Nexus 4 can't receive Google hangouts message notification - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Recently, I found out I can't receive hangouts message notifications any more even I open the app. If i want to see the message i have to logout and login again. It is very annoy.
Before i can receive the message randomly sometimes work and sometimes not working. But since yesterday I can't receive the message anymore.
NB: It works well on iPhone, also on my phone other IMs work well (skype, wechat and whatsapp)
Anyone has the same problem or are there anyway to fix?
Thanks

I would start by clearing cache and data in the app:
Settings > Apps > Hangouts > Clear cache & Clear data
Settings > Apps > Google Play services >Clear cache & Clear data
Then reset the preferences in "Google Settings" and sign in and set the preferences in "Hangouts". If this does not fix the issue, you may need to remove and re-add your Google account to your phone.

Thanks, i just did the first two steps + uninstall hangouts and install again. So that works. Just wondering why? Maybe I install the new version of google play service update manually yesterday?
Cheers

GMail all screwed up, won't sync or send

Ugh, my gmail is totally horked up. I can't get it to send a message and sync is all screwed up. I'll read messages, mark as read, and archive them, but they're still showing up in the unread messages count.
I've checked the sync settings, and everything appears to be in order. Mark messages as read in desktop gmail, and poof, they come back again.
Any ideas?

This has happened to me a couple of times. Try clearing the Market data/cache in Applications (Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Market). Alternatively, you can simply uninstall then reinstall Gmail, which is what I did.

I finally got it worked out. Went to Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > GMail and cleared all the data. It took a few seconds to sync up again but now all is well.
Glad you got it sorted.
Just noticed in my last post that I told you to clear data for the Market, when I meant Gmail. Hope that didn't cause any confusion.

i had this issue when i tried to restore a system backup of CM RC4 and it just messed up my main gmail account (got 2 accounts the second one works fine) ... i couldn't resolve it by clearing the gmail data, formating cache etc... so i just flashed a new ROM and that took care of it ... i know that might not be the solution ur looking for but hey i got too annoyed with it and didnt want the headache lol

[PLK-AL10] Android 6 - B325 or B326 - Google Contacts problem?

Hi all,
I recently received the B325 and B326 after a while (Android Marshmallow) update via OTA.
Everything works fine, except the Google contacts sync.
I tried to update the app of Google Contacts to 6.0 but no luck.
I also tried to remove and reinstall Google play services, but no luck as well.
It's just me or someone else have the same issue?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thank you.

Glad to know I'm not alone
No sorry, I have no workaround for now on tap.
Another guy says he's using Google Contacts v. 0.5 (the old one, not updated with hi-app and works perfectly)
We should try with an older apk of Google Contacts, but make no sense.
There is a new B326 - Installed but I still have the problem.
I do not have any trouble.
I am installing this way:
1. Downloading and installing the Google Play Store, Google Calendar Sync and Google Contact Sync with HiApp.
2. I opened the Google Play Store and I set google account - then turn off the Google Play Store.
3. Go to Settings - Apps:
**** a) the Google Play Store - Storage - and clear data and cache;
**** b) the Google Play services - Storage - (clear cache) - Manage space - clear all data;
**** c) the Google Calendar Sync - storage (and clear data and cache) - Permission (Calendar on) - Set individual permission - check the Trust this application;
**** d) the Google Contact Sync - storage (and clear data and cache) - Permission (Contacts on) - Set individual permission - check the Trust this application.
4. Ponownie open the Google Play Store and accept the Google Play Terms of Service.
5. Restart the phone.
6. Go to Settings - Accounts - Google - and sync now.
That's all.
Thank you, in your way works!
Before I never tried c) and d) point (didn't knew about them)
Thanks a bunch!

Settings crash every time I try to access my Google account settings

Hello! Today I've tryed to disable these annoying picasa notifications on my phone but I cant access to my google accounts becouse whenever I go to settings>accounts and then try and tap on "Google", I get the " unfortunately, settings has stopped working" popup. Any ideas how to fix this? Many thanks!
I've tried to restart the phone even to factory reset but those doesn't work
Samsung Galaxy S4 GT-I9505
It has been asked and answered before.
It's related to a newer update to Google play that causes the issue.
Either uninstall the updates, or, if the option is grayed out, hit disable and that will allow you to uninstall the updates.
Or you can wait until Google updates again.

Google Accounts, Unfortunately Settings has Stopped.

Hi, I have Intl Version of Note 3 LTE, Rooted on normal firmware, Nothing Special.
Recently i lost many contacts and after searching i found that it is related to my google account, each time i go to Settings-->Accounts-->Google i get "Unfortunately, Settings Has Stopped"
Here is what i tried so far.
1- Cleared Cash and Ram--------->No Result
2- Clearing Settings Data and Cash------>No Results
3- Updating all apps from store then repeating 1 and 2 ------No Results
4- Cleared cash and data of (Google Play Services and Store) then Same to Google Account Manager and disabling it, Deleted (Sync Folder and accounts.db & Accounts.db-Journal from Device/Data/System)---->Restart--->Enable Google Account manager, I manager to delete google Account, when i set it up again the whole problem came back.
5-Tried in Safe mode.
I cannot access it to sync contacts or anything related, I cannot factory reset as i shall loose my whatsapp data since i moved to another country and my old sim is deleted)
Please help ASAP
The problem is because u moved to another country. Try to use Market Unlocker and set to ur original country.

Hi! I had this same issue and it was irritating the bejesus out of me. I didn't find a fix but I found a work around to get into the account sync settings: open your stock gallery app, hit your menu key, click settings and bam you're in. I hope it works for you as well!

gmail no longer auto-syncing (Nougat)

Since the Nougat update, my gmail account no longer auto-syncs or receives pushed messages, even if the gmail app is open when the message should arrive. If I sync manually, I immediately see the pending messages.
Power-saving is not on. I've double-checked the phone's auto-sync toggle and the notification settings for the gmail app and for this particular gmail account, in the app and in the Application Manager. Other devices receive push messages in gmail for the same account. Other apps (such as Google Voice) successfully push messages to the phone, resulting in immediate notification. Doze optimization is turned off for gmail. I tried clearing data and cache for gmail and then reestablishing the account, but that didn't help.
Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?
If you haven't tried already, reboot to recovery and wipe cache partition, it's worth a try.
Do you have any apps disabled?

For what it's worth, I'm having the exact same issue on my phone since the Nougat update! It also happens with my AT&T (home) voicemail viewer. I used to get notifications immediately when I got a message at home, now it never tells me unless I open the app.

Thanks for the suggestions. Wiping the cache in recovery didn't help. The only disabled apps are DirecTV and Fullscreen (and no task/power manager apps are in use).
I've noticed that it's not just incoming messages that don't auto-sync; it doesn't auto-sync in the other direction either. If I delete or archive a message in the gmail app, I don't see that change on other devices until I manually sync the gmail app.
As a workaround, Samsung's Email app is auto-syncing properly.
Now I'm seeing the same problem with Samsung's Email app too.
I was able to fix this problem (and also the absence of my phone from the Android Device Manager listings) using some combination of these methods:
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/play/X3f4PmL7Zf8
http://forums.androidcentral.com/an...vice-manager-how-fix-devices-not-showing.html
I solved the problem uninstalling all the gmail updates and stopping the autoupdates from the play store. If I use the original version of gmail (first installation on the phone before udates) it syncs perfectly. Hope this can help. And hope samsung and google can solve the problem!
I noticed this issue only goes away when you turn off power saving...
@ Isidrology is right, for the S7 with nougat I went to settings, device maintenance, battery, battery usage, hit the 3 dots in upper right corner, optimize battery usage, change drop down to all apps, and deselect gmail and whatever else you don't want doze messing with your phone. I deselected google opinion rewards as well and 10 minutes later I got a new survey!
Thanks William5, it was well hidden but it seems to work

Thanks! This seems to have solved the problem on my Sprint S7.
In Android 7.0 Nougat Samsung Galaxy S8+, there is no GMail under Device Management-->Battery-->Unmonitored Apps
I have had this phone for 6 months and email only gets refreshed manually. Even when refreshing manually I usually have to do it twice for any email to appear. I have tried every other setting I can find.
