Hey all, I have the WiFi only 8gb model and just as of recently it cannot connect to WiFi AP's. It has the ability to see signal strength of AP's but the WiFi icon in the status bar remains empty an and it can't authenticate to either the home router or my phone as a hotspot.
NFC is off, device is rooted, tried wiping everything, no gaps cracks or bumps in back cover, etc...
Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks

Try using WPA/WPA2 PSK encryption is you are not already using encryption.
What's changed? Now ROM? New router? New software installed?

Nothing, I haven't used it since July 4th. Now visiting my patents and it won't work with either AP. Unless it got damaged on the flight out but it was with me the whole time.
Also yes both are encrypted with WPA2.

So i just got the droid x and updated it now whenever i connect to router it connects then discounnects is there a way to fix it or do i need new one?
If you have an 802.11N router change the settings to G only.
I had to do that on my D-link. I believe because I have a mixed network.

Mine does the same thing. It will drop wifi randomly. I think it is something wrong with certain x's.

So I took my n7 to work today for the first time and it automatically signed in to or secured WiFi without me putting in a password. I subsequently took it to two other locations that have password protected networks and it automatically connected. All the of these locations are places that I HAVE taken my gs3, my question is this....are these WiFi network somehow remembered by my Google account or something? If not, how did the n7 connect to them? I am certain that these networks are password protected because I have used them before on other devices. I am also certain that my n7 has never been connected to them before because I have only had it for a week. Any help would be appreciated.

So when I lock my Nexus 7, my wifi will drop after a minute or so, and in order for it to stay on I have to keep the screen unlocked and on. Does anyone know what I could do to fix this? Thanks.

Should have clarified, I have it set to stay on.
This is a well documented issue and has just happened on 4.2.1. I have the same issue and looking for a fix

I'm stock rom, rooted, cwm recovery, 4.2.1. My wi-fi is rock solid perfect. Some issues that have caused problems are the encryption method (wpa seems best), too long or special characters in the network password, outdated firmware on the router, reset of router needed, static ip seems to help some.
I recently bought my wife a nexus 4 abs she's been having a problem where when she disconnects from wifi her mobile network won't connect, it says 4g but it's greyed out. I know she should still have connection but she doesn't, everything just times out. Only thing that fixed it was a reboot, anyone else experience this issue? And she's on stock rom, not rooted.

No worries it'll reconnect to the servers.

This only happens to me when my WiFi connection decides to disconnect! Both my Service and WiFi gray out when my WiFi does not work. I have a terrible at&t internet service! But other than that it works properly.

Does it just never turn blue after turning off wifi? Its supposed to turn off mobile data when wifi is on to save battery. It could just be an issue with your carrier
Well like I said a reboot does fix it, from what I understand it's just when disconnecting from wifi. The time interval was about 10 minutes and her mobile data still wasn't connected. We're on tmobile btw. I thought it might just be an n4 issue, I don't experience that issue on my one.

After upgrading to 4.3, I have lost my Wifi performance to my normal router. Now, while still able to scan available routers, I'm no longer able to connect.
Anyone know of a solution, short of an RMA?

Wat kind of router are you using and what frequency? 5Ghz or 2.4?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
One is a linksys, the other is unknown as it's at the doctors office. As for frequency, one of each.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
Change wifi channel at router and try again.
With other wifi networks works fine?
Sent from my NookColor using Tapatalk 4
No. I have no connectivity. Wi-Fi performance has slowly diminished since I did the upgrade.

Setting a static IP has fixed it for me. Setting it on the phone that is. Happens far less now than when i didn't have a static IP.
How did you upgrade at 4.3?
Through official OTA?
if you could check it, reflash only radio.Img from factory Rom.

My issue is not that bad.. the only issue i have since the update is the wifi signal drops completely, and the router next to me on my desk. The signal comes and goes for a couple of minutes then goes back to normal

The upgrade was done via a full wipe (was rooted at the time) and flashed the image from Google. Phone has been stock since. After the upgrade, I noticed the Wi-Fi signal went from four bars in the living room to three. Before losing connectivity completely, then two. One to none happened pretty quick.
