So my tablet will be sitting on my desk, untouched for a while and it will make an audible tone (I believe to be some stock error sound) - I quickly turn on the screen to see it showing the "Shutting Down" dialogue box, just as if you held down the power button and gracefully shut it down.
It proceeds to shut down, and stays off. This is not a random reboot, but more of a random shut down, with no user interaction. I turn it back on by holding the power button, and don't see any issues. I've visibly seen it happen 3x and believe it has happened 2x before (once while sleeping). Battery life is 70%+ and it is not on the charger. My N7 is completely stock, 32GB version.
Has anybody else experienced this?
Running a logcat I think would be a good way to see what's happening behind the scenes and what's causing this.

Just got the N7 for the wife to test out, she notices when the screen is off for a while in sleep mode, and she hits the power button to wake it up it does not wake up right away, she sometimes has to do it 2 or 3 times, or it won't wake at all and then she has to hold the power button down, then when it wakes up, she has to back out to get out of powering down. Is this normal.
So since I have not a FR because I thought it might be the recent update to 4.1.1 that created this issue or a rogue app that I installed. now the power button won't do a thing, the only way to wake the unit up, is to plug in the charger, any suggestions before I take it back to the store today. TIA
I had a 10 minute phone call at lunch today, hung up and put the phone in my pocket. Pull the phone out maybe 10 minutes later and it is completely unresponsive to input. Double tap, power button, holding power button, holding volume down and power, holding volume up and power. Nothing works. I took the back cover off and popped the battery cable off because it was getting REALLY hot. It gets hot just to the left of the power/volume buttons toward the edge of the device. As soon as I plug the connector back in, the phone gets really hot. I have also tried connecting the phone to my PC but it remains unresponive and gets hot again.
The phone app has been acting weird lately. Like locking up my phone when I make a phone call and stuff but nothing this bad. I rarely use the phone so I didn't really try to figure anything out.
d802 on ATT
rooted with 4.4.2
I have a few rooted apps. Pie control, GMD hide softkeys, apex launcher and better batty stats. The rest just regular apps.
So the other morning I wake up. I grab my tablet off the charger, click the lock button, and notice it was off. I figured it must have crashed overnight. I hold down the power button, and it doesn't turn on. I try again this time holding it down longer. It then turns on, but as soon as the lock screen shows up, the screen freezes and I can not do anything. I hold the power button down for an extended period of time, but it turns off and wont reboot no matter what. It wont charge (I assume), it isn't recognizable by my PC, and it won't turn on. I have no clue what happened. This happened randomly. I doubt it matters, but I'm running a CM11 based ROM (I think? Haven't changed it in a while, can't remember) and I have no clue what Kernel. I also noticed that the power button doesn't click as "nicely" (can't think of another word) as the vol. up and vol. down buttons. Could the power button be stuck? Any help or will I have to return it to my warrantor and start over? Thanks in advance.
I was using my phone (43% battery) listening to music using the castbox podcast app when suddenly the music stopped and my phone completely froze, nothing worked not even stand by, i held down the power button to restart it but it just turned off and would not turn on again, i then left it and after around 10 minutes i see it has turned on, to a white google logo with a grey background (never seen that before) i hold down the power button again to try and restart it but it then just turned off again and wouldnt do anything regardless of what buttons i pressed (power/ power + volume up/down) i have plugged it in, still nothing, and nothing when pressing buttons while plugged in.
any one got any idea what could be wrong or how i could fix this?

Welcome new XDA member.... first post? Many threads on this topic. Have you held the power button down by itself for several minutes? Were you having ANY battery issues leading up to this? Can you boot to Recovery? Are you running TWRP?
Hi all,
in last 2 days, after over a year of normal use, my s7 edge suddently turn off and won't turn on by power button.
I connected to the charger ad battery level was over 50%. Pressing power button it turn on and i can use it or a while then it turno off again.
Someone else had this problem? How can i solve?
Thanks
i am also facing the same issue. My S7E randomly shuts down, and pressing down power button doesn't turn the phone on (I have tried Power+volume down). After several hours, when I put it to charge it turns on, and the battery is always at 0%, even though the phone 80%+ charge before crashing. Some times it makes sound, demonic like when its about to crash, sometimes it doesn't. Some times the capacitive touch keys have lights on, sometimes it doesn't. It is totally random so i can't really pinpoint the issue.
It has the Dec security patch and is on android 8.0
