Try formatting your SD Card to FAT rather than FAT32
I had problems before with the SD card formated to FAT32 when WMP would suddenly stop recognising the micro SD card after a day or so of use. Reformatted to fat and havent had any problems since.
Thanks, i will try to format fat, but how can i do this if using my tytn, i dont have a external driver tu plug my micro sd or the adapter that comes with it.
I will try the program to

It nothing problem with your SD card. WMP just can't recongize your Micro SD card which contain hidden or system folder like "MSMETADATA". Just delete this folder and the WMP can search and add media files again.
WMP sucks.

In WMP in the library screen you select between the machine memory and the SD card memory by using the library drop down in the top left corner of the screen. Have you done this?

Is this from Main Memory or the SD Card?
Beards
In my case it's everything alright (plays bundled songs) until I put memory card with mp3's. Then it stops playing anything and hangs every time I go to music tab.
From SD card
Hi
it's the mp3 albums I have put on my sd card
I have a folder for each album with one .jpg file for the album art
Thanks in advance
Solution
Its the SD card slowing the music tab down. You need to go through your sd card and organize it better and delete unwanted material. The Touchflo3d music tab is basically having to search through your entire sd card everytime you restart the device and open the music tab. Or you haven't opened the music tab for several hours. It's basically checking to see if you've added new music to your storage card.
I wish there was a way to manually search for new music and not have it automatically do it. maybe when some cooked roms come out they can disable the auto search function.
The thing that speed up my music tab dramatically was removing GPS map data off my storage card. Or if you have something like googlemaps or windows live search maps cacheing to your storage card turn that off and delete all those folders off your storage card.
I know this solution kind of sucks if you have something like TomTom or IGO on your storage card, but its the only way i've seen to fix it right now with no cooked roms available.
I would also like to note that the Tytn II had such an issue that was related to opening the ZIP file program. When it auto searched for zip files on your storage card it would nearly slow down to a halt if you had GPS map data or cache on your storage card, because it was searching through every map/cache file on there.
In conclusion this isn't just a Touch HD problem its a SD card processing problem that I've seen on multiple devices inclusing the the trusty Tytn II. The only solution will be is if a cooked ROM or cab file will edit the registry or software and turn off autosearch for the music tab and allow us to manually search for new songs when we need to.
utvol06 is quite correct and is the very reason why I asked earlier which area you use to store music data.
I bet you also have several applications installed that again as utvol06 mentions is using the cards processing time.
If you want total proof, copy a few songs to the Blackstone, take out the SD card and try to play those music files again...... I bet you have no problem.

Could this be avoided by using a SD card with a higher class rating? I had an 8GB class 2 card supplied with my HD but I swapped it for a class 4 which I'd been using in my Omnia. I have 3GB of music on it at the moment (about 70 albums) and have never experienced any type of freezing or slow down. In fact no problems at all.
Try installing SD TuneUp, you can get it on the following link :

Had similar problem where the Music tab would just hang searching and then find only a few files and would not want to play them. I'm running a 16gb class 2 card mostly full of music with about 4gb space left. After an unplanned hard reset the Music tab is now working like a dream. I don't think it will be the card especially if you have used it on a previous device without problem.
I did hard reset this morning and no help at all. I've got 8GB class 2 but also another 8GB class 4 and is the same. I wonder if tomtom maps and other software on card causes that Sad becuse maps takes lot of space and you can't put them to internal memory.

I've also got TomTom maps on my storage card. Have you tried a third party music player? Will that work with the SD card/s? I had Pocket Player which worked fine even though HTC Music Audio Manager didn't so in my case it was definitely Touch Flo Music that was the problem. After my hard reset I installed and used Pocket Player before attempting to try the Touch Flo music tab. May be a coincidence but every little bit may help!
Any Ideas

I'll keep thinking about what I did but one thing I remember is hard resetting without the sd card in the phone - I expect you've already tried that.
In a slightly similar vein... how do I get it to keep playing when the HD goes into sleep mode? (ie the screen goes off)
I want to use my HD instead of my iPod shuffle, but it's not good if it stops playing after 2 minutes when the screen goes off...
Thanks.
I have this problem too, and the SD TuneUp didn't work Unless I need to reinstall it for a new storage card?
I don't want to use any other media player because I want it to be in TouchFlo3D!

I too have Tomtom installed on the SD card but as I mentioned earlier I don't have a problem.
Whenever I select the music tab it takes about 4-5 seconds for anything to appear on the tab. This is irrespective of the ROM used. My SD Card is 16GB and FAT32. Songs are about 850 in 21 sub-folders in one main folder "Music" on the card.
Just wondering does anyone else have this problem or is there an existing tweak or something ?
The card has already been checked for errors and I have backed up everything, formatted the card and copied back. Same problem !

Don't have a problem with that. Just a question: are you trying to load a playlist with all 850 songs?

Hmm.. No I am not loading anything at all.
Scenario (example) :
Phone starts...after 1 hour of idling...i want to listen to music so I press the music tab...it takes almost 5+ secs to show any kind of music info on the tab...be it album ...the icons...etc
start calling and doing more stuff....want to listen again...above things just repeat
Hope I am clear...I am gonna try and load a 8GB card with same music and file structure and see if gives same problem

That's weird. For me it takes max 1 or 2 secs (if the library is loaded that is). I've 1100 songs on a 16gb storage card.
Another question do you have mp3 files or apple files. (I have a load problem with the last type of files, because when I load these they are always loaded as a pile of covers... )

I've read somewhere that the problem can also be caused by names that are too long. Anyway, please report back if you've found a solution. I heavely depend on the HTC music player and am monitoring all kind a problems and solutions for it. (In case that... you know)

thnk you for your help
that's the problem of this phone. it corrupts the xme library in some memory cards that it has problems with. like the one i have. 1gig fat32 formatted. gives so much tension every time i have to put data in it. but works flawlessly in Nokia's.
Not sure if it is a phone problem.. Since I have a 4 GB memory card with approx 2.5 GB Music files. never had any problems whatsoever. BTW, before 'putting' the data, make sure it plays in your PC.
it plays of course :/

It depends on the format of the video / audio file, whether it should play in your mobile or not. To play all kind of videos, you need TCPMP (free) or CorePlayer (Paid). Like you can't play divx or avi file in WMP or the HTC Video Player.
In case of audio files, AFAIK, AAC files are not supported, again for a full range of audio file playability you need some professional player like PocketMusic.
damn...kill me but don't think that i am that much of a fool that i don't know what to do and what files can be played or not... i got core player from the awesomeness way cracked, installed and deleted. cuz i don't need it. i can easily convert and put files into my mobile. either way this problem my love isn't related to formats/**** etc.
I recently had just bought a 32gb Sandisk micro SD card for my HTC Evo. When I hook my phone up to computer, change it to a disk drive and go to transfer music it say it goes on my phone. But when I go to play the songs, they just skip 1 after another after another. And non of them work. I dont know if I need to make a special folder or something on my phone. But then when I load up Astro to look through my files it shows it on my sd card, but that its not actually there. If that makes any sense.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance..
That's strange. I just bought the Wintec 32GB Class 10 and it works fine. I did notice, though, after I load up a bunch of music, that it takes Android a long time to catalog it all. It sits there, screen flashing, popping up the "Updating Media Files" notification for a long time. The songs don't show up in my music player until this process is complete. Does your phone do that as well?
Are the song from itunes? Do they have DRM?
Did you try formatting the SD card?
Sent from my Evo using XDA app
Device: HTC Evo 4G
Rom: Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS 5
Kernel: netarchy-toastmod-4.2.1 cfs
Recovery: Amon_RA-supersonic
what music player are you using? I suggest DoubleTwist.
im just using the default media player that came with it. And not from itunes. Im just linking my computer to it, and dragging and dropping into my sd card. normally ill make a folder and name it music. dunno if i need to do anything maybe to the folder?
Try searching for SD card spreed fix.....I had the same problem
HTC EVO
I use poweramp and I usually have to go into the settings and tell it to "rescan folders" and sometimes you can select what folders it looks in. Check for similar settings in your player.
You have been EVOfied.
Have you looked at how large the files are on the SD Card? Making sure they actually contain data (the music)?
Can you play the files from the SD Card when you have the phone mounted to the computer?

Well when the phone is mounted, it cant read anything off the card.. Theres something going wrong from it being on my computer to when it transfers to the SD card and then is un mounted. I just dont know what that is..
Create a folder on the sd card named music and drop them all in there. Then make sure in settings the sd card is mounted. home screen/settings/sd card and storage. I think it causes issues when you just drop them on the root of the sd card. Some don't have a problem but others do.
Do you have a SD card reader you could use to check out the contents of the card not through the phone?
Agree with the post to make a music folder, that's how mine is.
