I rooted my Galaxy S4 i9500 and installed WanamLite.
The speaker volume was significantly lower than it was with the stock ROM so I reverted back to stock.
I tried mods that were supposed to increase the volume but they didn't work.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
Any ideas would be appreciated.
TIA.

No, I didn't try that. Do you think it's worth another try? Because I'm back on stock now.
Update: OK, I've decided to give it another go and it works! Thanks a lot for your suggestion.
Maybe you know what's the highest safe value for the speaker amplification so it doesn't blow out the speaker?
I set it at 8db, is that ok?
Thanks again.

I only go for 4,, 8 is too much, and would probably damage the Speakers in the long run.

I may be missing a setting somewhere but my audio via headphones is very loud. Even at the lowest setting it is probably only just bearable. I'm running custom kernel (chronic) and ROM (cyanogen) so I appreciate it isn't exactly stock!
I've tried Apollo and Play Music which both exhibit the same issue.
Before I wipe and reload again does anyone have any thoughts?
thanks

Probably the sound file was edited. You can manually edit it if you want. If not, just flash other ROMs.
See this thread for more sound loudness mod.
Thanks will give it a go!
Stopped all audio from working and hard resets the phone so didn't work unfortunately.
cheers

There used to be a thread where they teach ppl how to manually modify the sound files to increase the loudness. I can't seem to find it anymore.
I appreciate you trying. Will have a look around too.
Cheers
When playing music or listening to an audio books, I set the volume to full but after a minute or so it drops to about 75%. I've looked around without any luck.
Perhaps somebody can directed me to the right place to be a lock on the volume.
Thanks

Maybe that Adapt Sound thing is enabled and configuring your volume automatically. Did you check this? If it's enabled, disable it.
Settings>Sound>Adapt Sound
No luck with adapt sound
Sounds like something to do with the hearing damage warning.Try to find a way to reset it.Some countries have specific laws about it so your CSC may have something to do with it.
Good luck.
thanks, Fellas
The culprit was an app called VOLUME LOCK, which worked fine on an Note 1 but was either installed incorrectly or doesn't work properly on an N3. It's gone and I have no more troubles with the volume on my device.
Thanks again for your input.
Anyone using or know of any volume mods that work with Cyanogenmod 12?
I tried one in the T-Mo s4 forum but it was over year old. It worked but every time I got a call my phone flipped out and crash.
Don't know why CM toned down the volume on the speaker so much. Used to be the loudest.

Googy-Max kernel had options to change the gain of the mic, speaker etc. Try that.

THANK YOU. Works perfectly.
STILL NOT FIXED
I have rooted and unlocked my Axon 7 (A2017G) and edited the mixer_paths.xml file to make the audio output louder.
But there's a little problem (and I don't know if it's because of the mixer paths edit, I don't think so)
My top speaker sounds a lot more dull than my bottom speaker. My bottom speakers seem to be louder too.
How to check this? And are there more people experiencing this?
Thanks in advance.
Did not do anything to my A2017G, but I find that my top speaker is louder and "sparks" when near at full volume

Some say it's dust, but I don't know how. I haven't called with this phone much.
Bump. It's everywhere. Even on LineageOS, bottom speaker is almost twice as loud :/ It can't be dust.
BUMP
This problem is getting on my nerves. The bottom speaker is twice as loud and crispy as the top speaker, which sounds dull.
Anyone else had this and possibly fixed it?
Two questions
Did you try to reset your phone and test the speakers again?
Is there the same problem on YouTube and mp3 music files?

1. Yes I switched between roms to test modems and other stuff for ZTE.
2. Ofcourse. It's obviously the same on every output.
I guess it's just a hardware fault, but I thought maybe someone would have fix (clean it or something?)
Then I would say that this is an hardware problem indeed.
Having the same issue here, thought that other ROM will provide the fix but still zilch. Rooting the phone only meant the void of guarantee so not really good move there either.
I read somewhere online that usually bottom speaker is the one to go out first and that global version has the speakers a lot different then American and Chinese version). Any other possible fixes before replacing it? And where to find the replacement too?
Update: it should be software related since the sound in earphones has the same problem - only inverted. Which means there should be a tweak in binary or something?
I'm willing to pay to whoever makes this problem disappear. I'm beyond the point of helplessness here...
Fixed!
Fixed the issue finally! ??
Go to:
- settings
- advanced settings
- accessibility
- mono speaker output.
For the last trick to work, just try to disable it, then enable it and restart the device. Disable it again when device rebooted. Worked as a charm for me! So I'll be saving me some money ???

Omg! This problem was bugging me since day 1, but could not find any solution to this... But I've tried what you said and it works wonders! Can't believe I can now finally listen to music the way it was intented, since having a speaker with lower volume on a stereo setup is very annoying. Thank you very much for sharing the solution with us!

You're welcome buddy, I can imagine your happiness and that smile is thanks enough. Cheers.
Hey there
Before changing to an 8.1 rom, i was purely stock and the sound was great. During my time on oreo there was some distortion but it was ok. now that I'm back on stock using the twrp files and keeping bootloader unlocked my sound from the speakers is horrible, it distorts on the middle of the volume bar.
Anyone has the same problem?

Unfortunately not. The sound is now messed up even in stock 7.1.
I'm afraid it's going to be like that for ever
Is this with bluetooth or wired?
If bluetooth, go to developer settings, scroll down and find "Disable absolute volume"
If greyed out, turn it on, see if it helps.
