For those of you who have gotten the TW update, you should have access to the Movies tab in the Market. However, some of you may notice that if you do a factory reset the Movies tab will no longer show up. My guess is that it's just a minor bug with the update. Luckily you can fix this by following these steps:
1. Go to Settings>Accounts/Sync> and select your Google account and remove it
2. Now go to Applications>Manage Applications>All>Market> and tap clear data
3. Go back to your home screen and launch the Market
4. Sign-in with your Google account and accept the User Agreement
Now you should have the Movies tab in the Market
Still doesnt work :'(
Worked for me. Thanks!
I've only had my tab a couple of days and it came with TW installed, but I've never noticed Movies in the Market. Is it available here in the UK?
You have to use vpn (USA based) to rent and watch google movies outside USA.
It is working for me.

Well it look like whenever I go outside US (Mexico) Play Books, Play Movies, and Google Wallet will vanish from my homescreen and will not be available just like the Play Store services(but I already expected that) but if I go with a file manager they are still there but somewhat Google disables them...how can I restore them I really want to see my bought movies...I already tried using a VPN to make them available but only the Google Play Store services will return and install them manually doesn't work either...Please help

1. Root -> a lot easier
2. Use VPN -> try DroidVPN
3. Use Titanium Backup -> defrost those apps (or use patched Wallet, for example)
U can use orbot too in the play store. I use that to get apps to work over here in germany

I just purchased my Nexus 7 yesterday and the default apps such as Play Books, Wallet, Play Magazines, Play Movies, Sound Search are all disabled by default. And after I enable them with Titanium Backup they are disabled after a reboot. When I try to use Play Books, none of my books will sync and a menu pops up saying I live in an unsupported country. I live in the United States and Play Books works without a problem on my S3. Oh, and the Play Books app also keeps having a menu pop up saying couldn't retrieve google play books library from google. Check your internet connection and try again. I've reflashed ROM. Done multiple factory resets. Wiped Play Books cache. Uninstalled and reinstalled with no luck. Anybody have a fix for this? And I bought the tablet from a local Sam's Club if that helps any.

What ROM are you running? Is it an Android 4.1.2 or 4.2 ROM?
So you flash a ROM then restore the files from a backup you made with Titanium Backup? Are you restoring app + data only, not system data? What happens if you just install Books normally, it'll sync just fine with your Google account and everything, so you won't lose anything.
Or are you using a gapps zip file to flash after you installed the ROM zip? You're not using an Android 4.1.2 ROM with an Android 4.2 gapps zip are you?

Go into settings and check your date and time.. This is what google uses to determine where you are. Also be sure that your google account.. From there website has the correct time and date zone..
The above should resolve your problem and is the most likely and overlooked cause...
Good Luck .....

I'm running the stock 4.2.1. It's just rooted nothing else. Even when the device was fully stock I still had the same problem. I never restore date with Titanium Backup. I always redownload everything.
You're logged into your Google account and everything fine? If you were having this issue right out of the box, I'd take it back and explain the issue and get it exchanged, something doesn't seem right here.

The only other suggestion would be is to contact Google, I've done that before with a Play Store issue/question, and it wasn't as bad as you'd think it would be. I'd explain the issue, and see what they say. Don't mention anything about being rooted etc, but it may be worth a shot there.

Yep all other Google services work like Gmail, People, Currents, cards saved on Google Now all that syncs fine. But Play Books just keeps doing the same thing over and over. I already check the date and time formats on tablet and on Google account from my computer and all was correct. I'd really hate to return it, it was the last one they had.
if it were me, id return to stock, unroot, and put 4.2.1 on and go from there...

before id return it , i would do a different download of the 4.2.1. and reflash like starting from scratch,, these 7s, flylikeamutherfuker for flashing and roll from there live happily google after,:cyclops:

Sounds like your GPS is placing you outside of the country. Open maps and see if it thinks you're in Africa or Asia.

I should have tried the gps without wifi on. Already got the new one and back home now. Tried it in the store to make sure it worked and I'm glad to say it does. They just got a new shipment in today so I lucked out. That nexus I returned must have thought it was still in China.
And thank you all for trying to help me! Really appreciate it. I love my new nexus 7 Had a Toshiba Thrive before this which I still have. This is my first nexus device. Really like the 7 inch screen and being able to hold it in one hand is a huge plus.
Glad you got this resolved, and glad you can enjoy your device!

So after being completely stock and updated to 4.2.1. I used the root tool to unlock bootloader. After it boots up play books, play movies, sound search, google wallet go missing. A factory reset doesn't work. Apparently the apps are there but disabled. After enabling in play store I get the not supported in your country. Like seriously wth.. this isn't my first rodeo. Decided to use the root toolkit but that was obviously a big mistake. Anybody else have this problem after unlocking bootloader?
Just to update those who care.. I called Asus and they ran the serial number and said it's a South American model. Wtf right? So I'm fixing to go return it and go buy a new one at Office Depot then call Asus while I'm there and have them check out the serial number to make sure all is good. Never knew it would be this difficult getting my Christmas present. Lol.

I recently purchased a nexus 10 32gb variant and after booting it for the first time and setting it up i noticed that 3 stock apps are missing namely the play books, play magazine and play movies, i know this because i watched a lot of unboxing videos on youtube and they all got those apps out of the box, i also noticed that all the unboxing videos on youtube, after setting up their n10 the home screen widgets shows my library but mine is just an analog clock widget and i also notices lags and frame drops when im swiping between the pages of the home screen, is it normal to have this kind of unit?
Apps can be frozen. Use Titanium Backup to unfrozen (but it requires root).
You dont need TB to unfreeze them, just go to "Settings>Apps>All" and click the apps you need to unfreeze and click Enable.
Sounds used?

Are you in the US? Maybe those apps are disabled for tablets shipped outside the US where the services aren't available.

Im from the Philippines and i also have a nexus 7 and those missing aps are available on my nexus 7, i tried to reset it to factory settings and it still has those missing apps
I'm almost one hundred percent sure it's because you've shipped it abroad. Since Jellybean 4.1 Android performs some sort of region check and disables apps that aren't available in your country. This check is performed at every startup. I have a Nexus 7 and 10 where the Play Magazines, Play Music, and Google Wallet apps are disabled because I'm in Japan. As some other posters have stated these can be unfrozen using TitaniumBackup.
Interestingly enough though my Magazines, Music, and Wallet apps no longer disable. Maybe ever since the 4.2 Jellybean update Google only performs the check once? If that's the case try unfreezing those apps and restarting and report back letting us know if they stay unfrozen!
Hi guys,
I have been a Nexus 10 user since its release, my other android devices currently are a Nexus 4 and a i9305t, previously a Gnex and a Nexus S.
All my android devices are rooted and on a custom rom.
Primarily, the Nexus 10 has been difficult due to battery life and charging mostly. I have been using PA 3.0x for the past few months, and I decided to update to PA 3.6 with the latest Gapps yesterday, since then I have not been able to resolve my "Google Play Magazine has stopped" error.
I have at this point done a full factory reset, formatted the internal SD card, and now tried a different rom (Revolt 4.4) all of which have been unsuccessful at fixing the Google Play Magazine app..
I have googled for a solution with very little success. I am hoping that someone here can help me out.
cheers
Marcel
have you tried reinstalling (maybe redownloading) gapps. or uninstall play magazines and reinstall from the market?
good luck

Hi Sdmark,
I have attempted to uninstall GP Magazines app using titanium backup, and reinstalling via the playstore. I have also tried a factory reset with a different/older set of gapps with no success.
This issue has been resolved as of 45 mins ago. I have been talking to Google Play store support from Utah (I am from Melbourne, Australia)
after submitting my error logs, the issue seems to have resolved itself automatically.
I had done nothing on the tablet since talking to the support (about 3 hours ago) till 45 mins ago where I just decided to give it a go while sitting on the porcelain throne and no FC this time. So as far as I can tell, the fix was something on their end of things, at least thats what i suspect... the FC happens just as GP Magazines signs in.
*im an idiot, problem is still there in landscape.. didnt even think about the different viewing modes.. so the problem is only happening while landscape.
Thanks the assistance though, very much appreciated.
edit: Please dont close the thread, I have realized that Google Play Magazines does not have the problem when in portrait mode... the moment i go to landscape it crashes... is this a rom issue?
bump! still a problem, 99% instant FC when in landscape mode... (1% is when the magazine is opened from portrait, it sometimes doesnt FC when tilted to landscape.. the moment you leave the magazine and get back to the magazine selection menu in Landscape, it will FC)
pretty much the only reason i pick up this tablet over any other device lying around is for magazine reading
I have no idea. I actually use the magazines app too, and have had no problems with it. I'm using cleanrom.
I've had the same problem, does seem to work for a minute or 2 if I clear all data and reinstall the app ...but after collecting my account data it FC's again - this has been going on for months and Google Play support haven't been able to reproduce or fix the issue for me....really frustrating
