Ok this is going to sound really stupid but hear me out I'm POSITIVE I didn't delete the videos off my phone.
So yesterday I was out with some friends just chilling and I took some pretty funny videos of some of my friends. To share them with my friends I decided I was gonna upload them to youtube, but I couldnt do it directly from my phone for some reason. So I decided to email both video files via gmail to myself then upload them later on the computer. I check a couple hours later and the message is still sending, because of the amount of memory both videos were I assume, so I decided to give up and just find them on the sd card then move them to my pc. So I delete the message that was sending with the attached files since I wasnt going to go about it that way anymore, but then I go back and look through my phone and notice I cant find the videos. By attaching them to my gmail did I move them off the SD card?
I don't know about your main problem but in order to send pics/videos your carriers mobile data must be on, it will not work if only WiFi is enabled.

Sorry I knew it was too confusing. The uploading wasn't the main problem, my main question is if by me attaching those video files to my email then deleting them while they were still in the sending process, did I basically just delete those files off my sd card too??
It shouldn't have deleted the videos, not sure how that could have happened.

I have a problem with the gallery app too!! Looking closely one of the random camera videos, it has a screenshot from a different video I did delete. How is this possible.. I may have deleted the two videos by accident because of this. Is there any sort of trashcan?

Have you tried using a program to locate the deleted files and "undelete" them?

You can "undelete" from SDCARD with 3rd party applications, I have done long time ago. But I am not sure you can do it since android writes/modifies sdcard too much.

Hello All,
I been having problems with my Gallery photos. It seems like they disappear or does not want to show as if it is corrupted. Photos that are saved on computer and moved to my SD card most of the show up and the ones that will not show up is there when i select it in the gallery (but not show up as an icon).
But recent photos taken with nexus camera will show up but then a day or so it will disappear (icon will not show up in gallery) and when i click on the blank icon it will not show up at all (as if it is corrupted). As soon as I take a picture with the nexus camera I can go to the gallery and select it and click on it to enlarge the picture but its after a day or so it disappears.
So I drag the missing pictures to my desktop on my laptop and it says picture can not be shown. What happen to my recent photos taken with my camera phone? Please help.
I have tried killing the gallery app and still no luck and also restarting the phone.
thanks

Not sure if this is against the rules to bring up an old thread but.. atleast i used the search function!
Im having this problem on my Galaxy S2.. and... is it sure that theres a problem in the internal sdcard?
Can it not be fixed by some different kind of reformat or something?
Or do i just need to go somewhere and have the sdcard replaced.
Try replacing your SD card? that at least eliminates one possibility.
Anyone know whats going on? I guess this has been happening for about a week. All my old pictures are there, but when I reboot, any new pictures I took will just disappear from the phone
Im also on EC05 / Syndicate 1.2. Never had this issue before though
Ok I did a full wipe... and now it deleted ALL of my pics... Whats going on???
All the folders and other things remained intact, but all my pics from the DCIM folder are gone. Even other pics like icons saved in a download folder are gone.
Always backup your card fire this reason. I had to odin back to stock and then root and reload srf. All my pics stay now. Not sure what caused it. Thought it was because it is a new sd card.

By "full wipe" you don't mean "Factory data reset" under Settings -> Privacy do you?
As far as the original problem is concerned is the issue that the files were actually gone from the SD card or just that they didn't show up in Gallery and what not?
When I said full wipe I meant through CWM, so it shouldnt have wiped my pics out like that. I did do a backup thankfully though its a couple months old so I lost a bunch of things.
Its the same SD card Ive used since November or so. I guess I will format the SD card fresh and then copy over what I had saved.
This problem has returned for me with new pictures. I dunno.
Is everyone having this using a theme?
I think theres a broken framework.

I'll ask again... Are the files being removed from the SD card or just from Gallery?
No clue with SRF but "Media Storage" should be running (Settings > Manage Applications > Running Applications).
Clearing the data for this app will clear out Gallery/Music/Video/etc (just the displayed items, not the actual source files). The media scanner should run (scan) shortly after booting and display a notification.
Not sure how to manually fire off the media scanner but if the files still exist and simply don't show up for you then this would be my first troubleshooting step (searching Google for "android invoke media scanner" pointed towards some apps/methods).
Maybe this helps, maybe it doesn't

It's deleting them. It's a problem with themes. When I switched back to SRF not themed the problem stopped.. I also didn't have an issue with Emotionless Beast.

Pop the card out and put it in a computer. See if the pics are on the card that way. It's possible they are on the card but whatever program you are using to look for them isn't finding them. for instance, if you are using Gallery and you have disabled media scanning then it will never know about new pictures.

It deleted them off the SD card permanently. I have no idea how it was able to do that. Every image no matter where it was saved on the SD card was wiped out.

I tried that after I couldnt save my new pictures several times as well as trying fix permisisons. Nothing worked. I finally did a wipe of everything in CWM and reloaded Syndicate 1.2. When it loaded up all my pictures were gone.
Yeah I started about this in Q&A a couple days ago.
It cant just be a coincidence that its happening to us all at the same time.
Must be something were all trying out thats mmessing it up.
Only thing I can think of that I flashed last was that Heinz theme (which is beautiful if I may say so myself).
Whats the last thing you guys flashed before you got that problem?

I think this started after I installed some new themes- it was either Blue Myst or Shake + Bake. I didnt realize my pictures werent saving since I didnt reboot my phone for a while

Yeah the Shake n Bake is the Heinz theme I meant. Maybe thats what caused iit since The Root said the same tthing as well..
Shame because that theme is gorgeous.
We should all ttry Odin-ing than just flashing SRF 1.2 and a kernal and see how it goes for a few days.

Hey guys,
I've been searching around, but I can't find a clearcut fix, so maybe someone here has some insight. Recently I started noticing that random pictures started dissapearing from my gallery, seemingly (but not 100% sure) after the kitkat update on my Note 3. Before I also saw some pics dissapear (a couple I downloaded) but I didn't put much thought into it.
Now, after the update, I was sarting to notice more pictures have dissapeared. The thing is, if I go into whatsapp, select a convo and click on media I actually see the pictures and all, but in the gallery in the "whatsapp images", and in "all images" album they are nowhere to be found. I tried for a solution on google, but to no avail except rescanning the media. Usually that would be taking the sd card out and put it back in to rescan the card, but it refuses. The weird thing is that every app in the store that deals with rescans imediatly Force closes when starting the scan. I mean all of them, and I installed about 10. I have no cfw's or roms running so I can't figure out what the issue is.
Obviously I tried resetting, rebooting and all the usual stuffs.
ANy help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dylan

Did it work out for you?
You see - I seem to have run into the exact same issue.
Running 4.4.2 stock rooted.
Reflashed with Mobile Odin
Injected Root, SU, and Mobile Odin
Wiped Dalvik-cache & user data.
Reinstalled everything.
Improvement: Zip, Zilch, Nada.
Still forced closure on media scanners :crying:
Help!! (sniffle).

Hey guys I have a weird issue where my gallery app is not seeing some of my pics on my external sd card. The pics it is not seeing are pics that I had moved onto the card from my computer. They are in the DCIM folder along with some pics I have taken with my device. Currently only the pics taken with my device are showing in the gallery app. Anyone else having this issue?

In my case the gallery shows only pictures saved till a given date. Lasta night I made an experience: Dismounted SD card and Mounted it agais, amd the result is that now I get even less pictures displayed.
However I can find and use them using root explorer, but not with any gallery app
I also run some sd-fix app's but with no result
very strange

Thanks pasil. Hopefully somebody else might chime in with some other ideas. I've tried everything so far. It just doesn't make sense. The .jpg files are saved in the same place as the other .jpg files that are pictures I have taken with my phone. There is no logical reason why those .jpg pics show up and not the ones from my computer. The gallery app should pick up all .jpg files.

That maybe stupid suggestions. Can you access those "invisible" picture using stock file manager? If yes, try to create new folder using stock file manager and copy/move few pictures for testing. Check if new folder with pictures shows in gallery.

Ok so this is really weird. If I download a pic from my drive account it does show up in my gallery. Also, if I move one of the photos that is not visible in gallery on my sd card to my internal device storage then it also becomes visible in my gallery. So the issue is isolated to photos moved onto the ext sd card from my pc. I'm hoping someone smarter than me can come up with a fix because I have many photos I like to keep downloaded on my ext sd card.
What about moving them back to sd card. Try to create folder on sd card using stock file manager and move pictures to that folder. I have no problem storing pics on my sd card.

Ok so problem solved! Upon your advice I created a folder on my sd card and moved the pics there and they showed up! Turns out if you have them saved anywhere in the DCIM folder on the SD card they won't show up, but if you move them out from there they show up in the gallery app just fine.
instaled Quickpic and now I can see all photos and pictures
