4.3 rooted, stock everything

try with wakelock detector or similar....
The statistics of default android battery gives no specific information

i tried wake lock detector .. it showed that the device is being held awake but in the wakelocks tab there was nothing that was keeping the device awake for so long

Do you have alarms or anything of sort? (it might matter)
Disable all syncs, try to off (most) of those chat apps like wechat and line etc(go to settings>apps force stop), wechat in particular drains quite a lot.
I don't use stock but mine is close to it but I deleted lots of bloats from TB.
I only leave whatsapp on.
Infact, try out using Airplane, if even in airplane the battery still sucks, try reflashing everything using bootloader.

the thread title says that your n4 doesnt go into sleep mode.. where do you have something showing this?? battery loss does not equal not going into sleep mode. have you checked if your device goes into sleep mode, or are you just assuming? use something like cpu spy to see if your device is going into sleep mode..

Indeed, try CPU Spy. I use unrooted stock 4.3 and mine deep-sleeps just fine.

Since update I'm having the same problem as OP has. Reboot solves problem for a day or two, but it returns.
I'm at the point when I'm ready to try factory reset.

yaaa evn i am looking for a solution

This is battery stats from the first day after OTA: http://imgur.com/Bn9B8FA
You can clearly see when device stop going to sleep, and Android OS drained battery for more than 11 hours.
When I saw this, I rebooted the phone, and next day everything was OK. Battery life was even better, than with 4.2.2. But after third day, Android OS was again on top of the list. Again, reboot had solved problem only temporary. Wake lock stats app does not show anything unusual. I'm runing stock not rooted firmware. If I do not find any solution, I'll just wipe it on weekend in hope it'll help.

I made a new thread with all the data, in hope that somebody could help figure this out, but two days and no one else posted there) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2392155
Nexus 4 is my main phone and I rely on it in my work very much, so I'm trying to postpone factory reset as far as possible. I think I'll have not very busy day on Thursday so I'll finally reset it and reinstall everything.

[FIX] Fix 50% Time Without Signal Bug

I found this while searching on google. I take no credit for this, but am posting it here so that you can use it too.
Basically it enables airplane mode and disables it at boot. It doesn't add any time to boot, because it coincides with the Media Scanning.
All you do is install it and forget about it.
Anyway, heres the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=938677
Ignore that it says 2.1 only... Works just fine on my ROM.

I actually had this installed for a couple weeks now. Phone boots and then goes into airplane mode. I did love the one time where my phone booted up, I got a phone call right and forgot about the airplane mode and it kicked me off the call!
It won't download to my phone and I'm stuck at work. Can anybody upload it here or post a drop box link for me? Thanks!
Edit: Forgot I can use Astro for the download.
Mike, what do you think of this explanation and fix? It is interesting to read there why this happens, if nothing else. I look forward to your ROM fix tonight!
I actually have 2 tasker events setup that takes care of this nearly transparently. On device shutdown tasker sets airplane mode and clears it on boot.
I just have to do it manually if I get some kind of random reboot or sleep/charge death.

ok and what is your percentage ?
I only realized this was an issue sometime last week and when I checked it was 50%.
Toggle airplane mode and within 10 mins it dropped to 38% and then went down to 17% a few hours later. But since then everytime I unplug or reboot I toggle airplane mode and most days it's at 0% ~ 5%

[Q] I'm using a Octa-Core Galaxy S4, ramdonly heats up and Battery Drain from "Media"
Hi, im currently using the galaxy sy i9500, and it was great for a first few days. Then started around 3 days ago, BAtrery started draining very fast, and my phone would randomly heats up, i can feel it from my pocket. And my bettery would go from 70% to like 50% in and hour without doing anything with it. i Disabled all the features, air view, smart scorll etc etc. I even enable the power saver mode which did not help at all. Anyone have an idea on whats going on? (see pics)
You are not the only one experiencing such problems.
1st of all make sure you have updated to latest software version. Then try to disable from the app manager: Samsung push, samsung apps along with google music play service (media has been draining your battery the most)
Are you also experiencing lag and difficult camera access?
If none of those worked maybe try to do a factory data reset or try flashing a stock firmware via ODIN.

[Q] i9500 randomly reboots, wifi doesn't work and other problems

Hi, I bought my GS4 i9500 around 2 months ago, and few days ago while I was listening to music, someone called me and I noticed that the phone was a bit hot. I'm not exactly sure that that was the source of this problem.
Anyway, when I put the phone down, it didn't work, and after a few seconds it rebooted.
Ever since it rebooted it keeps doing problems - it reboots once in a while, the wi-fi doesn't work, and the touch is delayed sometimes (it doesn't respond for a while, and after a few seconds it suddenly responds to all the gestures I did over the last few seconds.).
I tried factory resting it, change frimware, clear cache and everything, and still nothing worked. It still does these problems.
I took it to the store where I bought it and they flashed it, and still it didn't solve it.
The problem is I rooted the phone, and I'm afraid the warranty won't be accepted if I send them the device.
Anyone knows what the problem might be?
Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks.
It worked for me to go fully back to stock. Maybe give that a shot,

Noop, sorry man. when i did go fully back to stock it went off... i think its a warranty problem here.
well, i'm currently dealing with the problem too, it automatically boots itself, my reception goes off, eventough im not in a dead spot. but: it only happens if im on ~20% battery. i think its a softwaresided problem. im running on the normal stock touchwiz with android 4.2.2.
im gonna send it to the operator, maybe it really is a warranty-sided problem.

also have seen mention of "force stops" triggering this, advice was to not force stop anything for a while and see if it triggers again.

Mine has been doing the same ever since the kitkat update.
I am running an unrooted EE note 3 (n9005) in the UK.
Gsiff_daemon is constantly my top battery drainer according to the battery app (35% - 47%).
I have not been able to find any consistent method to either activate this rogue app or to get rid of it.
Is there any solution without rooting it as I understand that renaming it should do the trick?
Usually the problem is when you soft reboot.
It was reported somewhere that it is the GPS sensor daemon, but disabling it did not show any adverse effects for me.
Get a root file explorer and remove it/rename it to .bak

gsiff_daemon fix.
Hello all. I just posted this on another thread so i will copy and paste to save doing it all again.
*No root required*
Hey
This worked for me.
In settings and the application manager, under the 'All' tab. I found a program called 'unified daemon(EUR)'
I tapped on it and disabled it.
The gsiff_daemon has since not appeared on battery usage.
I also set Power saving mode and changed Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep, to never, in the advanced wifi settings. Select wifi option in settings then press menu tab and select advaadvancednced to find the option. This turns off wifi when it's not in use and automatically turns on when you turn off lock screen.
my battery has more than doubled.
Hope it works for you too.
In my informal testing I found that gsiff_daemon is somehow related to S Health (somehow keeps the sensors awake even if you're not using the phone). I disabled S Health and SensorService and the problem went away. Easier for us unrooted types.
Solved!

SERIOUS Battery drain here
PROBLEM:
About three weeks ago I started to experience serious battery drain. This is a significant difference in daily results compared to a month ago. Now, three weeks into it I am having to put my phone into ultra power save mode on a daily basis just to be able to function as I am getting 1-3 hours of use out of my phone at this point. The problem has gotten progressively worse, as time has progressed over the last three weeks. Today seems to be the worst with me LOOSING battery charge while it is plugged in, and not in ultra saving power mode, (My phone is loosing 1% about every 10 minutes) and only having about 10 minutes of expected battery time LOL.
ENVIRONMENT:
Today is 1/8/14
I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S5 (G9000T). I have had it for about 8-9 months, got it brand new (was replaced once 4 months into using it because of broken camera), but this is my second GS5 phone.
I am using Android software version 4.4.2
TROUBLESHOOTING:
Only app added in the last 3 weeks was HeyTell, which was about the time this problem started. Force stopping the app actually helped for about a day or two until the problem resurfaced. Finally deleting the app last week did no good.
Talking to T-Mobile, they recommended testing my gyro sensor.
Go to call screen and dial *#0*# and I get a test screen.
I pressed sensor and then test gyro. It failed. They recommended a master reset. DAMN, I HATE doing that. So much time to get it back to where I want it.... SOOOO many notes on how to set the phone back up LOL.
RESOLUTION:
I did a master reset today 2/9/15. They gyro is still showing a failure, so they are replacing the phone.
Same issue samsung s5 duos
Hello,
I had the same issue of the battery being used quickly by the gsiff daemon.
Thanks for your details of what this application is.
For the solution, I did a few soft restarts, a hard restart and activated the light power saving mode. After 2 days my phoned worked fine.
Don't have any more information.

How to stop gsiff_daemon?
1. Hot reboot your Samsung Android
2. Rename gsiff_daemon
3. Disable apps using gyroscope sensors

[Q] Fast battery discharge

My Nexus 4 is just over a year old. It has been performing really well throughout this period. A month back, the soft buttons on the screen stopped working and I got the screen replaced. The phone was working very well even after this. I am running only the stock Android. I haven't rooted the phone yet.
Over the last few days, the battery discharge has been fast and unpredictable. I have attached the Battery screenshot. I shall explain the sequence of events to describe the screenshot.
The battery goes from 40-50 to 0 in one go! (the first downward steep drop). Phone had already switched off. I connected it to a charging point and restarted the phone.
While the phone was being charged (the slow upward red slope), I did some research on this. Since, Google Play Services was consuming most of the battery, the following solution seemed to be good to follow.
(Disable Hangouts, sign out of Google+, turn ON Location Reporting, reboot, then reenable Hangouts and sign back into G+),
I tried this. Once I rebooted, the battery power was 56% !! (The steep upward climb)
I used it for some time. And kept it on charge to charge it completely. But after some time, the battery charge dropped to 19% (the second drop in the screenshot). I rebooted the phone again. And this resulted in the next battery charge spike upto 45%!!
I tried searching for Hangouts app or Google+ app on the phone. But they no longer exist in the app drawer.
Is this a battery issue? Or some software issue? Should I try a factory reset?
Edit1: Added a larger image of the battery stats.

That is some really strange behavior. It either can be a software or a hardware issue.
You may do a factory reset and install a factory image. Be sure that you charge your batterie to maximum first before doing the reset. If there is still this drops than it mostly is a hardware issue. Replacing the batterie could help.
Also a huge N4 fan. High five for that! ;D

Wouldn't a simple factory reset from the phone's menu suffice? What is the difference?
Like I said before, try a normal factory reset first and if this does not work then flash a factory image. In the most case a normal factory reset will do.
The difference between a reset and a factory image is like a white shirt you are washing. A reset is like putting this shirt in the washing machine if it has stains. It will be white and clean again. But after some time those stains wouldn't go away completely and your white shirt isn't that white like before anymore. Flashing a factory image will be like buying a new white shirt.
@harishvr9: If you want to be 100 sure it is not a software issue, you should flash the latest factory image on your phone with fastboot. For this, you will need a working fastboot or (Android SDK) on your computer, the N4 factory image from HERE and being able to boot into bootloader mode (VolDown+Power).

Now I am stuck on the "Lock State - Unlocked " screen

@harishvr9: The easiest way is to run the flash-all.bat (on Windows) or the flash-all.sh (Linux/OSX). It will flash the bootloader, the radio, reformat your partitions and copy the files on them.

I am back with an update. I had installed the factory image of 4.4.3 stock android. The system notified me about an update and the notification was lingering on the screen. So I ran the update. The weird thing was that the battery was at 85% before it restarted. After it updated and rebooted, the battery was at 36%!
Now what does this infer? Battery issue? Or 4.4.4 update issue?
Thanks in advance for the support !!
Why didn't you flash the 4.4.4?
Anyway, charge it to 100% and see what happens.

I would suggest to try this ROM out for a few days and if this issue still occurs, than it is no doubt this is a hardware issue.
Have you already charge your batterie to maximum once?

Why didn't you flash to 4.2.2 and waited for couple days. All of us that have same problem like you got it after 4.4.3

Did you mean to say 4.4.2 or 4.2.2 ? Guess 4.4.2 ran well on my device.
