Email app on Android 4.2.2 on S4 is getting better with sub folder sync enabled. However, while it syncs the sub folders at the interval I define, it doesn't show unread emails from all folders. I have to go into each folder to find unread emails.
Touchdown was able to just show all unread emails at the top without me having to go into subfolders.
Any way to enable this on stock email app?
+1! I need to know this too, it's exhausting having to click all folders then open up sub folders then clicking it as well

Is it possible to be able to view all of my folders on my Google Mail account and not just my standard inbox.
Hotmail works perfect...I can view everything...It syncs all folders available.
But Google Mail doesn't.
Any ideas? Or is that as good as it gets.
Thanks
I suggest trying out Google Mail Pop3-mail.

That's what I've done. It doesn't sync my custom folders that I've made or anything like that.
All I get is the standard folders such as inbox, deleted, drafts, sent items and outbox.
I want to be able to see all of my folders that I have just like I can view them in a normal browser.
I didn't know you could syncronize folders using POP3, but I've been wrong before (this one time in 1984 I think  )...
I have about 20 sub folders off my main inbox for exchange server 2003. Only the items in my main inbox are counted as items unread on my device. If i have say 4 emails in another folder, it does not show that they are unread unless i click the inbox and switch to that folder. I want to know if i have unread messages in all my folders just from looking at the today screen. Is there a fix for this? Also push mail only seems to work for my main inbox too, not for the subfolders, i have to manually syncronize to get the rest of the messages to download. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I'm not even able to get the email from the other folders on my cell phone. Only email from my inbox comes in - are there any settings I can change for this?
yea. with the mail inbox open go to manage folders, then you can tell it which folders to sync
Is that not because of how outlook works?
I think it's always been like that: It just tells you how many mails you have in your inbox, subfolders are not included...
I tried to search but could not find anything.
On my exchange email, I've got multiple folders and emails are sent to the different folders directly.
In HTC email program, I can look at other folders and see unread email there but I can't see unread emails (and get notifications) across all folders, except of course if I missed a configuration?
That's the way it works. If you've got rules to move mails to Exchange folders you won't get new mail notifications. Same thin happens if you use Outlook as the email client, you won't get any notification for mails that got to folders.
What bugs me is that if you hit menu->folders then the unread count isn't shown there - unless I'm missing something

I also am trying to figure this out. I basically want the ability to receive and be notified of all emails including all subfolders. Regarding Fed's comment, I agree that's how it's supposed to work, but in Outlook you can set a rule to display a notification. In my Outlook I set that as the top most rule for all incoming email so I get a notification no mater what rule runs. Even my BBerry allowed me to select folders that were also monitored and hence a notification and email were recieved. HTC however doesn't seem to have an option to do this. It actually sounds like you guys are getting a step further. If I select menu --> folders I see the folders, but not the email within the folders. Anyone know how to setup notifications and receive email for subfolders in exchange on the HTC?
I want to add that before I used Touchdown and touchdown can show emails from all selected folders.
Are follow-ups working for you (mine are auto-flagged in outlook)?
For info, I've asked the question to HTC. Good news, they replied.
Bad news...
There is no setting for notifications on new mails in servers specifiaclly, If you are using a Windows Mobile based phone you can set these folders to be synchronized and on new mails in these folders you should get a notification upon new mails. On our Android based devices there is sadly enough no way to do this.
Not sure if this is a Android 4.2.2 issue or a Samsung issue. I setup the standard email app on the phone with my work exchange email account. Calendar, tasks and everything works well. The problem I've noticed with the email is that it really only sync's the "inbox". I have a lot of subfolders that does not get sync'd unless I do it manually. I can't see to figure out how to sync everything and/or show all new messages.
The email on my old HTC EVO 4G LTE would show new messages in a single "aggregate" folder and that was using the standard Android email client. I have a license for Touchdown but like the built in Android calendar app better and would prefer to use it if I could.
Click on your email and go to settings.... Then click whatever email your trying to adjust... From there click more settings and then folder sync settings.... Then click on each folder and you can change how often they update....

That doesn't do what I need it to. I still have to go to each folder to check for messages individually. Seems the email client on the last version of Android would let you "view all" in a single aggregate folder.

This is a unique post because the mail version from the HTC EVO 3D did a nice job of not only putting everything in that combined folder, but also made it simple to check all the folders you want to check. Very frustrating issue.
I was wondering if we could install that maill app on this phone, but I can't even find the apk.
the other issue is that was under ICS vs Jelly Bean.
Has anyone come up with a good alternative or work around for this issue? I would love to have a combined email view for all or selected email subfolders. The HTC One did this very well. I haven't found a mail app that does this either though.
Yes, id like to know if anyone found a solution too!!
My exchange account has sub folders within the inbox folder, but email client on S4 will only show me inbox folder emails. Have to go into each individual sub folder to check their messages, which is a pain considering i have a subfolder for all emails from my manager

Any progress here? Run our own business, and use exchange 2010..We really need to be able to see all our subfolders under inbox.
Thanks in advance
This baffles me with the stock mail app on my S4 Active. How do I get notifications for new emails in a subfolder on my office365 exchange account and view all my latest emails in all folders? I thought maybe "Combined Inbox" would show all my latest emails but in all the subfolders but it just shows the inbox as well.
I am coming from the HTC One which had a nice "All Email" view which showed all emails from all folders under one single view. I never thought that would be so helpful!
I hope there's a good solution out there that I'm just missing. Thanks for your help!
