for concern.

Mine got up to something like 42 degrees C yesterday while browsing. Got the temperature readout using Cool Tool. Heat was mainly around the top / camera area where I assume the antenna is.
38° C max and that's when i m charging and using the phone.

42 is not hot. Its warm. To qualify as hit it has to reach at least 50.

I'm starting to wonder if my N4 is defective since I haven't had any real heat issues. It gets a little warm but no more than my GNex did and nowhere near as hot as my Sensation was.
I had it in my pocket today and it was hot I felt the heat on my flesh I pulled it out it was hoooot idk why will get hot on idle

How to stop the heat?!?!?!

Within about 20 seconds of me trying to use my phone it warms up so its almost uncomfortable to hold!?!??! I mean what in the world..

Something must be terribly wrong. I notice it gets warm slightly when playing around with custom kernels or gaming but not to the level where it is uncomfortable to hold. If you are on stock rom then you should contact google.
I think its because of the radio.. Hot when it isn't on airplane mode. Fine when its off

That kind of heat is an issue. RMA that pronto.
Download system tuner and see what the temperature is when its " too hot"
Mine gots rrally hot when running Angry Birds Star Wars. What about you guys?
I've had two N4's and neither one ever even got warm. At least not noticeable in hand. Even with extended gaming. Agree on the RMA.

Quick lil question

Hey yall i'm using a nexus 4 running cyanogenmod RC with setcpu on and franco Kernel.
Does my phone still throttle its cpu speeds when it gets to a certain temperature? Like on stock nexus 4.
I have done alot of research but i cant find an answer to this question. Also i am asking this question because i dont want to overheat my phone and kill its battery.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Franco kernel throttle CPU when it reaches 70c by default
Sent from my Nexus 4
Just flash rasbeanjelly + Trinity all heating issue just go away for sure.
In Trinity I find colour are faded so you can try different kernel .
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Ok and ok but I think I'm through flashing stuff lol except for an update.
Anyway what temp does the stock nexus 4 throttle? Because 70 degrees Celsius is to hot for a phone, even most laptops cant handle that temp.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
Not sure what temp stock kernel starts to throttle but if it reaches 80c it will power off to protect it. It is very hard for you to reach that temp though
Sent from my Nexus 4
K, you have an recommendation of what is a good temp to throttle my nexus 4 at that wont allow the heat to damage the battery or phone?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
70c is hot but not too hot, 90c is a bit closer. I believe the auto power down is somewhere between 90-100c. The chances of your phone but ing damaged by the cpu or battery being too hot is pretty much nil. Don't worry about it and just use your phone. If it's actually in danger of frying the chip or the battery, it'll shut itself down.

If it really bothers you, set the throttle at whatever temp makes you paranoid. There's nothing to freak out about.

Nexus 4 4.3 not charging when overheated

As the title says. It stops charging.
If I press *#*#4636#*#* it shows ac connected but not charging.
This started on 4.3. Never saw this on 4.2.2

It's probably a safety net feature. To avoid complete meltdown. Charging heats up the phone too.

Yes it might be but it is really weird cause when it stops charging, it doesn't resume once the phone has cooled down. You have to unplug and replug.
Which isn't very helpful.
Btw totally stock.

That's happened to me when play in summer and just use the fan. Checking the cpu temp shouldn't clock past 50 degrees or it gets pretty bad. I usually just place it in the fan, then on the air conditioner for a minute or two and usually keep the cpu status app open to watch the drop in temperature. Atleast Nexus keeps this safety throttle, S4 would probably give you a nice bacon house.

I think is not CUP related but battery related. I am trying to upload 2 pics but for some reason upload is not working.

Well if the cpu heats up so will the battery both are working hand in hand. It's like your engine is hot and so will your spark plug be. For the safety of the parts and since lithium ion batteries are dangerous when overheated, it's a safety net.

Haha. Thanks I am Greek not Russian
The two screenshots just show how the one in the higher temp is still charging and a few minutes later it stopped and the other one with the low temp says that battery is overheated, AC connected but not charging.
The guru app I think it helps a bit as about 5%, but no more than that.
