I can't tell you how many times I have thought to myself "I wish I had thought/heard of that!" when hearing what someone has conspired to make their smart device do. For example the guy who discovered you could use a PS3 controller, or the fact that Splashtop even existed in the first place. Or THIS GUY. Post the awesome things you have figured out how to do with this or any other Nexus! It can be simply through Apps you have found, or all out customized craziness! I'll start, though it's hardly amazing, I installed Splashtop on my mums PC, I have saved SO MANY TRIPS to her house this way. She is one of those who calls at midnight to say that while she was using Internet Explorer she discovered that her PC is infested with a virus and needs to be repaired, and asks if should she click the box that tells her so?

I bought it for the idea of showing off, editing my pictures from my camera, I could see them, but I can't view them and zoom in out. The only thing that could be done is import them. I have it connected with a regular use cable from my camera to the usb dongle to nexus.

Retro console emulation on the go...
Flash-o-aholic treatment device.
Need to leave my phone alone as a daily driver, but I plan to experiment with this device like no other.
So far? Watching low quality streaming video. Really loving that 1200p screen. /s
Also its great for textbooks. 2 full pages in landscape mode and it still looks great.
I bought the 2012 N7 when it was released and used it probably 3 times. One day it died and I couldn't turn it back on so I threw it in my night stand and forgot about it for over 9 months. When this new one was announced I told myself I would get it and force myself to utilize it for reading books and tech blogs on the train to/from work. I also started traveling more for work so I imagine it will come in handy on the plane as apposed to staring at the small N4 screen or dealing with my laptop.
Last week I pulled the old one out of the night stand, ADB'd it back to life with stock 4.3 and sold it for $130 on craigslist. Then I ordered the new one and since receiving it I've stuck to my plan and now use it to read books and tech blogs every morning on the way into work and every evening on the way home.
When the Chromecast arrives I'll use the tablet to stream netflix and other stuff as well.
Kind of ordered by most used.

eBook reading (Kindle App)
Lot of reddit in the crapper
Netflix / Dish (sling) / Local streaming on occasion
Casatunes (whole house audio control)
Monitor house cameras to see if my latest Amazon purchase arrived

Work:
OneNote (syncs my work/home notes) Allows me to call up crap I did in meetings since its always synced
Jump Desktop (RDP into my desktop from meetings) and/or Logmein from remote locations if required.
Juice SSH to connect to Servers.
Web browsing around the house or in bed

Ok. So the media hub is out. Looks like you can rent and/or own movies depending on title. The renting is 2.99. I've found own for 9.99 and 12.99. I'm a little worried about paying DVD prices (or somewhat less for some titles) and not getting the DVD, or getting the ability to transfer to another viewing device, ie. dvd, computer. Anyone know what the lowdown is on transfers, etc? I know I've had a hard time trying to find a movie that I can actually put on this phone via dvd ripping from my own dvd library (if that's even legal) or for download from any legal source online. At least the media hub has that going for it.
Anyone know if there are other avenues to actually use the awesome power of this device to watch movies in my palm? Is Media Hub better than?
Ps. I think it is funny that Forrest Gump is listed as comedy. Nice job classifying that one guys.

Nope, just Vibrant as far as I can tell.
Does it bill to your Sprint bill or is there separate payment information?
probably have to stop by the store so they can take a melon baller to your seat cushion.
I'm not really sure how the payment works. I exchanged my phone today due to the back button issue. Now I haven't received the new update yet.
Media hub payments
Ok. So I broke down and bought the latest star trek. Basically, you enter your credit card information into Media Hub the app stores it there (actually, I think it stores it on Samsung's server). I don't think there are any alternatives. Now, based on the current download rate and percentage, I should be able to watch it sometime next week.

3G? 4G? Wifi? On 4G, the previews always played for me instantly. Even the 2 and a half minute trailers.
I watched a few previews over 4g. I have to admit the video quality was excellent and playback smooth. This might be good for an occasional rental, but once netflix comes out for Android they can kiss this goodbye.

download speed and AllShare
Well it looks like there is no AllShare support. Can't push this thing to my TV (actually PS3) for viewing. The movie doesn't show up in the AllShare list. I'm not surprised I guess, just disappointed. My guess is that the movie is not being stored in any meaningful format so AllShare couldn't read it if it wanted to. Of course, there could be a way around or some setting I'm missing. I don't think it's a setting at this point though. Media Hub has no settings anywhere that I can find.
The video quality is pretty awesome, no skips, studders, sloops, woops, or whillips. The sounds wasn't *bad*. It's a decent movie viewing experience - even for a big screen action blockbuster. Would be awesome during a long flight, or similar, without having to drag along extra electronics.
However, combined with there currently being no mini-usb to hdmi cable means no support to watch Media Hub movies on a bigger screen. Looks like I'm back to looking for another solution to watching movies on my phone. 12 bucks isn't really a good investment vs. the actual DVD/Blueray (3 dollars more on Amazon). If I was wealthier, maybe. I think this means I won't be using Media Hub, except for the one movie I already paid for.
About the download speed:
I didn't bother trying to watch it before the download was finished so I don't know if that is possible. I think it was a 1-2 hour download but I didn't keep track, maybe I could have started it sooner. Not to bad I guess (over wifi). I couldn't imagine doing this over 3g...definitely an overnight thing.
Adobe announced today the death of Adobe Flash Player. They have decided that it isn't the "best" way to go in terms of Mobile technology.... So what are we just left hung out to dry now???

Did you only read half the news? Adobe is going to be focusing on Air for mobile devices.
I love it, Steve Jobs is laughing in his grave. He told Adobe straight up they would have to switch to hdml 5 like his iphone.
It's not that they "had to;" it was more that it's a better business decision, plus they can still use Air along with HTML5, which isn't that bad.

Its really not, owning both I would say most websites use html5 due too most users at one time on mobile websites where iOS users. So you really dont ever notice flash not working except on the dumb ads where you dont want videos running anyways. Ohh and for porn. If your a porn junky then yes your android phone will plya a lot more than iOS since crappy porn sites still use crappy flash.

Hi there, Speaking of death prediction, I find it really odd that one of the on-line death prediction services showed me the same death date that I was foretold in my dream about a year ago. http ://yourdeathdate. info/1/index. html - I can’t explain this coincidence in any other way except that there must be some kind of magic involved here.

As someone who uses both iOS and Android every day of my life I have to completely disagree with you. I love both for different reasons but the biggest downfall of the iPad is that it doesn't play flash. I spend allot of time looking through different news sites for tech & gaming and whenever there is a video I most likely will not be able to play it, only like 30% of the time will the video be playable. The biggest contribution to the problem is NO YouTube, yes there is a dedicated app, but when you try to play an embedded YouTube video it does NOT open the app and play it, it instead says "Please install flash".. Anybody that has spent any amount of time with an iOS device knows what I'm saying is true and the lack of Flash is a pain in the ass! Either your kidding yourself or you dont spend much time browsing the internets. True story.

I see it as a bad move from Adobe. Almost as if they where waiting for Steve Jobs to pass out to call it off!
I know Html5 is cool and all, but not quite as robust as Flash.
It still can't do as much as Fash does natively and by itself.
Html5 has to rely on yet another layer of code called Javascript to do even pretty basic stuff.
In the end consumers will pay the price at least until developers decide to redo all their stuff on Html5. I know that Adobe is working on a conversion platform but results are yet sketchy.
Cheers!

Howdy,
So alas I have moved past my good ole flashin' days of the G1 and got the new blackberry 9900 about 2 months ago (loooove it).
But I found my awesome G1 in my closet and have a mission in mind. To transform it into a rockin GPS Navigator. Alas Blackberry (nor iPhone for that matter) do not have an amazing GPS Navigator like google's navigator (they pale in comparison). So I am thinking itd be swell to use my g1 solely for that purpose.
I am going to worry about the specifics of tethering it later, or possibly just load up the maps via wifi before I leave my home..
I am also going to buy a dashboard holder thing (any suggestions) and a car charger. However right now I am focused on getting the actual software on the beast.
I flashed it to SuperD (a 1.6 rom) which is super stable and fast and not flashy. Which is exactly what I need.
Basically I am asking for suggestions or any hints you androiders can think of to help me in my quest to made the g1 into a solid GPS. I will keep this updated on it, hopefully with photos down the road in case any one else would like to follow suit. Do you have any tips for using the navigation app, or ideas for the best settings or rom/which version of android to use?
Thanks!
And stay strong G1-ers
Let me know how it turns out.
I might I do the same.
Thanks in advance.

Can anyone think of any serious uses for our G1s? On the net there are tons of pages with funny stuff like using old phone as a doorstop (the G1 would be too fat ), but who would use a G1 as a media player? We have new phones or dedicated mp3 players, and it's not good enough to use as a retro emulating games device. Any ideas?
I replaced my G1 with my LG G2X.
My G1 would not even play angry birds, It would show the loading screen and never load or goto a black screen, Crash and end the APP.
You can get a cheap prepaid ANDROID phone for under $50 on sale that will walk all over the G1. Also check Craigslist for some good deals.
I have a CRICKET ZTE 500 SCORE.
It has a lot of uses and including a media player. VOIP and GPS.
I use it with a Bluetooth speaker to play MP3'S at work.

Capabilities of this type of device
Got mine its decent. Does anyone know if there will be very much development for this device.
I know they said they would put out some OTA updates and root was a possibility in the future.
This is my first device of this nature and I am clueless to any possibilities it may have. I know I like
to root any device I can and I'm hoping to do the same with this.
I'm just hoping their OTA updates fix the crashing, hell when some apps crash and it asks if you want to report it, the report crashes as well!
I ordered two of these. It is junk. Move along. Laggy and one of my units is broken. Company doesnt care. It is just a rebranded CX-01...

It looks to me like they do care quite a bit. They are answering all kinds of questions on the Kickstarter backer's page and on Facebook. I believe that they are working hard on an OTA update to be released very soon....At least I hope it's soon.

I bought mine for plex as well and no luck so far. It won't connect to my server despite every other android device I have being able to. Commenters on Kickstarter are reporting problems with it as well.
Got Root
I got this device rooted awhile back and downloaded some apps to help with
performance. It runs alot better now. I can't beleive they couldn't fix some of these
issues before it came out. I installed the beta updates they put out and it helped.
It seems like they don't want to give out the info needed for people to do developement
because they are afraid someone will get it up and running better then they can.
I'm just looking forward to running custom roms on this thing.
I've owned one of these, and also a bunch of the dual core sticks.
The Equiso is not worth the price. It is pretty much a cx-01 or c-77.
I found the video performance to be substandard.
I sold it for a loss after a week.
You can get a dual core for cheaper.
Even the original MK802(single core allwinner a10) is better.
If I had to buy a stick right now it would be the dual core MX1.
If I wanted to wait I would pick up the GK802 quad core stick(freescale soc!) or the uHost2 dual core stick.(more usb)
Let the buyer beware though! Check out everything you can before you buy!
Wow, that uhost2 looks really good. Would you happen to know of any good reliable retailers that have the Bluetooth capable one???

Tried on another TV. Works but hängs and bootloops every time I connect to wifi or change video settings

I have purchased this TV stick at Walmart the stock Rom is buggy until you root it and change the CPU governor. I have rooted it and removed the equiso update file from system/app now it doesn't pop up all the time which was kind of annoying. Hi guys,
This isn't necessarily a Nexus 5 app per se, but I do own the device and I love it.
I envision people using this app on their tablets to download sheet music and be able to play it right away.
If you don't own an android tablet, you can use it on your phone and I've added share functionality so that the PDFs can be sent right away from within the app, to say DropBox or other cloud file services so that they can be viewed on other devices or even printed.
If you guys play piano, let me know what you think, or maybe just spread the words to your friends that do.
