I screwed up big time! After accidentally updating to MF3, I decided to go back to stock + root. I then decided to debloat my AT&T S4, manually deleting the files listed in the TrulyClean script. My device now runs significantly faster, but I can no longer go online when not connected to wifi. I didn't have a backup There is nothing under APNs. Resetting to default did nothing. Adding/saving a new APN brings me back to a blank list. Any ideas how I can fix this? Do I have to wait until the stock MF3 firmware is available to flash through ODIN? Help is much appreciated.
How did you delete the files? You just didn't freeze them?
That's what I SHOULD have done :/ I used ES File Explorer and deleted the files...

I don't know what apk you deleted that you need. Hopefully some one does and can supply a copy. You're learning the hard way!

More than likely it was the CSC.apk. Put that back in and see what happens.
Besides, there is nothing to worry about, if you have trouble, just download a ROM from the dev section here and flash it. If you need just the CSC, just download a MF3 rom from the dev forum and use 7zip and extract the csc.apk file. You might need the .odex file also if you weren't deodexed.

Thank you so much for identifying the APK! Downloading an adulterated MF3 ROM now for the CSC .apk and .odex files. Although I'm not sure what you mean by flashing the ROMs, as my bootloader is locked and I can't install a custom recovery. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still pretty new at this. Thanks.

But let us know if putting the CSC file back in fixes your issues.

Does anyone know how to push a modded app to the HTC Desire and make it stay?
Because obviously on the HTC Desire pushing files normally with adb push doesn't make them stay.
Anyone got a solution?
what do you mean it doesn't make them stay?
if you push a file to the system/framework then it will be there
if it's the same file as one already in the phone then it will overwrite it
is your device in recovery when writing to the system folder?
sorry if im missing something here

Well I modded the smooth calender app and made the background transparent and then pushed it to /data/app where it was.
Works fine and shows up how it should.
But then when i restart my phone, it's gone, not in the app launcher or widgets menu but it's still there when I look for it in ROOT EXPLORER.

I've done that too, doesn't work.
Do I have to do it in recovery when pushing apps?
Because it lets me push apps when the phone is normally on.
the phone must be in recovery in order to write to the system
boot into recovery
remove from data/app and system/app the old file
push to system/app the new file
reboot

Won't install either, was the first thing I tried.
It needs to be signed and I've tried every guide possible on how to sign apk's but none of them work.
it doesnt have to be signed if youre pushing it to your phone
if only has to be signed if you want to be able to flash it
which is actually a good idea considering that adb push isnt working for you
if you send me or upload the file i can sign it for you and you can flash it in recovery

Thank you for the help.
And i was wondering, couldn't I just take out the apps from that zip file and add more modded apps then flash them?
good good
if you unzip the file and then re-zip you'll lose the sign
i think you can add/remove files with a zip manager without actually unzipping
however the update script included in that zip will only allow flashing to /system/app
note that if you toggle signature verification in recovery then you can flash everything signed or not, although this is not good if you are distributing files.

The backup files in my thread is stock version of webtop file.i think the OP is requesting the original webtop file of v.4.1.57 otherwise it cannot be updated to 1.83.
can anyone help on that?
Actually,my script has the backup sentence, but i delected 2 files by accident.
I backed these up from my atrix when I first got it.
I used them to revert from the webtop mod back to stock before updating to 1.57. I'm not sure if they're any different than the stock ones that come with 1.57.
Files included in the webtop_original.zip
DockProvider.apk
DockProvider.odex
DockService.apk
DockService.odex
PortalApp.apk
PortalApp.odex
I hope this helps.

Stock Froyo, 2.2.2 i think
I did a factory reset from the settings and It did not show up on there.
What do I need to do to get this back?
You may have to factory reset if the developers here cannot find the apk.
Google "Atrix External Hard Reset".
but I recommend trying out Handcent, GoSMS Pro, or ChompSMS (my favorite) first. On further thought, I don't know if these will have any dependence on the stock messaging app being present to operate. I don't know if they use shared libraries or not.

You have to push it to /system/app/
Just copy messaging.apk there with root explorer(mount rw) and set permission to 644 rw-r--r--. Then reboot.
Or try this.
Here is the bloatware zip with messaging.apk in it (removed other apps from it). Install with the old cwm recovery if you still have it.

yes. i woke up this morning and realized how dumb i am. its a system app. (i really wasnt thinking yesterday) so you need an update.zip or some other way of pausing it over. (update.zip is probably the most reliable imo) if you dont wanna push the whole bloat restore. i can build you an update.zip for just the messaging app. let me know if i can help

If you use FX File Explorer and the root add on it will set the permissions for you on your apps. Other files like initd files and such need the permissions manually elevated but for apps like these it's automatic. Don't forget to reboot after copying the files over.

so i think i figured out part of the problem. I didnt use the stock rom to pull them from, it was the syndicate rom ( i apparently dont know how to read when i click things). I have the G900VVRU1ANHA_G900VVZW1ANHA_VZW.zip which contains a .tar.md5 inside. Without flashing this, using odin, to my S5 how can i access the system files to pull the apk and odex? i tried one of the guides in a thread to open the tar.md5 as a .img.ext4 and then mounting the image using DiskInternals Linux Reader but it could not get the file to open after mounting it. Now im REALLY lost as to what i should do, and im just fingers crossed that replacing those 2 files is going to enable my NFC again. (im assuming so since its all that i touched, but my knowledge in this department is limited)
thanks again for all the help, i usually just search for days for answers but with this im coming up blank!
Okay, so i downloaded the /apps/ zip from this thread and copied them from my pc to my phone. Using ES File Explorer i moved them to the /system/app/ folder. They originally had rwx rwx r permissions after the move, i changed that to rw r r and rebooted. Post reboot, attempted to enable nfc through the quick menu to no avail, going into the setting and turning it on the slider turns to green but the NFC icon does not show in the notification panel, I cant scan any NFC tags, and after exiting settings and going back into them the NFC setting has reset itself to off every time. I am now at a complete loss of what to try next.
just a ps: when running syndicate rom in slot 1 (safestrap) i was able to get NFC turned on and working just fine.
lol were you on rom slot this whole time? rom slots do have issues at times such as nfc not working..

If you are on NHA either if these will work. NHA DeOdex or NHA Odex You can use DeOdex files on a Odex ROM with no problems.

I would do a factory data reset from the settings menu and reinstall the stock slot. All the time you spend messing with this you could be all done by now.

i thought about doing that, but with a factory reset wont i lose pretty much everything on my phone as of now? i forget just how deep one goes but re rooting and configuring seems like a lot of work if it can be resolved without doing so

Thank you, you awesome person. I am really a newbie to flashing and rooting, could you please explain what should i do with it? Do i flash the zip with twrp or extract it somewhere? I tried installing some generic livewalpaperpicker.apk found somewhere on the xda and obviously it didnt work. Also is there a way to download the zip from your google drive, because for some unknown reason my phone wants to add it as a dictionary? (If no solution i'll just download it via pc). I will be fullheartedly thankfull for instructions.

I'm not sure why it's giving you a hard time downloading the zip. Are you using the Google Drive app or Chrome from your phone?
Extract the zip and copy the folder to /system/app/ using a root file manager. I should ask though, is your system stock? What version/build number? This includes the stock .apk and .odex file.

It's a rooted, stock 6.0.1 rom, with xposed framework and a bunch of modules including N-ify, If i am correct of what a build is then my build is "24.221.5.clark_reteu.en.EU reteu".
Edit:
I tried to do everything as instructed and it didn't help. And what is curious i found out that i actually already had this folder in my system/apps. I switched it with the new one, reboot and unfortunately still when i try to set any live walpaper it says "aplication is not installed". I guess i won't be able to try pixelwalpapers anytime soon.
