Dead Trigger 2 Beta - Shield General

Could someone please post the apk for the Dead Trigger 2 beta that comes preloaded on the Shield? It's a free to play game so it's fine to post here. I would really appreciate it, i've been waiting for such a long time.

+1 Maybe a complete system dump from someone could help everyone and Project Sheild users in further development.
I would personally like to start playing around with the Grid application.

Neither of those apps come with SHIELD.

Then where do they come from?

I was wondering the same thing. Where do we get that app from?

As far as dead trigger 2, you wait till it's released and get it on the app store... Grid Client isn't the same as PC streaming, which also isn't it yet. Those are both from demo units.
PC streaming is in the system image.

So they are out, albeit not on every unit. No offense, but i'll decide for myself whether to wait or not on installing an app thank you very much.

Does anyone know when they are going to release DT2 in app store?

Madfinger stated at the end of July it would be the following month (August), so not long now.

It's been CLEARLY established that free to play applications are acceptable on XDA, you don't get to decide what's pirated material or not just because you don't like it.
If you have a problem with this thread report it and i'll handle it with the moderators myself, otherwise I don't understand what you're trying to accomplish here.

Initially just setting expectations, you've decided that everyone else has an unreleased game you want a copy of. I wanted to clarify that it wasn't actually on the devices. But your answer is "gimme gimme gimme". So I'll kindly point out to the moderators that the game is not yet released and the APK for it is actually still restricted distribution. Posting it on XDA is actually piracy, regardless of the eventual cost of the app.
Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium HD app

It's not unreleased that's just your opinion, it simply only comes with demo units. There are threads all over XDA about porting/sideloading preloaded apps from other devices so again what is your point?
There is even precedent to support my claim, back before the Motorola Droid X was released, it was the only phone with Need For Speed Shift on Android. I happened to have a demo unit and I released it on XDA, WITH FULL SUPPORT FROM THE MODERATORS. It was also a free to play game.

He is clearly saying its not available to the public, he is not arguing the fact that freeimum APK are acceptable. They are and he agrees with you. What your not getting is the APK has not been released and any copies are pirates at the moment regardless of what you did for the Droid and Need for speed.
Not all moderators would probably agree with with posting a freeimum game before release date.

No, what you two don't understand is if it is an app already available on consumer facing devices in the wild, regardless of its saturation rate, it has been released. It makes no difference to me that only display units come with it pre-loaded, the fact remains that it is available now in some capacity. If Madfinger didn't wan't people playing its game it wouldn't have bundled it with devices hitting stores. The entire premise you are basing your arguments on is wrong. If you can't accept this simple truth AND the fact that moderators have already had a lengthy discussion on this very topic at the links provided above, then I have nothing more to say to you.

There's your mistake. It's not on those types of demo unit. It was side loaded into tradeshow units. Grid is more readily available, but less useful since it needs an account.

Piracy also only means violating the terms of license, which still applies to free to play games, my bet is that the dead trigger license won't allow 3rd party distribution, or basically XDA reposting of an APK which isn't released.

Just because an apk was put on a demo or trade show unit doesn't mean that it is out in the wild. If the game is not in an open beta, it is not for public consumption, therefore not to be posted. I am sure they are out "there" somewhere, however at this time it can't be on here.
I especially like the blurb about Terms of Service. Something like that might be a worthwhile read.

Angrybirds!

This is under the dev part of the forum because I was going to see if someone could unpack the angrybirds.apk and remove the ad's from the game or if someone could post a early release download before the ad's were implemented. I love this game and I don't want to wait for Rovio to produce a non ad version...anyone?

AdFree, one of the best apps for a rooted phone.
That is stealing!!! Ads are there to supports the developers hard work! They deserve to make money and honestly they are even letting you download it for free, so either you wait until there is a paid version or just dont play at all.
You can just put your phone in airplane mode and the ads won't pop up.

You consider that stealing?....not really since they released the game without ads and then made ads for people to click on which I will never do and if you wanted to really think about "stealing" consider yourself a thief since you hacked your phone and are using apps that aren't approved from the manufacturer and running "illegal apps"...so w/e dude..I've been downloading music and apps off sharing websites like rapidshare since I was like 12 dude...they are stealing from us. These things shouldn't cost as much as they do ie: windows os and microsoft office its just ridiculous and everything else in the world and if that's what you think, like I already said you shouldn't root your phone.

You're not furthering any cause by being cheap. Also rooting one's phone is not piracy. Voiding your warranty won't land you in jail.
Didn't mean to cause such an uproar. The only reason I mention adfree is because you can download it straight from the market. And no you are not stealing the game is free. Period. Like someone said putting your phone into airplane mode gives you the same effect. I am not taking anything from the devs if there is no paid version alternate.

No Movies for Rooted XOOMs?? Devs unite!

Being that this dev community is the absolute best, I have to bring this to light.
Google Movie Support has just informed me that Google Movies will not work for rooted XOOMs. This just won't fly.
Is there anyone out there working on a fix or workaround for this?

I feel ya bro, and I'm pretty sure the devs are already looking into it. Since it is a DRM authorization issue, it is probably going to be a pretty good hack to get around it.
I'm confused by 2 things on this topic:
1) why does it matter if its rooted or not?
I would assume the answers is because root would allow us some magical privledge of copying a cache and possibly extracting video and then redistributing.
2) how the frig can it tell?

My guess is either one of: (1) checking for the ro.secure property being set, or (2) doing something "rootable", like being able to read a certain file/directory, etc.
If in the former case, I don't have an idea of what to do that wouldn't require the HC source, but in the case of the latter, it'd be relatively easy to ... wait- don't let me help El Goog out. It's not rocket science (think rootkit, but in reverse).
Well instead of listening I tried it as well with The Green Hornet and couldn't download it. Kept getting error but these developers will come up with the answers they have been nothing short of amazing when it comes to the Moto Xoom

This is the same with the blockbuster app on the Atrix. I can set SU to block requests from the app, but as long as I'm running rooted, it refuses to play (and tells you when you launch the app).
I don't understand the difference between this and running Itunes or Netflix on a "rooted" (admin capable) PC. Why is the phone different?

So did you still get charged for it? The wifi version won't even get the movies for awhile. I don't know why Google doesn't have it ready for both.
It isn't very surprising to hear. None of the major studios will allow media to be downloaded without some form of restrictive DRM and root access probably violates their policies.

Nice Google, what a great way to pit the development community against you, even though Android would be nothing without us. Sellout.
Strange, I have unlocked and rooted Nexus One and could play any Netflix video in official Netflix app, so DRM works on rooted system. So may be it's problem with something else?
If you order thru your web browser by going to the web based android market and play it thru your web browser it works.

Google's new movie rental service is blocked if your device is rooted

The service allows users to rent movies to their android devices straight from the Android market. As it transpires, Google specifically locks out users of rooted devices for copy protection reasons."

neowin.net said:
This is a bit of an unusual move from Google, who normally promote the open nature of Android; many rooted users are likely to feel somewhat irked by this. There's a likely possibility that the movie studios are the ones behind the decision, unwilling to let Google license anything without some form of copy protection in place. Because of this, many legitimate users will feel they're being punished for the sake of preventing something from leaking on the Internet, which in all likelihood will already be there anyway.

See.. if I were going to pirate a movie and leak it on the internet, I certainly wouldn't pay money to rent it on my android phone, then try and make it watchable on a 60" TV.. bastards... they're so ignorant (the movie companies)... people will sit in a theater w/ a small camera attached to a pocket sized DVR to make bootlegs.. there's also telesync and telecine 'copies' as well.. w/ those, the 'pirate' is attached directly to the projector to grab the video signal but uses a microphone for the audio. These telesync/telecine 'copies' are usually the most desirable in the bootleg world because of the 'improved' video quality vs the camera in a pocket bootlegs. The next best quality is an 'R5' which is DVD quality video because the movie was released overseas (russia or somewhere?) and since the audio isn't in english, someone takes the 'bootleg' audio from a theater and overlays is onto the video... Then there are 'work prints' (stuff that's still WIP ) and DVDrip (that one should be obvious).. there are also 'pirates' that will just get a netflix subscription to mail the DVD's back and forth, ripping them as they receive them, or blockbuster (you can turn those back into your local store if there are any still open)... What I'm getting at is there are MANY ways for pirates to 'steal' movies and I can assure you that making a rip from a phone would be stupid.. it wouldn't net a tolerable viewing experience. The RIAA needs to go see a doctor and have their heads removed from their collective 'puckered starfishes'
/soapbox
I could not care less about this topic.
1. I would never pay to rent a movie on my cell phone. Free? Sure. Pay ? no way.

I would certainly like to know exactly what purpose the face book app has taking up 17mb on my precious dinc fresh off the market. I've seen it swell in excess of 40 mb with heavy use. NFL Mobile + root = no go???

So as some of you may already know, the latest update for the NFL Mobile app (came out this morning I think) has officially killed its functionality with rooted (or "non stock Android") devices. A story on Android Police can be see here.
At any rate, I saw a recent post on a GSIII forum (here)where the user claimed to have a workaround which, among other things, involved renaming the superuser.apk, however if you're using CM nowadays then you'll know there really isn't a separate apk - instead it is now integrated into the rom. That being said, does anyone have any idea similar to this that might work for tricking the app into thinking it isn't running on a rooted unit? I have no clue myself, but seeing as how no one has started a dedicated thread for this in the forum of the current Google flagship phone, I thought I'd get things started.
Thanks in advance people!
Well I guess it looks like no one has any ideas...? Oh well, a rare swing-and-a-miss for solutions in the xda community
A quick fix would be to just find the apk for an older version and install that one. That's what I'm currently trying to do, there's no reason for then to block us from using it just because we're rooted.

Well yeah, I mean I already uninstalled and then restored a backed up version of the app using Titanium Backup. The problem is - and if you've been a user of the NFL apps over the last year or two then you'll know this - that the NFL app is not like most apps where each upgrade just adds some incremental upgrades or changes. With this app the upgrades are typically pushed out right before the start of the key timeframes of the NFL season: usually an update right before preseason; another before the start of the regular season; another at the start of the playoffs; another right before the Super Bowl; and once more right before the draft in April. Each update is specific to that time period of the season and usually contains the critical information/tweaks/additions/UI alterations specific for that segment of the year. Point being, after missing an update or two, the app becomes extremely outdated and eventually useless. And that's why, in the mid-to-long term, just using the older version of the apk unfortunately isn't a useful alternative. Damn you NFL! Now we just have to hope the xda community will come to the rescue as they usually are able to do

Ooooh gotcha. I didn't realize that that's how NFL ran their app. That's really annoying.
i'm not rooted, but that does seem like somebody went off the deep end with this app. rooting a device won't hurt their revenue, in fact, it will probably increase it from allowing ALL Android (and iOS) devices access the app. instead, they're cutting off access to a HUGE chunk of their fans, present and future. in essence, they're biting the hand that feeds them.
i voted the app down in the app store out of principal alone.
I am extremely displeased with this as well and am searching for a solution. Leave it to Verizon to try to control how you use YOUR phone.

Just in posting my thread I got a ton of hits of people freaking out about the new app...lol
FYI, they have fixed the app and it is now working perfectly fine on rooted devices strait from the play store
I might be the only one it's not working for. Wondering if anyone can help.
I cannot get 95% of the buttons to work in the Fantasy section of the app. Not only that, when I said 'to hell with the app' and went to their mobile site (which looks exactly like the app), I got the same thing... 95% of the buttons on the mobile site wouldn't do anything.
Now, on my N7, everything works fine.
Any ideas?
Edit: It was Ad Away. Can't use the app while it's running. Now I'll try to find the hosts file and see if I can edit the NFL entries out of it.
