Greetings From Xperia Forums - Droid RAZR M Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello my friends i am from xperia forums Xperia J to be specific. i am trying to port cyanogenmod for locked bootloader and im having trouble getting it to boot past the CM boot logo. Xperia J has 4.1.2 stock jb and a 3.4.0 kernel. is there any tips you's can give me. some people have said that you also have locked bootloaders that you could help me

You're going to need to find a build prior to April 27th. From that date forward CM 10.1 was designed for unlocked bootloaders only. I dont have one but im sure someone here does.

sorry but I do not. I'm sure there are people here with locked boot loaders that would like to find it as well.

If you're really interested in locked BL work, I suggest you talk to Hashcode. He basically enabled any and all custom ROMs prior to our unlock exploit.
Also, the droid 3 and 4 are still in a locked situation, so you might have more luck there. Good luck!

How to unlock ATT S4's bootloader

Hello everyone, I just get ATT galaxy S4, It is so fancy, but ATT's craps sucks.
Does ATT S4's bootloader already been hack by XDAs?
If so, how to unlock it?
I just have the TWRP installed in my ATT galaxy S4, could I flash customized ROM and customized kernel now? Or I have to wait until the bootloader is unlock?

To start you off in the right direction though, read up on Loki as that is our bootloader bypass method...basically anything that has been lokid can be flashed...
But seriously read!!! Don't want to waste a headache and trouble shooting on a soft brick

The Loki thing still has me confused and curious what folks think... I've been through many of flashes and had good and bad issues over the years but unsure how I feel about flashing up a ATT S4. I've been leaning towards getting a Tmobile S4 with a unlocked bootloader and getting that unlocked since I feel like it will be a bit more bulletproof. Is that paranoia or is Loki close enough to a unlocked bootloader that I can basically do everything with as little risk as would be expected with normal device flashing?

THIS INFO IS EVERYWHERE! READ MAN. useless thread here serious.
hey there bud, sorry everyone feels the need to repeatedly tell you to search instead of ending the thread with an explanation. im also sorry everyone else feels like this information is readily available, when its the furthest from that. you will require some digging and deduction skills to acquire all the information needed to fully utilize the loki function.
Since att took it upon themselves to lock the bootloader, the kernel has to be properly provisioned before it will allow it to boot (if the kernel is not set up correctly, you will receive an error about unapproved software on the device and will have to restore sans odin....yuck), so our awesome drjbliss and the infamous adamoutlers have provided a tool called "loki" which will allow bypassing of the locked bootloader and allow us to run the custom firmware.
please ensure that whatever ROM you are running has been previously provisioned with loki, or you are flashing a custom kernel that has loki baked in. Alternatively, there is an auto loki tool floating around called "loki doki" that can be flashed after any ROM to pre-loki it before boot.
You can PM me with any specific questions, and all you trolls should learn to help instead of complaining. In the amount of posts it took to complain about the OP not searching, it would have only taken one post to clarify and then this thread would have simply got buried.

Been doing fine jd, thanks. Hope you are too.
Yes, I really like it. Not gonna Jailbreak, but my bank just started accepting Apple Pay. So, going to play with it. Something for an old man to have fun with.
It's just picking up steam as far as number of merchants, so ordered and will mess with the LoopPay FOB where AP isn't used yet. A year ago I would have sworn I would never use this techy stuff for banking. Must be getting soft.

[Q] My Razr M is not rootable, is there a way to downgrade to a lower version?

Ok so my whole problem is that im on system version 183.46.15.XT907 when its supposed to be 183.46.10.XT907. My question is that is there a way to get to 183.46.10.XT907. again? I've been at this for hours and i'm in desperate need for help.

As of now there is no way of rooting or downgrading with a locked bootloader.
Sent from my Scorpion Mini
That's a bummer, but for root part, maybe or maybe not. I don't think it's possible as Motorola took out some vital codes from Kit Kat ROM which allows root.

I was able to flash it down to .10 but my kernel was after June 3rd, something like July 27th or whatever and yeah this doesnt allow it to work. Oh well, I'm switching to an S3 In less than a month.

I suspect it's already unlocked as it's impossible to downgrade the kernel on a locked RAZR M (OEM signatures, you know).

You're outta luck. You ahould have flashed .10 first and unlocked the bootloader before you hop between the ROM version... .15 version permanently lock the bootloader.
EDIT: I looked at the pictures, however, I am suspicious of the claim. The reason being, the bootloader will check the kernel version, and if it's not agreed with the bootloader security key file (tz.mbn), the bootloader will refuse to touch it. If anyone else with the locked phone tries this harebrained experiment and come out without a softbrick, I may have to eat my sock.

yeah when i flashed over i "accidentally" did the wrong version (tut linked me to a wrong version I suppose) and now im piss out of luck, but like i said im not worrying about it since s3 within a few weeks or so. Hopefully one day it's able to Root though B)
EDIT: what exactly are you suspicious of? The claim that I went from 4.1.2 flashed to 4.4.2 but on .15 then down to .10?
If the eventual RAZR M update gets screwed up like the first one, it may get unlocked but I have grave doubt because Verizon have learned their lesson on this one: root = bootloader unlock, at least in the case of early Kit Kat update.
fellas i have received two moto M today and seems like this cant either root because this stupid 9mb of .15 update, since the kernal is after jun 3
towelroot
well any new exploit around the coner to try?
No root exploits right now, unfortunately. It's getting harder and harder to exploit the Kit Kat.

We need more LB support.

Hey guys, just a quick thread.
I think this phone needs more LB support. Has anyone even tried a bypass method for us with LB to be able to flash custom kernels? I know back when I had a Bell Motorola Atrix there was a hack that gave us the ability to unlock our bootloaders. Why aren't we trying to find one for this phone?
I understand that those with LB can't use the official method for unlocking the bootloader, but is there not a hack we could work towards? Has anyone even tried to unlock the LB Xperia Z2? There must be a way.
Besides that, I also think it would be good to have more LB support in android development. For example a CM11 that can be used on LB devices. I'm currently running Miui 4.4.4 and it supports both LB and UB.
Cheers

The best way to support LB is to have a rom version that uses the stock kernel. Hopefully this is what happens moving forward with the release of a sony lollipop update.

I think I saw from some other threads that the reason why we can't work towards unlocking non-unlockable bootloaders is because we need to break sony encryption or something like that?
I don't know, sorry.
We are at the peak of Locked Bootloader Support.
We cant do anything more unless someone wants to spend so much time to do so.
Cracking sonys bootloader encryption results essentialy in an unlocked bootloader hence thats somewhat pointless
We cant unlock a non unlockable Xperia unless as said the encryption is cracked
And sonys encryption is almost FBI level and it may even vary per Z2
Cm11/12 on locked bootloader is possible but its extremly complicated and setting up a rom like such on LB is complicated too
You have to root your device, install a custom kernel to the fotakernel given that its not bound by the bootloader then we have to make a modified rom which reboots the fotakernel then the custom rom that matches

Best to wait for OTA lollipop update then?
If it were standardized, say if CM11/12 took on the responsibility of releasing a LB rom, would it not make the process easier for everyone else?
Just do the same as me, sell the phone and buy another brand like motorola or something like that.
But nobody wants a Z2, hard to sell as hell.

Or just do your research and don't get a locked device.
Actually I think it shouldn't be too difficult to install cm11/12 on LB. There is a method which has worked now for some months on the Xperia SP which let you run any ROM on the stock kernel. I think these modified for LB ROMs load a custom ramdisk at a late point in the boot process. I'm not familiar with the way it works but I guess with some reasonable work amount it might be doable for the Z2 too. If someone is willing to try to port it pm me, I can provide you with the usernames of the people who made it on the XSP.

The easiest way is to change your phone to an unlock BL allowed: yes one.
If it was easy to run custom kernels on a LB , having an UB or LB would be practically the same...
I also have an unlockable phone, but it's my own fault for not researching better before buying the phone. i never had sony phones before, i should have researched more. Since the security of the z2 is very high i'm not expecting to run customs kernels anytime soon, if i ever need it it'll try to sell my phone and buy an unlocked one...

I think technically, we could see customized stock based ROMs. In fact, if you go to the download page for the pre-rooted firmware, there is a de-bloated version in there already. I think most people aren't super excited by that though. I'm happy to do my own stuff through GravityBox until AOSP is available.
