Does anyone know how to disable the home button from waking the phone? Its very annoying when it wakes it in my pocket. Since the hardware buttons poke out so far its a lot more prone to happen and its killing my battery.

it's only there when you're on your lockscreen.
It's there to activate Google Now
Can you imagine that this guy posted the latest CM nightly in the og dev subforum? Thread got moved to general pretty quickly since he isn't a CM Team member and the stickied rules state you can't post material you didn't make or for which you don't provide source. lol, "what is this circle thing"
Sorry that the above isn't helpful. I just don't think I'm going to forget the user name "theghazi" for a while.
Anyway, can you comment on what the other posters have said? Is it on your lock screen or in typical usage? You are probably referring to the Google Now shortcut. If you swipe up from a nav button, you can activate Google Now. I don't known what it could be on a lock screen. Could be the unlock threshold. I do to use a lock screen myself so I'm not sure what one even looks like.
I have a backlight problem with my HTC EVO Shift. The backlight has stopped working consistently. I believe it has something to do with the cable in between the slider part. When my phone is completely shut, the backlight is not working. When my phone is completely open (keyboard exposed) the backlight is not working. when my phone is in the halfway position (keyboard partly exposed) the backlight illuminates the screen and I am able to use the phone. It is very difficult to continue to use the mobile device in the halfway point. I have another mobile device on the way but I will need to see the screen in order to get the rest of my data off, or at least make a nandroid backup and go from there.
If it is not the cable then can someone point me in the right direction. If it is the cable/screen could someone tell me where to get a replacement. I am capable of doing repairs. I would rather not if it is avoidable.
thank you xda community.

Main flex cable could be your issue. Grab the part from eBay

If you're using the xda app, just add "solved" in the subject line. You may need to scroll up to see it...

If you edit your first post, the best way is to just add "[SOLVED]" to the beginning of your thread title
To give thanks, from the app either tap on the persons post and then hit the thanks popup, or on the computer theres a Thanks button under their name
Anyone getting a scrambled screen when pushing the power button to turn the screen on? the scrambled screen is only noticeable for a second or 2. Is it a defective phone? is it something to worry about? It only Happens once in a while.... 1-2 times a day.

Not to bring back an older thread, but I got a replacement device and have noticed the scrambled screen when unlocking a few times now. It doesn't seem to be happening on a majority of the phones or we would be seeing more threads/posts on this.
Not sure what to do now. Wait for an update that might never come or try to get yet another replacement as I am in my 14 day Window still.

I noticed screen banding on grey/ darker backgrounds, is this a normal issue? Is it a software issue or what?

Yes, it does sometimes, but not so often. Turning on the screen with power button also suffers from same delay. Fortunately not all the time though.
Same here. It do not occur normally, but at least a couple of times in a day use.

We are using first stock software and i hope in new software update or custom roms this problem will be solved. For me its irritating for such high end phone. I used s2 s3 s4 but never see sometime screen blinking like this.

I have the 9005 model, and it always turns off immediately (1/10th second?) with the power button. What sort of delay are you getting?

i have the 9005v model and i have no problem turning the screen off but it hesitates sometimes turning it on. i figured it was just my phone.
I notice that there is about a split second delay between pressing the power button and the screen turning on. Personally it doesn't really bother me that much but I can see how it would be an annoyance for others. I didn't actually notice this at all prior to reading this thread.
Damn my loss of innocence!
I got this too, somehow people say that it is related to how much the phone is using and whatever is in the RAM.
A software fix for this is plausible.

Nope, still none. Occasionally it has a slight delay when turning on, but never when turning off.
I'd suspect an app.

Yep, sometimes happens for me too. Probably some app doing something at the same time. Now with the S-View Cover, I haven't noticed any delays, when closing the flip.
I read the OP post several times before I realised you meant DELAY not Dealy!!
But I confirm mine does not have this problem (9005 version)

Mine takes like 5 seconds to turn on sometimes. By the time it turns on, it turns right back off cause it took so long.
Same here. I made even a thread about it also I have 9005 model and this delay annoys me very much. Was same problem om MJ1 and MJ3.
The issue is due to user applications running in the background. I have not noticed an issue myself but it's not classified as a glitch. Think of it like this:
Assume you are running a Windows based OS on your computer and you have a bunch of applications open. All of a sudden, you're in a mad rush to leave the office and you just click on Start | Shut Down. Your system engages the shut down procedure but then realizes you have open applications. You get the warning and you click "End Task". Windows will quickly terminate all open programs and shut down your system. In the interim, your system is in a delayed state before shutting down.
This makes logical sense and since you are powering off your device, the device is intuitive enough to understand you're powering off so it terminates all open apps running in the background but the question is... Why does this happen for some and not others. The only answer provided is it depends how many background applications are running and what resources are being utilized.
Hope this helps!
Happens sometimes when I've been busy. N9005, black
It's just an app that's a bit slow at shutting itself down.
