[Q] AT&T Galaxy S4 AMF3 build root question - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hey guys, I purchased a Galaxy S4 16GB and rooted it almost immediately last week (I also took a nand backup as it is a must I've been told before installing any custom ROMS). A few days later the OTA update from AT&T seemingly forced itself onto my phone (AMF3 build) and I lost root privledges. Any way to get them back on the AMF3 build?
Also, if not, is there a way to block these updates from installing themselves without me giving my explicit consent?
Thanks guys!

there's information pertaining to these questions in the Q&A section, where this should have been posted.

[Q] Just got my new s4 - OTA & Rooting

Hi there, I just got my new I9505. If I plan on rooting it over the next few days, should I install/not install the OTA update that was downloaded when I first switched my phone on.
I'm wondering if the new OTA will make gaining root access more complicated. I'd like to stay using TouchWiz for a few more weeks before I get CM or other ROMs, so is the update worth it?
Currently on XXUAMDF
Thanks

[Q] HALP! i337 neither 4g nor OTA update not working after unroot

Hey guys! I really hope someone out there could help me.
Soooo, I rooted my phone a while ago (galaxy s4 i337 build mk2 4.3) to erase all the bloatware and stuff.
I decided to unroot it using titanium backup because my phone was starting to slow down, even after moving off all pictures/music (what was taking up the most storage).
When i unrooted it, it was still slow and the update wouldn't go past 27%, so i was stuck on 4.3.
A few days ago I tried to flash the stock firmware using Odin and lost 4g data/any type of network data but still can connect to wifi and call/text.
ps I used a post from androidrootz, and since I am a new member, I am unable to post that link in this post.
Does anyone have any idea what could have caused that/what i could do to fix it?
HALP!

[Q] i9505 Rom Flashing with i9500

Hi Everyone,
I have an international i9505 that I purchased online 18 months ago, and it is yet to receive an OTA update. The phone hasnt been factory reset since I started using it and it is really starting to struggle.
I am looking to root it and put the most up-to-date Samsung rom on it. I do not require the use of 4G
My question is regarding the 5.0.1 rom for the i9500.
Am I able to flash my i9505 with the 5.0.1 i9500 rom?
Thanks for any help.

[Q] Dumb question: Will OTA update break my phone?

Hi all,
I did search before posting this, but couldn't find quite the question/answer I was looking for. I've got a rooted S4 SPH-L720.
I've got a custom ROM installed, Sacs 4.3, and the phone has been fine. I just got the system update downloaded and the button to install it. I've got TWRP as my recovery right now.
Last time I had one of these I just turned off notifications, but wasn't sure if this is an important update, or what it even updates? Is it only for phones running Stock?
Thanks,
-Jeff

Update Rooted Kit Kat ANI2

Ok, I bought a new Verizon S5 in July of 2015. I rooted it a couple days later using Towelroot. The CID is 11, so it has a locked bootloader. I never had a single issue with the phone, and honestly, never thought about doing any updates, as it just kept chugging along dependable every day. I recently retired the S5, as I bought a mint, used Note 4 and fell in love with it. I am getting ready to sell the S5, but want to fully update it to 6.0.1 Marshmallow DQH2. I am not worried about losing root, as I am selling the phone, and will probably remove root anyway. I have a few questions though:
1) Can I update from Kit Kat all the way to Marshmallow and the latest update, or do I have to do it in increments?
2) Is it easier to update, then remove root?
3) What would be the easiest way to update to DQH2?
4) Since its rooted, can I just download the stock DQH2 firmware and flash it in Odin and go from KK to MM?
4A) If it can be flashed as stated above, will I lose root?
4A-1) Is there a rooted DQH2 firmware that can be flashed?
Thanks in Advance!!!
0) Check if Reactivation Lock is turned OFF.
...
4) Flash this DQH2 and it will erase everything, including root.
4A) Yes.
4A-1) No.
Forget the rest of the questions.
P.S. The first boot after flashing will take 10-15 min. so be patient.

Thanks. Whats the highest I can update, and retain root? I am re-thinking things now, as the package disabler app I was using and very fond of.... has been updated, and evidently does not work like it used to. I used this app on my Note 4, and was so happy with being able to disable all the bloatware and OTA etc... that I didnt bother to root the Note 4. I thought that if I lost root upgrading the S5, I would just install the same package disabler app, so it wouldnt be a problem, as thats really the only reason I root.... to get rid of bloatware. I may want to keep root now though

BPB1, Android 5.0.
You may also like the idea to install a custom debloated 6.0.1 ROM without root. If you've decided not to sell the S5.
Just another viewpoint if you haven't updated the phone yet: there are buyers who look primarily for phones with earlier versions of android, and it could actually increase the value/selling chance of your phone if you keep it on an earlier version and advertise it as such.
This gives the purchaser the opportunity to install the version they might want, especially since it's relatively difficult to find a Verizon S5 (or any Verizon Samsung phone) with 1. an unlocked bootloader and 2. an earlier version of Android such as KitKat installed.
I know this doesn't necessarily answer your questions, but it might be of benefit.
