[Q] Can I do these things? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Granted, I've only had the phone for 4 days, and I'm still learning, but here are some things I'd like to do that I'm guessing are probably not default settings. Are there any tweaks/mods to help me?
1) Remove "Sprint" from my lock screen.
2) Prevent the screen from turning on once fully charged. I have it set to never turn the screen off when charging, so this makes the screen stay on forever.
3) Keep the screen from dimming quite so much when staying awake while charging. I plug the phone in while in the car to keep the screen awake, but then it dims down to where I can't see a darn thing.

What state is your device in now? Are you rooted? What rom are you running?

Yeah, I guess that would have been useful information. Sorry.
Rooted with ForceRom 2.1.

Np...not sure about the last 2 on your list. However, it looks like ForceRom does not have Xposed Framework integrated so might try installing it and Nottach Xposed Mod and this will not only allow you to change the carrier message on the lockscreen but do all sorts of other cool stuff.
As always make sure you do a nandroid before flashing Xposed just in case. I don't see you having a problem but never know.

Yupz, what he said. The Xposed framework + the Nottach module can fulfill your #1 and #2 wishes.
As for wish #3, you can probably override that "feature" using an app like E-Robot. It's like Tasker but free and easier to use.
Edit: I just checked my E Robot options and you can create a rule so that when you connect an external power supply like your charger, you can set the screen brightness level whatever percentage you want.

Thanks to both of you. Xposed and Nottach were next on my list of things to do, anyway.

Hmmm....
I've installed the Xposed framework and the Nottach module, and nothing seems to have any effect. I keep getting that warning that it's not made for my phone and then nothing happens. I've tried changing my status bar color, clock color, carrier label, and others. Regular reboot and hot reboot.
What's up with that?
FYI, I'm running ForceRom. Could that be interfering?

Did you got into the X posed Framework app and enable the Nottach module, you have to like check it to enable it in the modules section.
And also when you open up the various options and that little Window pops up with the color wheel and etc, there is a little on/off switch to enable that mod individually as well - you could be setting the color and rebooting but if you don't enable that specific mod nothing will happen.

Ha! That was it. Thank you!
ETA: Should the preview button actually do anything? All it does is seems to nudge my color value slightly.

No problem, and I actually think the preview button is for if you were typing out the color like, ffffff0, it'll show you that color you typed out, that's why when you click preview it always goes back to the original color you started with before you used the wheel to change it.

[Android][CM7.1][Mod]CustomLabel

NOTE: Do Not Apply this mod for Alpha 3, it screws up the status bar. You have been warned. I will see if i can recompile it for Alpha 3, makes it tougher without sources.
Initially i did this mod for my I9000 which was running CM7.1 and i was only seeing carrier numbers instead of names. I have ported this to CM7.1 for HP touchpad. Flash this file in cwm recovery.
When booted up you should see an additional setting in cyanogenmod settings called CustomSettings, tap that to open custom carrier text, tap that and enter whatever you want to show on the lockscreen and notification bar. Press done.
Install the attached notificationrestart.apk and open it, give it root access, press restart and wait for the notification bar to restart. This is to avoid restart of the tablet before you see the new settings apply. Voila, you should see what you put in the custom name. Have fun and hit the thanks button if you like it. Cheers.
If for some reason your status bar looks wonky after a while use this to get back to original stuff. I changed the dpi to 182 using nitrality app and the wonkiness seems to be gone. I am using iKandee theme from market.
Original Mod for I9000 credits
doixanh ( for his ginger DX settings)
ngiordano ( for his helping hand with androiding)

I'll give this a shot. Is there an option (perhaps in the future) to place a .png file where the carrier text is? Similar to MIUI? Just curious.
Ok. dl'ing now. I'll report back.
EDIT: It works! My only issues
A) The notificationrestart.apk installed, but didn't seem to do anything. I didn't notice the change until after I rebooted the device.
B) I'm now seeing the 3G bar in the corner (see the image). Is there a way to keep the custom text, but not show the signal bars?

May be. I will look into it at a later time, no promises. If the status bar gets wonky, set dpi to 182 and see if it happens. For me its perfect at 182 (which is what my phone is it)

For now no. once cm team publishes source I will recompile with that.that well solve these issues. Did you run the notification restart app? I had to wipe data of that apk using titanium backup and it worked fine after that. 182 dpi works fine. Anything less than that status bar gets wonky.

I attempted, but it did not run. Did not ask for root privileges either. I simply rebooted and it showed the text change.

Ya, once you wipe data using titanium back up it will ask for root privileges. Not sure why. 182 and higher dpi works fine.

The screenshot that I posted is in fact my TP. I'm using the Transformer theme from HERE. It ties in with CM's ThemeChanger. It'll notify you that it's not meant for your device, just do it. As you can see it works fine.

thank u sir!
@krarvind
thanks for this! no issues on my TP so far.
as a little test i flashed this to my T-MoUS HD2 Leo since i could never find a way to set a custom carrier label.
it works great on there as well - with one side effect on the lockscreen. any chance this can be fixed? i just did it on a whim since it's cm7 i figured it couldn't do to much damage. no problems on the status bar, just the lock screen.
i know it wasn't built for this device so don't answer if you don't want to
the top near my label shows a graphic from i don't know where.

I have no idea where that comes from and i don't have your device, so i can't really fix it i think. if you want to roll back, all you need to do is open up my zip files and replace the app and framework files with the ones from the rom for your phone ( not from your phone as it has mine now).
Cheers
For some reason whenever i try to boot a custom carrier label my Touchpad never boots up... it just hangs on the cyanogen mod boot animation and requires a hard reset... followed the instructions perfectly. anyone have the same issue?
after some messing around i got it to boot up for me. then the notification bar went "wonky" used the nitrality app to adjust the dpi. works fine. what is the default dpi again?....

Screwed up my notification bar, the resolution is way off and battery percentage is gone. Cyanogenmod won't let me add it either?? The OriginalLabel.zip doesn't have battery percentage either for some reason. Guess I'll do a restore in Recovery. Thanks for trying though.

Custom ROM's have CRT off option
Thanks guys, but is there a way to disable this without installing a custom ROM?
I have root access
Also, if I have the stock ROM, but rooted, can I still just install OS updates like normal?
Not sure about JB, but in GB it was a framework mod. Decompile it and it's in one of the strings.xml
All you have to do is turn off the animations in developer options. I dont know which of the three changes the crt animation but one of them does. Youll need to reboot the phone for the changes to take place. No custom rom needed

[Q] Nottach Xposed

Loving the rom and the themeing i can create with it, here comes the question, under the brightness bar on the notification panel, the checkmark for the auto brightness does not seem themeable, i have everything else blue, while it stays green. Am i missing something completely obvious or has the author just not gotten to that part yet?
once again, amazing rom!

I don't think it is currently. You can request Nottach to add it if it's possible to his module/ROM.

When you say '..that eye..' do you mean the icon at the top that looks like an eyeball with 3 eyelashes above it? If so that is indicating that you have the Smart Screen enabled. You can turn off the Smart Screen (and thus removing the eye icon) in Settings > My Device > Smart Screen. Hope this helps.

I can't seem to get any battery icon mods to work through Xposed. The color changer in Wanam doesn't work, and neither does the module here:

I ended up using Wanam to disable the battery icon and just themed the numerical percentage instead.
If you change the battery to "enable circle battery" under the notifications panel settings, you can change the color to whatever you like. I like it better than the other battery anyways because it takes up less space and has the percentage inside of it. That's the only one I know of that works though

I'm also looking for something else that works. The xbattery themer does nothing. I'm currently using Wanam circle battery, but I want a non-colored theme (colors change from yellow to red as the battery depletes). I changed the circle battery color to green, and I can live that for now since this thing is a beast and is rarely in the red anyway...BUT, I'm trying to change the percentage text color and it isn't working. There's an option for that but it doesn't do anything, so the circle battery is green and so is the percentage inside it, and that looks like crap IMO. If I could just get the percentage to turn white I'd be somewhat satisfied for now.
Xbattery themer now works!

This is probably a dumb question but is there a round battery % in the stock rom? I'm just looking for the same round icon that changed color with battery percentage as my note 2 had. Thanks for the dumb questions but I cannot seem to find it in the notification area where some say it should be.
Dave
@op you ever found a way to have the stock battery but with diff colors?
