[Q] TTY Mode Always ON. Help! - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have been using Nexus 4 for like 4 months now and I have stumbled across this weird problem.
The TTY Mode is always ON, no matter if I toggle it to TTY Off in Phone settings.
Removing the sim card and putting it back inside, at times, switch it back off but then after a reboot, it pops up back again.
I wonder what's wrong!
When I make calls, I can't hear anything through the earpiece and the volume buttons interchanged functions (volume up reduces volume and volume down increases volume).
I tried switching it to TTY VCO and TTY HCO, doesn't do anything.
I use the phone in India and the phone was bought from the US. Help!

XDA 2 always on handsfree (speaker on)

Quote this FAQ from myxda.com :
Q. Is it possible to activate the loudspeaker on my xda before choosing a telephone number? Is it possible to permanently turn the loudspeaker on loud, so i do not have to press the green button?
A. There is a way for doing this. The only disadvantage: after a soft-reset this setting is not activated anymore and must be readjusted. Dial any number, for example the Voicemail Box, so that nobody is disturbed by a phone call. Then disconnect and tip onto the signal symbol in the title bar. Tip onto the disconnect telephone button and then immediately press the green button (accept telephone call) keeping it pressed until the note appears: The loudspeaker is activated. The telephone then disconnects, without establishing a connection. The information that the loudspeaker is activated remains. The next step is turning on the telephone. The loudspeaker is turned on instantly with each dialled number. However, you can always turn the loudspeaker on or off by pressing the green button a little longer BEFORE dialling.
I've tried it and there is no response, even I can not get first step (Tip on the disconnect button ). May be this FAQ is only for XDA I ...
Has anybody tried it on an XDA II ?
Has anybody a way to permanently activate loudspeaker on XDA II ?
Yes, I've tried it, it works.
But sometimes could be difficult to activate due to some lag or slow response time for taps ... Once activated, the screen will look like this:
Can yo please explain it step by step ?
I've tried a lot of times, withou results. Thanks
ok, i found this easier:
- Turn on flight mode.
- Press green button for a few seconds until it says "Speakerphone is on". (Don't worry, as you're on flight mode, no call is made)
- Now, turn off flight mode to use the phone and have the speakerphone always on.
Enjoy.
No way !!
Turn On fligth mode.
--Press green Button while in TODAY opens Phone Screen
---Press green button while in PHONE screen shows Buuble "The phone is currently off. Dou you want to turn Wireless on?
I have ROM 1.60.00 WWE
-- Radio Version 1.10.00
You'll have to PRESS DOWN AND HOLD the green button for about 2 seconds. Not just one click.
Of course I did it
Have you been able to activate speakerphone during a call before?
The procedure is the same, press and hold down the Green button should activate, except that this is done when flightmode is on.
It's strange why your unit doesn't behave the same? Try hold down longer perhaps..
@chriswo
sorry for OT, but PLEEEEASSSE let me know the name of that software you're using for the today screen. i've been desperately looking for something like this for ages now.
thanks

if you mean
chriswo's screenshot
then do you mean the signal strength
or ?
if you're talking about the launcher, it's called cLaunch, it's free.
Yes I can activate it during a call, and as I like it (it works 'sufficient' for me as a hands free for the car) is because I wanted to have it always activated.
May be there is some installed software. Will try to uninstall what is not essential. Can you post your rom & radio versions ?
boyz boyz you're fast as lightning
i just updated the screenshot. pls reload this page.
and YES it's cLaunch i just googled and it seems to be what i need (BIG buttons on the today screen)
thanks a lot
regards ize|man
Alrught, if you find it difficult to activate Speakerphone while on flight mode. try this:
On PHONE display, turn on flight mode and immediately PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the green button. Don't let it go completely on flight mode, so you got to do it while the radio was shutting down.
try that and let us know.
OK, this one WORKED without problem.
Now I have a 'perfect' and 'cheap' handsfree for my car.
THANK YOU very much !!!
Chriswo?
Where did you get that signalstrenght today plug in from ? looks really good
That's HudsonMobile PhoneDashboard.
Anyone notice if you cancel the speakerphone, then enable your bluetooth headset and make a call, the headset stays connected even after you end the call?
I don't know if this really is an advantage or not, I'll see how much more the battery drains if any.
Also, I notice that after activating the speakerphone "always-on", my ringetone gets almost silent. :?

[Q] Not working vibration on incoming call

A few days ago I bought a Omnia 2. I put some useful programs and everything was OK.
Today I noticed, that when someone calls me, it doesn't work vibration. Generally vibration works, ex. when I touch the screen. It works even as I get a text message. SR does't help. Uninstalled all installed programs - doesn't work. After the HR, it works. I threw a backup - doesn't work. I found a program VAlert, but on the Omnia's probably not working. What could it be and how to fix it?
I use phonealarm pro and enable call vibrate. Vibrates once when the call is connected and twice when the call ends. no need to hold call up to ear while dailing.
No Viberation Soultion
i beleive i have a soluton for ur vibration prblm
all u need to do is
>first put ur phone in silent mode by presssing and holding '#' button or by clicking the volume buttn and selecting silent mode.
>once in silent mode press the volume button and then increase thevolume from 0 to 5 without switching to normal mode.
> ur problem is fixed...

[Q] Where are the Speaker Phone Settings in LG G2 Verizon

I have just bought the LG G2 from Verizon and cannot find anything about the Speaker Phone. Can't find it in the settings and don't see kind of button on the phone to turn on the speaker. How do I do this ?
Also on the camera , I don't see anything to "Press" to take the picture.
Thanks so much .
Speakerphone can only be turned on when making a new call or during an existing call. Once speakerphone is on, you can adjust the volume for it using the volume keys or thru the settings menu. Also you can enable speaker phone just by placing your phone face (screen) down during a call. I thought this worked on the G2 also, but turns out the flip feature is specific to devices that have the speaker on the back of the phone. Since our speaker is next to the charging port, this is an unnecessary feature.
Taking a picture is via the blue camera button (either bottom center or right center depending if phone is landscape or portrait) or using either volume key for the shutter button.

[Q] Can my N7 completely turn off when power is disconnected?

hi all
like many others iv put my nexus 7 into the dash of my car. i was wondering if there is an app or way for my nexus to turn itself off when i turn the car off. iv figured out how to make the device turn on when power is restored to the device but still not sure how to turn the device off.
also would anyone know why when the nexus turns on, it immediately mutes itself? it is connected via 3.5mm jack 100% of the time and tasker opens up power amp but other then that i don't know what might be causing it. any help is appreciated on both issues
cheers

If you have tasker installed, create a state which is dependant on battery power - as an exit task tell the tablet to wait for 10 seconds, then call the misc->reboot action with type shutdown to turn the tablet off. The wait 10 seconds it to prevent it powering off when you are cranking the car...
If you just want to turn the screen off, not power the whole tablet down, there's a tasker action Display->System Lock which will turn the screen off..
You could also use tasker to change the system volume for you if you needed as a workaround...
*edit* - BTW - the tasker reboot options don't gracefully reboot / shutdown, so if you have apps running, there's a chance that you may lose data. To do a 'graceful' reboot / shutdown, you are better off using the secure setting plugin...

Note 4 no power-on after opening

My Note 4 (N910F) wasn't recording media-audio, none of the voice-call apps worked, recording video or audio didn't record anything. Regular calls on the cell network worked flawless though!
So i decided to open it up and see if maybe anything got wet. I cleaned some dust carefully with pressured air and some soft cotton buds for the contact points and put it back together again.
Now the device won't start at all anymore.
I can connect the charger on USB and it does show that it's charging and almost full and i can push the menu button to get that screen again after it turns black.
I can connect it to a PC, it detects the device as well.
What i can not do however is turn it on with the power button. Nor does it show the charging screen when i press it shortly.
I suspected there's something off with the switch so i measured it.
Pin 3 and 4 are shorted by default (vibrator motor i assume). Pin 1 and 2 short when i push the button. So that seems to be as it is supposed to be as well.
I have no idea why it doesn't start or get the power-on signal.
Is there anything else i can measure or somehow i can force the device to start by connecting points on the back of the mainboard?
Any help would be appreciated.
