Android 4.3 Bluetooth Radio Track Info Now Working - One (M7) General

I just wanted to let you guys know that AOSP finally has bluetooth track info working with Bluetooth 4.0. The leaked 4.3 was not working with the track info with the car radio.
Most likely when the ROM was pulled from the phone off craigs list a few keys areas were missed. I tested this with the Nexus 4, 7 & 10 and all is good.
I know this is the HTC one thread (my personal phone) but I wanted to share that we are good to go with Track Info after all these years.
*Yes I know HTC Sense and Samsung fixed this with their own bluetooth stack, this is and upgrade for AOSP users.
WooHoo!

I installed the leaked 4.3 ROM on my Nexus 4 last week and Bluetooth LE (track info) worked fine.

Avrcp 1.3 is what you're talking about. Bluetooth LE (low energy) is a lower power Bluetooth specification.

Not new. Its been in OEM firmware for a while and custom aosp based ROMs like cm prior to 4.2. It's new as far as being an official part of AOSP.

Spirit FM Radio App with RDS (Beta, only for Gingerbread+/CM7+)

There is an app that support FM radio with RDS in our phones. I've tested it and it works fine in Mik's CM7:
I'm not the developer and have nothing to do with this project.

Unique features:
- It works without headphones connected (better signal with them).
- RDS support.
I used it on LOL 1.42 and unfortunatelly not working

Thanks, I've added the info to the title.
I'm trying to get a video with sound of screencast of the radio for my GT540 area post.
Nice to see that someone knows about my topic so quickly (the info + screens one)
I can't use it on my country (Indonesia)

Downloaded this app this morning, it seems to be fairly stable and foolproof on CM7 mik's 6.42, I don't have any RDS stations in my area so I can't test whether it works but I can see this becoming a default app choice with some work on aesthetics, I must say however, that I still need headphones to get reception for any channels but that is probably more down to the radio station not the app.
I tested it yesterday and its working well. Excellent/loud sound quality plus it does shows RDS stations. I think its better thn the default FM radio application (MIUI) in Mik's rom.
Thanks OP for sharing it.

AFAIK, it should work on Android v2.1+.
At this time it's more a matter of a ROM supporting a working hcitool, and/or with TI chips a working btipsd_cli. I'm working on a solution that speaks directly to the HCI UART to deal with proprietary BT stacks. There are also phones with audio routing issues but I'm working on that too.
Googled my app name and found this thread. I was using a Desire HD for Broadcom FM chip testing but now I have a P500h.
I tried to re-flash the stock Telus ROM yesterday to see if my HCI UART solution would work on P500 stock ROM, but couldn't get that LG flasher working right. Last time I dealt with that program I bricked an Optimus Chic several months ago.
Tried to get void ROM running and was stuck in an LG logo loop. Now back to mik_os CM and hesitant to try any other ROM as I want to get back to app dev and not frustrating ROM flash attempts.
I'm starting to think LG made a few too many engineering shortcuts to make the P500 relatively inexpensive. Battery was too tight when I had to remove to get out of emergency mode or stop boot loop. Screwdriver bit into the battery and created a few sparks but phone kept on running, LOL.
I may not check this thread too often, so I'd encourage discussion on the thread in my sig.
Welcome Mike.

CM9 for Galaxy Tab 2!

It's exactly what the title says...it's on another certain forum that starts with a r...I'm using it right now...already excellent as a daily driver...though the author says it's barely alpha...I would highly advise checking it out! Surprised it hasn't been mentioned here yet..

From the thread:
What's not working:
--Audio Capture (voice commands, camcorder audio)
--Bluetooth Bluetooth actually works for connecting and data transfer..will not work for audio as I haven't gotten there yet.
--Chrome Beta not working yet
--YouTube not showing in market (and probably a few others (although you can download and sideload YouTube from the link below and it works, also webviewing YouTube works)

I personally wouldn't really want to use that unless at least the Chrome and audio issues were fixed (those are also the reasons I abandoned the AOKP ROM here).
I use the stock browser, and i can wait on Bluetooth a2dp, so yeah, if those are deal beakers, not a good rom, other than that, it's working flawlessly...

No ROM that is made from AOSP has these features that you "need" in them currently due to kernel source not being complete from Samsung.
Blame Samsung, not any development. Have fun on TouchWiz while the rest of us test drive the future of our tablets.
PS: No one is making you use these roms.
I didnt't mean to sound critical, only to mention some of the limitations that prevent me and people a lot like me from using it as a daily. No offense or criticism intended.
Can somebody link to cm9, and make a small guide on how to root and flash.

CM9 with stock kernel?
Would it be possible to make a CM9 rom with the stock kernel so that mic and other things work?
To answer a couple of questions, it's my understanding that it's against forum rules to link to an outside forum....afraid you'll have to google it.
Also, CM9 requires an AOSP kernel, so the stock kernel wouldn't be compatible.
Not the answers anyone wanted, but that's my take.
xpensen causes
The sound not working wasnt because of the kernel source. I just hadnt gotten to it yet
Samsung released new kernel sources that work so the heavier fixing can begin. Last build had working mic as well as the sound. Still need to get bluetooth audio working but dont have a headset to test with :'( . Going to see if I can borrow one for a few days so I can get it working.

Car audio and phone guy question

I just had a new deck installed, here's the one I had installed, http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-P8400BH
And when I plug my phone in to the USB, it says device unrecognized. Is that normal for Nexus devices? Is there any fix for it? And no bluetooth information is displayed, i see its something to do with something that LG or Samsung puts in their branded phones, so its absent from a Nexus, is there any rom with it in it?
Hey there. Same deck and same phone here. For the USB to phone, don't bother. Never got it to work myself. As far as information displaying while playing, many of the custom ROMs support this (CM10.1, AOKP, etc.), so you might want to give one of them a shot. I'm not sure this is something that can be added, or if it's something that that requires a whole ROM to implement.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium HD app
The nexus 4 doesn't use UMS for mounting. It uses MTP. Unfortunately it won't be compatible with your deck or any other device for that matter.
There aren't any ROMs that will change that either.

I'm guessing this wont be in any AOSP based ROMs though? None of the ones I've used support this. Maybe I'll try CM when they finally get a stable version out, can't stand nightlies.

Haha, gotta love a cheap solution. Esp as he's just bought a new receiver.
Don't bother with cm right now. Apparently because of the new Bluetooth stack Google used in 4.21 they had to pull out AVRCP v1.3 (the Bluetooth control protocol that allows for song meta data to be sent to the headset) out of cm10.1 and revert back to v1.0 that only allows control...No metadata.
Stock Android only has AVRCP v1.0 so that's why it doesn't work on any stock Nexus device.
...but my wife's GS3 has AVRCP v1.3...boo.

Anybody got nexus 7 to work with jawbone up?

I am interested in buying a jawbone up but from what i can read online no one has successfully synced jawbone up with nexus 7..wondering if experts here have had better luck ? Nexus 7 is not on their supported devices at the moment but you can install the app.

Well to answer both your question, I have to say it does work with the nexus 7. the app is not currently in the app store on google play, you have to download the app separately. a quick google and you shall find what you are looking for. its slow to upload, but works. goggle jawbone up apk for samsung note 2, this is the version I am using and I have to say it works.
Nexus 7 is missing line in support
Do you also get the arm wrist to sync with your nexus 7?
I read that the up needs line in support on the audio jack and neither the old or new nexus 7 provide that.
Of course you can install the app but without syncing there is not much sense in it.
Would be glad to hear that i'm wrong...

It works just fine on my Nexus 7 2013, I can sync it with no problems, so far. I am running stock KitKat (4.4.2) ROM, if it matters.

Thats cool. Do u have the new up24 which syncs via Bluetooth or the old version which uses the audio jack?
Where did u get the app from?
Thanks for your reply

Jawbone UP v2 (audio jack one) + Nexus 7 fhd 2013 works great together
get the app from here apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader
you can get every app directly from the store. just put in the link or the app name (com.jawbone.up) and get it.
the first time i plugged the wristband didn't work at all.. sync error
i hard reset the wrist the first time (9 click + 1 long 30sec click) then i hack with volume and after some plugs and unplugs it worked.
if volume is max or min it doesn't sync.
i hope it helped.

Bluetooth LE on G2?

Was wondering if anyone happened to know if the LG G2 currently supports Bluetooth 4.0 LE. Some sources say it does while others do not mention it at all. I believe LE is an Android 4.3 feature but I believe some manufacturers had managed to add LE support in earlier versions of Android. Was hoping that this was perhaps the case with the G2. Thanks in advance.
It does. I don't have any devices that use a LE to test it.

That's great! Thank you very much. Any idea if there is any difference between the Verizon version and others in regards to bluetooth?
I think that Bluetooth LE is baked into the chip, but I think you might need Android 4.3 to take advantage? Or LG put it in their skin as I don't think it was AOSP in 4.2.2.
I'm using LG G2 with android 4.4.2 and I tried to connect two devices that require LE. No success!
However I was tring to pair it using the regular Bluetooth phone's menu. It seems that Android devices need the app itself to solve the BLE connection. So, I will try to pair it using a few apps like RunKeeper or MapMyRun.
BT LE works great, I use it to connect to my Garmin watch. I did have to restart my phone after pairing for it to work properly. You do have to have 4.3 or newer. I'm on 4.4.2.
