Dude you already asked this I think...
There is no way any one of us can _ask_ for a 4.3 ROM for good old Glacier... Going for 2.2 to 4.2 was a huge feat. Going to 4.3 would be the most incredible feat ever. We should all appreciate the developers we have more, and thank them for their time, even if we will never have a 4.3 ROM.
Thanks guys!
I agree that all the devs deserve a huge thank you. I have a SGS4G and the devs there work very hard to get our phone to 4.0.4 to 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 to 4.3 even though Samsung said the phone can't handle it.
My buddy has a glacier and I have seen the great quality of Deva you guys have here and am sure they want 4.3 just as much as everyone here does. All I can suggest is patience and maybe a donation.
One thing we did to help "motivate" everyone is start a bounty threat. Everyone chip in and the pot goes to the dev that makes the first fully functional 4.3. Just a thought.

Great news that albinoman887 got 4.3 off the ground. Unfortunately, I have a problem, and since I'm the junior...est of members, I can't yet post in the development thread where I could ask him this directly, so I thought I'd give this thread a shot.
I did a factory reset on my MyTouch 4G, installed Albinoman's 4.3 (gapps-jb-20130726.zip) ROM and the new GApps (gapps-jb-20130726) zip linked to in his thread, rebooted, and everything appeared to be working until it was time to enter and sync to my GMail account, at which point I received an error message indicating that the AOSP Android keyboard had closed. Sure enough, every time I attempted to input anything, the message reappeared and I had no way of logging into my Google account. Touch screen input works, but without a keyboard, that's as far as I could go.
Thinking maybe I had a corrupted GApps zip, I did another full wipe, re-flashed the ROM, and this time tried the 07/13 GApps zip; unfortunately, when I rebooted, I got identical behavior. Since I needed to use my phone as a, you know, phone (they still do that!) tonight, I did yet another wipe, flashed the latest 4.2 ROM (also from Albinoman) and, to make sure it worked, the newest 07/26 GApps. No problems, seems to work perfectly.
I've checked albinoman's 4.3 thread, and, while there are a few bug reports, no one else seems to be having this keyboard problem. I never had (unusual) keyboard issues with 4.2 or any older ROMs, and it works fine now, so this doesn't appear to be a hardware issue.
Any suggestions? As a n00b, is there any way for me to message albinoman directly without coming off as a d-bag? Thanks in advance...

When I flash a new Tom I of course wipe data and cache nowhere my apps seem to stay intact. Its only started doing it recently. I'm no complaining exactly but I find it odd. Its happened with multiple Roms (vanilla sense and Froyo roms) any thoughts as to why?
Sent from my FroyoEris using XDA App
It backed everything up the first time you used a Cyanogen rom, and will keep doing it every time you flash another rom with Cyanogen in it.
ah ok. Makes sense. Not a bad feature I just didn't realize it did that. Thanks for the help.

So I'm thinking about rooting my Nexus S and keeping the stock rom, now my question is if I do root will I not receive the OTA update for ICS or will I still get it?

A little reading wouldn't have hurt............
Anyways, if you do not modify anything in /system then you should be fine. I wouldn't ever be worried about receiving an ota anyways. Chances are someone will post the full rom here before your phone ever recieves the ota notification.

Thanks for the fast reply, I new I was going to get hit with the not reading part, but rooting was something I thought of on an impulse and I did as much reading as I could before I got into work so I thought I would ask for a quick answer. Now that I have the answer I have a lot more reading to do before I even try to root.
Thank you again for the answer.

You WILL get the OTA update
Guys sorry if this a noob question. But I just recently rooted as well .
I'm running stock rom and francos kernel. Will stock rom and diff kernel mess up if you accept ota?
I'm also looking at trying diff kernels like trinity teuv.
I know I have to wipe cache and dalvik when flashing another kernel however some state to reflash the rom as well. I'm on stock so nothing to really reflash . What steps should I take to make sure kernels don't conflict.

I've had wifi driver issues when flashing kernel outside of rom flash also, sometimes it works fine, other times I get the wifi error. Do not update ota if your using a custom kernel and recovery, you must be 100% stock to do so. There are stock flashable roms however, google peter Alfonso, his stuff is in rom manager as well. Also bugless beast is a stock based rom with many improvements, very stable also. Perhaps check it out.

Always disable wifi before flashing a rom. In fact putting your device into airplane mode is the safest bet.

I'm not saying that's not good advice but I have done both and still had the error, but I'm sure it doesn't hurt.

If you're rooted, most likely you will not get the OTA notification. That's not a big deal. When ICS hits, it's going to hit here just as quick if not quicker. You'll most likely get an error if you try to flash an official OTA on a rooted device, has to be stock.
Btw, Oxygen is my ROM of choice, so I await his ICS 4.0 ROM anyway. Heck with the OTA.

So I rooted today, before I rooted I was on 2.3.7 after I rooted I was on 2.3.4 and it told me there was an update, so I took the update the screen went black showed the picture of the Android with a ! Next to it, after about an hour I pulled the batter and when I booted back I was still on 2.3.4 and it no longer says I have an update.

Manually update, look in rom manager under peter Alfonso for 2.37

Hi all I am new to the xda forums (posting anyways) and I appreciate everyone who contributes on this site you guys are amazing. Anyways I am on a Motorola Droid RAZR M, rooted first with motochopper, unlocked boot loader with motopocalypse, and flashed the latest nightly from Cyanogenmod. I was ecstatic when it worked because tinkering with my old Droid 2 Global didnt go so well and I didn't want to mess up my phone, so I was elated that it worked. A couple days ago CM Updater popped up on my phone and it was CM10.2-20130815. When I saw the 10.2 I couldn't resist and I updated it. Everything was fine until the next day when I updated to CM10.2-20130816. Videos no longer played on my phone. The stock video player wasn't working. I searched and searched for a fix but I couldn't find one so I flashed back to CM10.1-20130813. Everything works now as it should but I keep researching it. Recently I found that the problem started in the first release of CM.10.2 for the xt907. I want Android 4.3 really badly but I can't live without the stock video player. MXPlayer is great but Vine, YouTube, Snapchat, etc. wouldn't work without the stock video player. Is there a fix for this or does anyone know if the newest nightly fixed this problem? Thank you in advance.
It will get better, nightlies are experimental and there are bugs and such

Thanks! Im thinking about trying Skrilax's CM10.2 ROMs. There are a lot more nightlies so maybe there will be less bugs but I dont know there could be even more. Do you have any experience with any of his ROMs? Ive heard good and bad about them.
It's still cm10.2 just unofficial, I've made a few nightlies myself I'm running the latest nightly now pretty smooth

Yes and no, but you have to be on Linux though and there are guides out there

I have used Skrilax's builds and have found them to be well built. Keep in mind if bugs exist in CM 10.2 it probably will be so across the board regardless of the dev.

I dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 8 on both of my computers so maybe ill try it. It sounds kind of fun. And yeah I am coming to terms with the fact that i probably wont get 4.3 until a fix is made but its not a big deal. Having 4.2.2 is way better than being stuck on 4.1.2 with Motorola's skin on it. I knew the RAZR M had potential but I couldnt get it to perform well on Motorola's stock 4.1.2 ROM, but with CyanogenMod it runs like a dream. Battery life is better too!
is data working on the unofficial or skrillax's build?

On the CM 4.2-20130824 Nightly the camera issue if fixed and has been since at least a couple nightlies back, so that isnt an issue anymore. I cant say about skrilax's or the unofficial but the official nightlies have all data working and LTE is especially fast, but i have not had any problems with any type of connection on LTE, 4g, 3g, HSPA+, & CDMA.
I have a galaxy s4 on sprint (SPH-L720). So about a week ago i reset the cache and data under Google services framework to get the update from Samsung. Well after quickly realizing how much i didnt enjoy 4.3 i wanted 4.2.2 back and began to look into flashing the old firmware back onto my phone. unfortunately i was stuck in the download mode or odin mode for a long time and after following many peoples different instructions on how to do it and not getting the proper results, i became frustrated. eventually in a desperate attempt to have a functional phone i tried rooting it, which got me out of odin mode. However, since i restarted the phone, i cannot turn on the wifi nor is there any sound. these were new problems among the same old problems that i had with 4.3 in the beginning which includes the video playback (which is non-existent). All i want to do is have my phone working like it did when i bought it with the android version of 4.2.2 with all the working features. any ideas?
I was going out of my mind too last night trying to go back to 4.2 but had no WiFi so I got fed up and just did the cyanogenmod installer video that qbking77 posted last week on YouTube which roots and installs cm10.2 all on its own at least it got me a fully functional phone for now until I get back home from work and try restoring again. Just thought I'd share a temp solution

If you accepted the ota too go to 4.3 I believe the issue you are experiencing is due to the Knox bootloader. Unfortunately I do not think there is any way to downgrade with Knox bootloader (for now). I'd try reflashing a fresh 4.3 rom and see if that fixes your issues.

Well I manged to restore stock 4.3 without a problem I guess it is that Knox deal

I reflashed with 4.3 and not only do i have wifi and sound back, but also i finally have video playback. it could be a more updated version of jellybean, either way, you, sir, are my hero. :highfive:
Hey guys you arent alone. There's hundreds of us....lol, try to make the best of it. Sac23 has a great rom. Check it out. There are also some other 4.3 based roms with great dev support available. It should help buy time till the devs can find a work around for the knox bootloader.
Hi, I'm probably being very idiotic atm but I can't think of any logical issues.
I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S4 i337.. I downgraded from NB1 to MK2, got root, installed safestrap, and attempted to install this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2544474
It was my understanding this came with Loki-Doki (saw it floating around in a different thread asking if it worked, can find it if nessecary) as a patch. So I downloaded and backed up my stock install, and attempted to install this.
Now the problem is when I boot, it returns me to a bootloop, if you could call that progress.. It vibrates occasionally while bootlooping (samsung - safeboot - blackscreen - vibrate - samsung....). I still have access to safestrap, download mode and so on, if it helps at all. I've also tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2537495 WITH loki-doki (as it is explicitly stated) to no success either..
I'm looking for one of two solutions;
how to get stock firmware back, or how to properly install this? Or any variation thereof. . . I don't know what the problem is ahaha
Bumping to say multiple wipes>reflashes later the blue screen has yet to occur, not sure what that was... Bootlooping is the huge problem now!
You can't use that rom. You need a tw based rom. This one is aosp

Guh. Well ****. They should make that more obvious in the OP.. saw no mention of either of those being an issue..
Any similar roms that still have TouchWiz or should I just roll back to OTA 4.4.2?

So will it ever be possible to flash AOSP ROMs on NB1?
Not until the bootloader is unlocked. There is no telling when that will be.

Best bet is to find a ROM that you like, then install the Google Experience Launcher apk. It will give your phone the stock google launcher.

Domination Theme will also extensively theme your touchwiz rom to give it a more complete AOSP look without an AOSP rom.
All right thanks for the help guys.
