ExFAT, if im not mistaken is a memory card format that allows faster read write speeds and overall data quality improvement. Most higher capacity cards use it out of the box and consumers generally like the format better, not that you will see the difference.

It means easy acces from Windows machines (that do not read EXT), better free space allocation, but the most important features are that larger drive sizes are possible and there's no noticable file size restriction (FAT is limited to about 4GB max size per file, meaning you cannot copy a 6 or 8 GB movie to a FAT formatted drive).
One of the reasons I chose this tablet. Eagerly awaiting the update for the WIFI only version (SGP312)
I dont have the update, and I am using exfat

WiFi only models always had exFAT support. It was the LTE models that were missing exFAT support.
So does it support 64gb micro sd? I need to get one, however official sony pages write that SGP321 supports up to 32gb only.

I have the WI-FI only model and use a class 10, 64gb card with no problems.

That's the deal. As on wifi models sony states that max card is 64gb, while LTE version has 32gb. And I could not figure out what could be the reason for that. And as I don't have 64gb card around to try or on, it's kind of risky to get that without being 100% sure that it will work properly.

Hey guys,
I've got a 32gb tf300 and a 32gb SD card. I've seen a few posts of people saying they use their SD card as internal memory. I've found a few posts but they are always device specific. Can anyone provide me additional information regarding this? Is it a universal process? Pros/cons of doing it? Thanks for your help
I dont think you can since android 4. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong though

I completely agree and I'm by no means scratching for space, its perhaps more of a learning exercise than anything else. Though it would be nice to be able to pin all of my music for offline listening with plenty of room to spare

I saw the thread on the tf201 where they did mount the data partition and it really speeds up tge slow data transfer rates on the prime.

I guess you could... But with even the 16gig version and a sd card you should be straight. 64 gig class 6 sd card 65 bux... Can't complain, 32gig class 10's are 30 and under.

Yes you can use 64 gB cards...I know of one guy who has 64 gb and 128 gb cards on dock in addition (total 288gb ..32+64+64+128 on his tf300)

Seriously how many games do you play at a time? ...I think 32gb internal is enough ..get the music, books, videos and rest on SD card...and if need lots of memory ...get a portable large usb drive 1 TB or so and connect to dock or USB adapter

Google search "counterfeit sd card". Maybe that is the issue.
Or if you have a windows 8 PC with an SD card reader and a full size SD card adaptor, try using the built in "Disk Management" utility to see the actual room on the card and to reclaim it if it is there.

they pretty much are I never had an issue with them just exchange it if you just got it and test it while your still in the store..
I have read about the San Disks having issues with this phone. Forget where. The 64gb Samsung solved those issues. They didn't talk about smaller Samsung cards. And don't remember if it was only a certain size San Disk card.

The OP said the card reported limited storage on other devices as well, but didn't say what other devices, so I'm thinking it is a problem with the card in general this time.
i'm running a Sandisk 64gb right now for about a yr had it in my S3 and now in my S4 and a 32gb sandisk before this one no issues

OS takes 3 GB.
Because we don't want a massive 5.5 inch display, we want something more portable that we can use one handed. And 16GB is more then enough. Unless you have like 20 GB of music (I only keep 3 GB of music or so my my phone), you really don't need an SD card slot. And Nexus updates and AOSP really top it off for us on XDA, not to mention the price without a contract. You can't even put apps on the SD card anymore, so SD cards are pretty much useless now. On a tablet though, I understand the need for an SD card for movies and whatnot. 16GB also does not make a device outdated. People don't look at 16GB iPhone 5s and think its outdated (Well the hardware at least...).

Because to some people space is not the first reason why they buy Nexus 4. They dont want to store entire music collection, or whole library of videos, or lifetime of pictures on their phone. If you lose it; good luck finding it with all your precious personal data.
Its common sense not sure why its a hard question for you.

That is pretty much it. I realy don't feel like I'm lacking any space on my nexus 4 and I barely even use cloud services. The only cloud service I actually use is google drive but that's just to back up my pictures and documents in case I lose my phone.
I remember when I had my Nokia 8 with 16gb onboard storage and a 32gb SD card and I barely used half of the total storage space that was available. So 16gb on the Nexus 4 is more than enough.

I didn't even notice that having a more limited space (by that I mean cant-be-expanded space, not the 16gb, 16gb is well enough) would work that nice for my own organization.
I'm one that still have a 500gb desktop, a 320gb laptop and some SD cards for data transport. And not really because I can't afford more. It's just that, every time I almost fill up a drive/device and think on expanding it, I happen to see how much useless clutter I'm keeping in life. I'm happier since I took the detachment path.

Thanks! I didn't want to actually do it (per se) just wanted to know if it was possible - the reason I discovered that it was possible with the two HTC handsets was that the wife's Surround's internal card failed (must have burnt out) and I figured it out and replaced it, and then upgraded the memory of the HD7 the same way- People worry about memory in phones so I wondered why people don't just upgrade the internal storage, thanks for explaining
I want to know if there is a chance to put a 64gb sd card on the RAZR M with no problems? and what 32gb micro sd card can you recommend me to buy: Sandisk Ultra or Samsung EVO?
