OTA JB Update

Hi just wondering if doing the ota jb update for the verizon droid razr m non developer edition will break anything such as not allowing you to use safestrap or blocking rooting? Thanks
You will lose root from the update but you can just re root or you can use an app called ota root keeper

Sweet thanks

Losing root after OTA.

So I was an idiot and did the ota update while I had root in the phone. And now obviously I don't have root. So can I flash the stock rom through odin and after ota root it again? I searched for a thread like this and didn't find any. Thanks for any replies.
Root it again with motochopper. It works just fine.

Yes and this is what you should do after rooting. Should restore after ota. Just make sure its been backed up before applying an ota.
Whaaat! I couldn't OTA because I rooted. How do you OTA??

[Q] Nexus 4 OTA 4.3 update getting

Sorry for the noob questions but I tried to update my Nexus 4 currently rooted with 4.2.2 and Franco Kernel and I'm getting the error message "Installation Aborted". Do I need to unroot my phone in order to update to the 4.3 OTA?
Everything needs to be stock for the ota update.

Is is possible to go back to stock without losing all my data such as photos, messages, apps etc...?
What else did you change besides rooting it and installing Franco kernel?

Those were the only 2 modifications that I made. Would it possible to sideload 4.3 without having to return back to stock?

To install the ota, you can be rooted, but you have to root again. You have to be on the stock kernel and on stock recovery (for both how-tos can be found in the forums). Hopefully you didn't modification anything on the system ui or deinstalled some of the system apps, if you did you have to reflash a stock image, this can also be done without losing your data(how-to can be found in the forum), but In this case it would be easier to flash a 4.3 directly.
I'm sure you will manage your way. Good luck and happy reading
Franco kernel changes a lot of stuff, so u might get a bootloop. Just find the 4.2.2 stock kernel and flash of, then try to sideload the ota update.

You cannot update a rooted device via OTA - it'll download, but it won't install. You have to unroot to install it, and I don't even think it works. - Better flashing it via Odin, then re-rooting.

Rooted 4.3 or 4.4 update

To install the OTA update for 4.4 you have to unroot. Is the 4.4 update worth losing root access?

A thread has already been started for 4.4.2 KitKat.
Route all KitKat questions here:

That would really be up to what you think is more important.
I am fine with running rooted 4.4 until the "official" gets root.
If you switch I do believe you will be stuck with it. I would think that MJ5 restore will work.
