So I updated to 4.3 official today and everything so far is nice and smooth except when I set a custom image wallpaper ex 1920x1080 using gallery the images are blocky/blurry...when I use 3rd party wallpaper setting app and its super clear in my screen. Can anyone else confirm this "bug"?
First image(set by gallery) look at the line compared to the second image (using 3rd party wallpaper setting app)

I recently copied my 1920x1200 wallpapers from my PC onto the Tab, but when I set any of them as wallpaper you can easily tell how bad/low quality they become. I read somewhere that the Gallery app does this, but I couldn't find any other app that sets wallpapers! Even root explorer or Astro points to the Gallery.
Doesn't sound like the gallery app to me. Sounds like those wallpapers are too high of a resolution. When you set it as wallpaper it has to resize which is causing the poor image quality.
Try setting the wallpapers to the resolution of the tab, they'll be good then.
N.B the gallery issue doesn't touch your images, just the way they are displayed in the app
Yes, it's gallery which makes the wallpaper blurry. Try QuickPic, you'll see the difference. Myself, I'm using MultiPic live wallpaper, so I can have different pic for each page.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Now it works. I used a wallpaper chooser/creator app called dodol wallpaper and now my wallpaper is displaying high resolution images.
I don't know why Gallery app is down sizing the quality when setting a selected image as wallpaper, infact, I have no idea how this whole thing works lol.
thank you sooooo much for this thread; i never knew what caused all the wallpapers I set to be so low quality, i just couldn't figure it out and I assumed since no one was talking about it that either it was my tab or that's just the way it was and I'd have to deal with it.
anyone have problems with the sizing of the wallpaper on adw? got the new update and now everything seems to be shifted down and cuts off the bottom of the wallpaper. the regular launcher works fine but can't seem to get my dl'ed wallpapers to work
Same issue for me and if I didn't like the dock so much I'd go back to stock. There is a partial work around by using an app called multiwallpaper (I think that's what its called).
This app is actually a live wallpaper that can provide a different wallpaper for each screen. As live wallpapers aren't affected by this size changing, you see the full thing. Unfortunately, even if you set to 1 image, it still puts a separate wallpaper with that image on each page so you don't get that moving effect you would normally get with one wallpaper stretching across all the screens. I might be missing something but that has been my experience.
Hi guys,
So I had this Ripple Live Wallpaper that I used on my S2 running Jelly Bean and selected a custom wallpaper and no problems.
Now I have this amazing Note 3 and when I select the default wallpapers in the app everything works fine. But whenever I select a custom wallpaper the Live Wallpaper goes black and tells me "Unfortunately 'App Name', has stopped".
So I downloaded this really cool looking Live Wallpaper called "Fluid" which has awesome ripple like features. Using the built in wallpapers works fine, but when I select an image I downloaded it give the exact same error as above.
Does anybody know why this would happen and how do I get it to work..?
Thanx...
Anyone...?
Maybe someone could install the Live Wallpaper and try to set a custom image as wallpaper and see if they also get the error..?
Seems some of the live wallpapers are not yet completely compatible wit KitKat.
Just got another one which works flawlessly with my Note 3, custom image and all.
If anyone would like to know they can pm me.
every other device has the option to set as various wallpapers but this only lets me set the desktop wallpaper which becomes the defacto lock screen wallpaper. tried with quickpic, googles photos app and the inbuilt gallery but nothing.
in wallpaper under settings i get a list of app to set it with but nothing else.
on 6.0.1 btw.
Hello.
I have been attempting to use the super wallpapers ported from MIUI 12 since, as far as I know, the Note 7 does not support this feature.
I followed the instructions and downloaded the apks, installing them and then applying them through the Google Wallpapers app. While this does apply the super wallpaper to the home screen, the lock screen is left untouched, continuing to show whatever wallpaper was added using the stock Themes or Gallery apps. I did a bit of googling and tried to use an older tactic that seemed to work for some users on MIUI 11: set a video wallpaper from the stock Gallery app, and whatever live wallpaper that was added on top of it from Google Wallpapers would appear to overlay on top of the non-renderable video. This unfortunately did not work due to me having a system wallpaper installed, which appears to continue to exist under the gallery-applied wallpaper. This applies for any wallpaper added from the Themes app.
I decided to uninstall the Themes and Themes Module system apps using Termux and Debloater (Terminal Emulator) from Magisk. This seemed to leave the last-installed wallpaper from the Themes and/or Gallery app stuck on the lock screen, with no viable way to change it. After reinstalling the two system apps, the Themes app can no longer connect to servers, giving an error when trying to load wallpapers and crashing when selecting themes from My Page. I am essentially blocked from changing my lock screen wallpaper from the Themes app, and setting a wallpaper from Gallery also gives an error "cannot load wallpaper."
Aside from this, there are no other issues with my device. Any suggestions? Thank you.
My device has stable MIUI Global 12.0.1 and Orangefox Recovery.
