[Q] Get Rid of the eye - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

i like the features of the GS4 but that eye in my notification drives me crazy. Is there a way to get rid of it while it still being on?

DL Xposed.
DL Nottach Xposed Module.
Enable Nottach Module in Xposed, then reboot.
Go into Nottach settings and disable the eye always showing (it will still be on though), then reboot.
BYE BYE EYE!

When you say '..that eye..' do you mean the icon at the top that looks like an eyeball with 3 eyelashes above it? If so that is indicating that you have the Smart Screen enabled. You can turn off the Smart Screen (and thus removing the eye icon) in Settings > My Device > Smart Screen. Hope this helps.

[Q] Can I do these things?

Granted, I've only had the phone for 4 days, and I'm still learning, but here are some things I'd like to do that I'm guessing are probably not default settings. Are there any tweaks/mods to help me?
1) Remove "Sprint" from my lock screen.
2) Prevent the screen from turning on once fully charged. I have it set to never turn the screen off when charging, so this makes the screen stay on forever.
3) Keep the screen from dimming quite so much when staying awake while charging. I plug the phone in while in the car to keep the screen awake, but then it dims down to where I can't see a darn thing.

What state is your device in now? Are you rooted? What rom are you running?
Yeah, I guess that would have been useful information. Sorry.
Rooted with ForceRom 2.1.

Np...not sure about the last 2 on your list. However, it looks like ForceRom does not have Xposed Framework integrated so might try installing it and Nottach Xposed Mod and this will not only allow you to change the carrier message on the lockscreen but do all sorts of other cool stuff.
As always make sure you do a nandroid before flashing Xposed just in case. I don't see you having a problem but never know.

Yupz, what he said. The Xposed framework + the Nottach module can fulfill your #1 and #2 wishes.
As for wish #3, you can probably override that "feature" using an app like E-Robot. It's like Tasker but free and easier to use.
Edit: I just checked my E Robot options and you can create a rule so that when you connect an external power supply like your charger, you can set the screen brightness level whatever percentage you want.
Thanks to both of you. Xposed and Nottach were next on my list of things to do, anyway.
Hmmm....
I've installed the Xposed framework and the Nottach module, and nothing seems to have any effect. I keep getting that warning that it's not made for my phone and then nothing happens. I've tried changing my status bar color, clock color, carrier label, and others. Regular reboot and hot reboot.
What's up with that?
FYI, I'm running ForceRom. Could that be interfering?

Did you got into the X posed Framework app and enable the Nottach module, you have to like check it to enable it in the modules section.
And also when you open up the various options and that little Window pops up with the color wheel and etc, there is a little on/off switch to enable that mod individually as well - you could be setting the color and rebooting but if you don't enable that specific mod nothing will happen.

Ha! That was it. Thank you!
ETA: Should the preview button actually do anything? All it does is seems to nudge my color value slightly.

No problem, and I actually think the preview button is for if you were typing out the color like, ffffff0, it'll show you that color you typed out, that's why when you click preview it always goes back to the original color you started with before you used the wheel to change it.

[Q] How to REMOVE STOCK NOTIFICATION PANEL?

The samsung stock notification panel is huge, ugly, obtuse, and doesn't even have many of the toggle options I prefer. For instance flashlight isn't even an option. There are better 3rd party notificaction panels.
Can someone please advise me on how to remove this thing (without rooting)?
Is there an app that can do it?
This is my first post. Looking forward to positive interaction. Hopefully a successful solution too! Lol
Not possible.

Any good news? I'm also interested in removing the notification panel.
No way to remove or change it without root, however, I believe you can add a second one using one of these apps.
Settings Extended, Power Toggles, and Notification Toggle from the play store. Worth a try if it floats your boat.

I've installed "notification toggle" a few days ago and it pleases me a lot. That's the reason I want to dump the stock notification feature.

You know, I think I misunderstood and thought you just wanted to remove some of the toggles or change / add some. I've never seen it completely removed. Doesn't mean it's not possible, but I've never seen it.
You should be able to request a mod and ask somebody to add in whatever toggles it is you want (flashlight, etc.) that aren't normally there. I'm sure one of the modders around would be happy to help you out and do a flashable zip to alter it to your liking. You could also just use an Xposed module to do it.
Check out this page: http://www.xda-developers.com/touchwizs-current-and-upcoming-theming-settings/ Maybe that will lead you in the right direction.
Heh-heh, big thanks @bbeelzebub! I've installed Xposed Framework v2.6.1 (it's working flawlessly) and now I'm looking for the right module. I've tried GravityBox (v3.5.9) but unfortunately it doesn't have the option to customize the notification panel. I'll keep searchin'...
Without rooting, it's not possible. With root, it would be (relatively) simple.

Possibly. What exactly is it you're wanting to do? Remove the quicksettings panel?
I want to remove the stock notification panel (android v4.1.2) or, if it's possible, to customize it (add/remove toggles).

Notification light

Hey guys and gals. So I have been missing my notification light allot. I just rooted and unlocked because I figured there is no way I am going to turn this in. Anyway I was playing around on gravity box and there is a setting to have the navigation buttons blink when you get a notification. Yes! It works too. I didnt find anything about this when I was looking so I thought I would post it.

it says nothing bout notifications.. talking bout battery notifcations
http://imgur.com/7PXohys
It is for notifications, it is in gravity box under display.

Since Xposed / GB is not yet available....

Without Gravity Box how to get a Battery Bar (I know there are battery bar apps, but none I've found yet gets rid of the stock battery status bar icon and that's just redundant) ,
left handed Navbar when in landscape
and expanded power menu?
The rest of the tweaks I can probably live without, but those I use every day.
Battery bar: I don't know about the apps you speak of. You can get rid of the stock icon though. Enable system UI tuner on the phone, then use that to remove the stock icon.
Left side landscape navigation bar: just rotate the phone the other direction.
advanced power menu: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.noxx.apm&hl=en&rdid=com.noxx.apm

I tested this battery bar app and it works nicely: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.etechtour.batterybar&hl=en
Also this is a good app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.paphonb.systemuituner&hl=en
I've been using the power bar ever since I looked it up. I am really enjoying it.
Wahoo! Official Xposed is available for Nougat!

Android 10 black bar issue

I updated to the new Android 10 and it's really good so far with the new animations and quirks here and there . But for some annoying reason Samsung decided to add this white/black bar underneath the keyboard and it's really uncomfortable and takes so much screen estate . Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gboard but it's still there and there's no option to disable it . Any ideas on how to get rid of it ?
I think you can find it somewhere inside the Display > Navigation Bar > and the one that has something to do with they keyboard option (I'm sorry I don't have my phone with me right now)
Thats strange. I dont have that black bar under keyboard

Do you have the option for having hide button on keyboard or something like that? It's a toggle under the options for gestures.
