Android 4.3 brings trim, I hope we also get the update - RAZR i General

Check this out!
http://www.anandtech.com/show/7185/android-43-update-brings-trim-to-all-nexus-devices
It seems that Android 4.3 finally brings TRIM to the game. Now I also want 4.3
Let's hope Motorola brings an update.

I hope for Android 5.0 - this is the **** that will bring the future, serious performance improvements , and MUST HAVE on my phone. Android 4.3 and 4.2 are small updates for me.

From where do you get the information that 5.0 should bring more performance?

5.0 is nothing but rumors, you'll wait a ton of time before getting it, even on a nexus. 4.3 or even 4.2.2 is the best we can do now.

I'm more worried about the Maps version that will come with 4.3, because Maps 7.x kills the Navigator app. And i give up on trim if it kills the navigator.
Anyway, just today i received an OTA and could not identify what update this one is. Can anyone confirm if it is 4.3 by any chance of the destiny?
This OTA is named 982.50.29.en.BR (49,6MB). It's a carrier-less phone, xt890 bought in Brazil.
Edit: I'm currently on 982.50.20.XT890.Brasil.en.BR , it reports as Android 4.1.2 jelly bean.
Edit 2: no, this update is not 4.2 neither 4.3, it's just a security fix for master-key bug. I confirmed this on other topics.
Back to topic: can anyone confirm if 4.3 brings Maps 7.x with it?

If you want TRIM, you can use Lagfix Free on a rooted RAZR i:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grilledmonkey.lagfix
It seems to work on the XT890, at least it says it is successful (it fails on my Xperias).

I still have maps 7.x. it came as a normal update from Playstore.
I am from germany.
But it force closed 6 or 7 times in 6h of navigation. Not so good, when you drive with 180kph and you get a fc of this app.
via RazR I & Tapatalk 4

Navigation on maps 7.x never gave me FC even when used for hours ...

It seems to get better...
Yesterday with 5 hours of navigation only one fc of maps
I enabled Google play services before (which is normaly frozen by TB because of many wakelocks) and made a reboot. Perhaps this is the reason.

[Q] Problem with my Nexus 7

Hi
I recently bought a Nexus 7 that came with 4.1.1. I updated ota to 4.1.2 then rooted with a toolkit. For reasons I can't remember I then un-rooted and locked back bootloader. Now, games like dead trigger tell me my device is incompatible with them, even though they ran well on 4.1.1.
What can I do ? Flash another stock version of 4.1.2 ?
Thank you
I don't think there is any link between your root status and software compatibility, you could flash the 4.1.2 stock image to be sure, but I think it more likely that your game needs to be updated.
Rooting does not change your build.prop fingerprint, but the update to 4.1.2 does. This is what the market uses to judge what software will run on your device along with your locale.

There's a lot of things that aren’t compatible with 4.1.2. I'm still running them. You can make a back up the next time to keep the apps. Or use app back up and restore to make a apk and install it on your N7.

Actually rooting 4.1.2 with the toolkit changed a setting and thus making the n7 incompatible with tegra 3 games

Like you can’t install those tegra 3 games from unknown sources?
I have dead space for GB and it doesn't work on ICS or JB, but I backed up the game into a apk and installed it. It worked after that.

Nexus 7 not updating from 4.1.1 to 4.2

Hello! I have an unrooted N7 that is stuck with 4.1.1. I regularly get a notification advising me of an update & I run it through the process only to be discouraged to find I'm still stuck with 4.1.1.
Can anyone help? I don't want to root & do a bunch of crazy stuff to get the update. Is there a good fix without rooting?
FYI, I found a "fix" that required turning off WiFi, clearing the some of the systems cache, turning the WiFi back on & searching for an update. No dice...

If you have nothing to lose your best and easiest fix would most likely be to perform a factory reset.
Cheers

Try applying the update. When your tablet reboots and you see the Android on your screen, hold down the power button then, while holding it down, press volume up. That'll put the stock recovery in verbose mode. When it errors out, post what the text says here.
Similar thing here.
Brand new 32gb Nexus 7, finds the 4.2 update but half way through I get a Android with a red triangle/exclamation mark which then reboots back to 4.1.2
Be happy your stuck on jelly bean 4.1.x!

Tried half a dozen times then did a manual forced update using this guide, easy to follow and worked first time.

Yes, I wanted to say this. stay on 4.1.1 or 4.1.2,.... 4.2.x is a piece of crap. Much slower, not the same device at all.
Thanks for advice, then I tried not to update to 4.2 and be happy at stucked 4.1.2
finger crossed and wait for next stable version instead.

4.2.1 is pretty stable, stability is not the problem, but initially it broke a lot of apps compatibility (ok, this will be solved in time), but no matter what I do I have feeling it is slower, and it stutters. I never had this with 4.1.1 or 4.1.2. And I was so happy with my Nexus until 4.2 Anyways, I had 4.2 on my original Nexus, then it died and I sent for repairs, now I have new motherboard (so it counts as different device) and factory-installed 4.2 and it is the same. Even sometimes when playing a game it just stops for a split second... Trust me, new notifications and multi user (if you're not using it) is not worth the smoothness of 4.1.1
Cheers,
D.

Thanks for reply, I'm curious to know as why my N7 stuck at 4.1.2, there may be reason as I tried several times update (reboot and installed, stuck at 4.1.2) no matter how I tried) but I'm peace in mind as 4.1.2 stability.

[Q] Android 4.2 vs 4.2.2

I have a stock Nexus 4 and it says an Update is available.
So far, my phone has been working ok and I am afraid that the Update will cause issues.
Does anyone know what are the changes between 4.2 and 4.2.2?

An update doesn't cause issues, it fixes them... Especially an update from Google directly.
Also if you Google search "4.2.2 Changelog" you'll get what you're looking for.
Its not that hard. :good:

I always flash the whole rom instead of OTA`s to avoid issues. You get them here https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occam.

What is this update Google wants to give me?

I flashed factory images for 4.4 the day Google released them and today I got a notification for a 3.4 MB system update for 4.4. Looking around the internet I don't see anything about the update at all. Does anybody know what this update brings to the table. At 3.4 MB I don't think its gonna have much besides bug fixes. I haven't flashed it cuz my battery is too low

Word has come down from the Android-Build group that new source code for Android 4.4 KitKat is on the way, containing a number of bugfixes.
This new build KRT16S. (The original pushed out was KRT16O.
In addition, new factory images — including binaries — will be available for the Nexus 4, Nexus 7s and Nexus 10.
No word yet on exactly what's changed, though we did discover a pretty significant audio bug in the Nexus 5. This also could help explain the sluggish push of over-the-air updates for the Nexus devices.

Android 4.4 OTA Update

I'm currently running GE international edition android 4.3 ROM by Jamal on my att gs4 and I got this notification today. Should I update it or not?
Out won't work, you have the same phone just custom Google edition software running on it. You don't have a Google edition device.

Better wait untill fixed 4.4 GE comes out. This one has too much problems atm.
Random reboot, Security settings don't work, camera flash doesn't work, when you tap android 4.4 the kitkat logo isnt apearing but it gets stuck on the theme wallpaper etc..

Yeah that's always the way. It just highlights that the i9505 and the i9505 are indeed different devices, despite appearing to be exactly the same. I'd say give it a little while, most of the issues are kernel related. The 4.3 GE rom untouched is a pleasure to use, but it took some work from the devs to get it going. I'd imagine once they get it runing it'l be awesome. While I'm excited to get it running, patiene is the key!
(although I have to stop myself from being a big baby "I waaant it, iwantitiwantitiwantit!"
