After I installed / tested the new roms on Rom Manager, my gallery will not read my SD card..? I d/l'ed a gallery from the market for a temp fix but does anyone have a clue as to how to fix it?

I find that gallery reads the SD card during boot-up.
If you mounted the SD-card after boot-up, or added file to your sd after bootup they typically don't show up until after reboot.
This is after many reboots.

Delete it from system/apps and reboot. Delete cache in stock recovery. Pull the gallery apk out of any of the roms here and put it in the same place....reboot.
You should be good to go.

If you still have "My Files", you can use that to open the photos into the gallery.
push that into system/app
should work..
Awesome! Thanks guys...
I will be at my laptop tonight to try it. We live on a sail boat so these things take time...lol

Well I tried all that.I even wiped and added gallery 3d with a new rom. Still doing the same thing..

I finally fixed it! I used es/explorer to cut and paste the contents of the camera file into them out of another folder. It seems to work fine now... Thx for all your help.

I have rooted my new phone. I knower I have permanent root because in boot loader I have s=off
So my problem is when I use android mate to delete a system app like flicker.apk it says deleted successful but it still shows in system app list and in app drawer even after reboot. Any ideas?
Don't know what it is but titanium backup deleted the system files I wanted real ready. How this helps anyone else who runs into this problem

Just delete them manually yourself with some kind of file manager. I use root explorer but others do the same.

I need help restoring my camera to its original state. I applied the camera mod to increase bitrate but it FC's my camera. So I flashed the "stock" settings again and I still have the problem. Any way to just flash a completely stock camera apk? I'm on CM10.1 if that matters.

No need to flash it. Use a root file explorer to copy the stock camera.apk to /system/apps and change permissions to rw-r--r--.

Thats not correct for his issue. The mod modifies the media profiles and not the camera apk so replacing the camera apk won't help a single thing.
You need to replace your media profile with the stock one you had before you flashed the camera enhancement files. Or flash a new ROM.

Thanks, is there a default media profile I can refer to? If not will my issue resolve itself tonight after I flash the next nightly for CM?

If you dirty flash the next nightly it should over write the modification and put back in the original media profile.
If it doesn't then you will have to perform a clean install and wipe first. But I am almost 100% positive the mod will be over written with a dirty flash and you will be back to normal.

Thank you very much Monk. I'll try and report back after.

Dirty flashing worked and my camera's back to normal. I don't think it's worth double the data size for what everybody is saying is a placebo mod.

I am cameraless!
I received my phone yesterday and started playing with it. While deleting a couple of the google apps (via TBP) I think I accidentally deleted that of the camera (which I can only guess would have been the Gallery apk?)
I have downloaded necessary files and all I need to do is change permissions but I don't have the option
Can someone help shed some light?

I've just edited my post. About to load screenshots

No option to change permissions
Use a better file manager, Solid Explorer for example. Make sure you enable root access
OK so, downloaded solid explorer, changed permission on both apk and odex to rw-r-r and the three .so files and nothing. App does not show up on my list
EDIT: Now both Gallery and Camera are showing BUT when I tap on them it tells me "Unfortunately Gallery has stopped."

Try clearing app data for Gallery

Didn't help, I keep getting the same message... I had a couple of frozen items on TBP and defrosted to see if that would solve the issue but nop.... Something that seems so easy has taken me all day to fix :crying:
EDIT: maybe this piece of info helps someone know what is happening; when i uninstall or modify any app it gives me that same error "Unfortunately, Gallery has stopped."
Followed instructions of installing the 4.2Camera zip as well as the toolkit zip via recovery with no avail.
Deleted the apps, added them. No luck
Copy pasted the lib (.so) files and changed permissions (replaced existing). No luck
Rebooted a million times. Did a data, cache and dalvic cleanup and No luck
I had installed instragram and then deleted it. I also installed Quickpic (doubt any of these have anything to do with the problem though).
EDIT 2: Problem SOLVED!!! I updated gapps with this file which seems to be the latest version and voila! Camera is back to proper working order!
recently noticed i am unable to open the device storage setting on my rooted kfhd7. initially thought it was a bug with go launcher ex as it has a few issues with menu settings in its new update but since trying other launchers including stock i am still unable to select storage settings. anyone else had this issue?
thanks

Make sure you still have /system/app/MediaProvider.apk, that it is not corrupted, and that you have not frozen or disabled "Media Storage" using Titanium Backup or a similar app.
thanks. mediaprovider.apk is still in /system/app and mediastorage looks ok in tit backup. unsure if either are corrupted but size of the apk is 22kb.
Sent from my KFTT using xda app-developers app
You can copy it and rename the apk to .zip then open it... if it opens it is probably not corrupt
Sent from my GT-P3110 using xda app-developers app
was just about to copy it to my computer and can see another file in system/app called mediaprovider.odex.
would this be the cause of the problem? this other file
is 120kb

Is there a repository for all the stock apks? I used root uninstaller to uninstall a few apps, like trip advisor and flipboard. I keep getting random errors that those two apps couldn't run. Thoughts?
Thanks!
Sent from my SPH-L720 using xda app-developers app
You haven't deleted all the files associated with flipboard and trip advisor if you get FC's.
Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk
If you uninstalled them correctly, they should not be around anymore to FC. Both trip advisor and flipboard each have a single apk associated with it.
Have you tried rebooting to see if the FCs go away? If that doesn't work, I'd reinstall them, reboot, and then use titanium backup to remove them.
Sent from my SPH-L720 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Delete the apps files from data/data folder and see if that helps.
Thanks for the tips, guys. I ended up reinstalling. I'll give the titanium back up uninstall a try.

After that, boot into recovery and wipe dalvik cache and cache
