Lenovo K1 - *everything* force closes on startup - Thinkpad Tablet General

Hi guys,
One of my cousins has a Lenovo K1 tablet. Recently when we booted it up and as soon as we unlock the lockscreen on initial start up, EVERYTHING force closes. We get pop ups about various processes that force closed and all we can do is press "OK" and the pop ups just keep coming and coming.
My cousin isn't very tech savy. He doesn't even remember what he was installing or what he was doing when it started doing this. He doesn't even know which Android version it has. All we can assume is that it is running stock. The basic font and theme makes me think it is on ICS but we aren't sure. The pop ups are so irritating, we can't even go into settings or do a factory reset
Another bad thing is that my cousin has lost the data cable. All he has is the tab and the power adapter for charging.
Is there any future to this tab ? What can I do to help ? I am not even sure whether there is a recovery option in this K1 tablet or not and how to boot into recovery.
If I am successful in booting into recovery, I can hopefully flash one of the latest 4.2.2 JB roms here
Any help in this regards will be highly appreciated.
Thanx a lot in advance. Desperately waiting for a reply

Hi guys,
It's been a very long time since I got a reply, but nonetheless I'll try again and this time with pics.
I am going to order the data cable now either from the US Ebay site or DX.com site.
But in the mean time, now I have the tablet in my hands, and when I start it up, it shows this lockscreen...

}
In the lower right corner, you can see the battery icon and there it says "No internet connection".
After that, when I unlock it, it immediately shows VARIOUS Force Close popups, which look like this...
And when I try to LONG PRESS the power button, it simply shows this message "Power Off - Would you like to shutdown" and there is OK and Cancel. It looks like this...
From the looks of the lockscreen, it seems that it is stock ICS or something. I am not sure. I am unable to open or go anywhere When long pressing the power button, there is NO OPTION for "Boot into recovery" or anything. Is there any way I can factory reset this tab WITHOUT the data cable ? I have ordered the data cable, but it will take at least 10 to 15 days to reach me.
What would you guys suggest I do ?
Thanx a lot in advance for any help

Alright, so I did a lot of research and found out that my only option is to order a data cable and connect the tablet using that data cable to the PC in APX mode and reflash.
Thought I should mention it in case someone has problems like me and comes looking for answers

Once you have the data cable follow the instructions for flashing a rom with NVFlash, I would suggest KASCHEMME.S CM 10.1.

9100 3G bricked, or something worse?

Hi, I'm a Newbie as You can see I will try to describe my problem. I have a qtek 9100, and I (being so dummy) flashed a wrong hard spl from another phone, (I don't know, from what phone, I just surfed google) and now the phone doesn't do anything, I tried to cold reset it but it didn't worked, I tried to push all the buttons and power it on, that didn't worked too can You suggest me something? its a 3G model, if You need more info, just ask, I will try to answer
could Anybody Help me?
Please
...heh....
Please provide more info about your phone. What's the exact model. If you look under the battery of your phone you can see the model.
I think that you mistaken something. There is not any 9100 3G model. At your phone is there a second camera?-
sorry I mixed up sthg.
it's a T-Mobile phone, it was CID-Unlocked, and i don't know exactly, but under the battery it's written that it's wiza200
Take a look at this guide & follow the steps one by one. I hope that this will work.
If this don't work & you are sure your device is CID unlocked you can try flashing T-mobile 2.26 (with a little search you will find it ).
T-mobile have saved my a-s a lot of times .-
sorry, but that didn't helped for me.
the phone is not responding to anything, it is like a brick
when i press the camera button and the on/off button, nothing happens, no boot loader screen at all

Are you sure your battery is not completely dead? Do you have the original 1.0A charger?
Yes, I'm sure about the Battery
I Don't have the original charger, but I test the Battery with another phone, and it works fine..
I flashed a Wrong SPL.. isn't that the problem? and I don't know how to bring it back
I don't have time to search it but you can search for ''jump start'' or ''kick start''. It is a way to start your Wizard with a similar problem as yours. Simply you connect a 9v or 12v (I don't remember) to your battery & then you put it in your phone & it starts.
As you can see I can't remember exactly what you must do. Search it. The exact instructions are in the forum .-
Sorry, That didn't worked for me too.
The phone is Dead..
and I need to Bring It Back to Life..
You still haven't provided enough specifics about what happened and is happening to your device. Do any lights come on? What specific rom did you flash it with? You are going to have to search through the past discussions. Don't lose heart - others have gone through a similar ordeal.
Well, at least you can still sell it for parts...
I'm sorry to hear about your mistake, but that's why there are so many warnings to read and read more before flashing.

So that's it?
It's a brick?
The light does shine, but just after many random pushes of on/off button, reset and camera button. sometimes ir shines for a long time, and sometimes for just a second.
and i don't remember which rom did I flashed..
it was a long time ago..
H-Jtag wouldn't help?

download mode boot loop problem

HI,
I have an SPH L720 that was working with the stock rom, I assume latest update but I'm not sure.
Something happened now it won't boot the OS, won't boot to recovery, it will boot to download mode but immediately reboots once in download mode.
I can't get odin to see it nor can I access it via adb sitting at adb wait-for-device while I put it into download mode.
It doesn't seem to matter if the sim chip/sd card are in or out same behavior. I'm sure the battery I'm using is charged.
Any suggestions on how to fix this? Ideally I'd like to get some photos off the internal sd card, or at the very least reflash the stock rom to make it usable again.
thanks
Are you sure the battery has a good connection? Try wedging in a piece of paper or plastic to ensure that your battery connection isn't loose. Also the power button has a tendency to stock on these devices, try paying the power button very forcefully a few times, I had this problem with my S4 and eventually needed to take it apart and clean the power button.

thanks for the reply, i checked those and tried that, i think power and battery connection are okay. Pretty newish phone so it's in good condition.
I ordered a usb jig off ebay, hoping maybe it'll let me get into download mode and stay there, but not too hopeful

Can't boot to download mode, twrp, sytem and so on

Hi Guys, I need help, I cant boot my device, the blue led always on and cannot turn off the device.
I tried to look over the forum but I found nothing similar to my case.
first. I always have random freeze and rebooting, none of custom roms helps, then I try several kernels, none of it worked. I booted in safe mode, still the same. and I flash stock several times but still the same.
and yesterday, it turned off, wont booted or turned on at all, even button wont work, when I connected to charger, it wont show led, I guess my battery is the problem. then I shake my phone gently, finally it booted.
and this morning, it suddenly turn of to boot screen, I cant event enter recovery or download mode. try force restart several times but then it show s7edge boot screen then show the black scrren and red writing. now I cannot turn it off.
I tried to connect to smart switch, it recognized my device but stated that my device is not supported for initializing.
I cannot even connect it to charger.
Anybody please help me, before I take it back to service centre.
thanks in advance

hi there, exactly, I never saw something like this before. I couldn't turn off. so I just leave it in cool room (16 degree celcius, air conditioned room) to prevent it over heating and explode ( lol I was scared lol)
and it just turn off, and I tried to enter download mode again, it worked, but lol when restarting it stuck and bootloop again (freeze at bootloop).
I guess I need to take it for service though, I am pretty much sure it has something to do with hardware
That's the Bootloader Exception BUG. Not really a bug, but defect. This error is shown when there are bad blocks on the flash nand chip. Some users had luck continuously trying to reboot to download mode. Others didn't. Either way it is a hardware defect. You better give it to service.

wow thanks a lot!!! I thought so, It must be hardware related issue. I will bring it to service center tomorrow.
appreciate a lot ^^

HDX 7 encryption unsuccessful during reboot

Greetings All,
Hoping some are still here and riding the old school Fire tablet bus, i purchased a Fire HDX 7" when Amazon first thought they had a chance to grab a chunk of the high end tablet market (epic fail), I love the hdx both for graphics and sound and never had a single issue with it.
Then 2 days after the warranty was over on a typical reboot i get a screen telling me Encryption Unsuccessful (see the provided image of exact screen), read all the BLAH BLAH below that and then touch the Reset Tablet button below to do the only option of a Factory Reset. After trying that many times and then spending hours upon hours on the phone arguing with tech support where in a nut shell they said "YOU'RE SCREWED, IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY, BUY A NEW FIRE TABLET".
I chose the second option and said SCREW YOU AMAZON and bought a Samsung tablet, this all culminates up to this day and time where while cleaning out a closet I realized I still have that old 7" HDX. Thinking to myself "NO WAY THIS WOULD STILL POWER UP", well after less than only 10 minutes plugged in it did power up and booted right back to that exact same error screen from years ago.
So to shorten this rant just a bit let just get to me finally saying, I want to fix this hdx and use it again and could care less if it is in any way associated with Amazon upon getting it running.
Any advice whatsoever on how i could actually get it to boot to a usable condition would be greatly appreciated.
I am sorry but i do not recall the fire OS that it was running on when this happened, as well i do not own a PC at all so that limits the options i know.

Just to add a bit more detail for clarification, I have also tried factory reset from the bootup screen using Power+volume up this seems to start the process of Erasing but once complete it returns to the encryption unsuccessful screen once again. The functions of the tablet seem to work fine as it will even take a screenshot while this error screen is visible, as well the volume is fully functioning and controllable. But the factory reset has never completed successfully and always reboots the tablet back to the same screen shown in the image provided.
I am completely stumped as to any next step to try.

Both Google and System UI crashed

Here is the deal both Google and System UI crashed on my S5e last night while I was reading and now I am unable to reboot/power down the tablet using either the Power button or the onscreen controls. As you can see it is just the 2 onscreen buttons that I get and n othing happens expect they dissapear when I try and tap either. Also I am unable to use ADB in this sitution to force a reboot/power down as can be seen in the second image. At this point I am at a lost on what to do besides wait for the tablet battery to die which in its current state could take days if not a week+ considering that nothing is showing up.

You try a 20+ second long press on the power button (if that's correct for that model) to do a hard reboot?
Yes I have I have held the button for a bloody minute aka 60 seconds and no reboot/poweroff

The only other thing you can do is physically disconnect the battery or wait for it to discharge.
If you get it to reboot go into safe mode and backup all critical data. Then factory reset.
If that fails it will need reflashed or the hardware issue causing it fixed.
That is what I thought and as I said it can take up to a week+ for this to discharge since it was nearly full when it happened
If you used a SD card as a data drive and it's not encrypted at least the data can be salvaged.
It may not be as bad as it looks but I'm thinking a mobo failure. I've never seen this type of behavior with any of my Samsung's.
Recertified ones can be had for $200 or so but will likely be upgraded to the latest OS version for it. If you're running on Pie you may not like it.
I bought this one for $275 back in 2021 and ended up receiving a used one when Amazon said it was suppose to be new so yeah something like this was bound to happen sooner or later

I would've returned it. I use one vendor where I got a new N10+ a little over a year ago. His prices aren't real low but he's trustworthy. Their price is $600 for your model. He buys lots of unsold new devices. There's lots of scamming going on, something I noticed when I was shopping.
Apparently you have to hold power and volume down to force power off a Samsung device so you missed a step there. Also the tablet seems to be working fine now after doing so

Correct. Hard reset is both buttons; something I never have to use. However long pressing just the power should force it to shut down.
Try clearing the system cache from the recovery menu.
