Major problems while installing different rom - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Hello there!
I got HD2 today, it has windows installed on it and its Swedish.
Ive spent half of day trying to get it done but nothing worked.
I cant install HSPL to go on with the installation, Ive tried everything.
I connect my HD2 to PC and activesync does its work, I can see my mobile phone connected, adding new files works both on local and sd storage.
The problem comes in when I try to install HSPl so I could flash my phone and continue with the installation. Whenever I start HSPL isntallation my HD2 losses its connection with the PC and nothing happens. What could be the problems.
Whats the easiest workaround for this? I really want to install the android os on my phone, I dont like the windows one.
(I have searched the forums, nothing helped me)
MY DEVICE:
ROM v 1.o
Radio T8585
1024Mhz Cpu
Ram 576 Mb
Nand 1024 Mb
32 bit bus
Win mobile 6.5 pro
16 Gb mem card
Is there any other way to install android? Anything?
----------------------------------------------------
So I have tried doing same things today. I tried entering the bootloader using vl down and power up, ol down and reset key, left arrow and power key and the phone just starts my windows nothing. But when I press vl up, dwn and pwr key I get into 4 colour mode and it give me error: Copying file from SD card failed, system will shut down.
I will try to play around it a little bit, maybe try nativeSD somehow, but I dont think Ill manage anything. Help
----------------------------------------------------
When I use clrcad and haret on SDc it starts booting linux, progress bar goes to the end and stays there. Every time. Ive been waiting for some time for it to boot, but it jsut stays there.

Is there a way to get rid of this windows mobile crap easily? Do you think that mobile shops are willing to do this sort of stuff for you?

Try installing HSPL from the bootloader.Turn off phone, hold volume down rocker and boot up.

Cant get into the bootloader, as said. I dont know why & whats causing it, but nothing is working as it should be

Ah, forgive me for skipping that part. I know this problem, and I've seen it many times.
Usually, I am not the one who fixes them, so here is one solution:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25940714&postcount=3
Here's another:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36420418&postcount=20
There are many, you need to search for them. I don't know which will work for you.

No help there, its still the same, no bootloader, nothing.
+
I cant seem to find fastboot anywhere in my settings.
+ My mobile is whole Swedish, I dont understand a thing, but I do manage to get around, but I still cant find fastboot like the one poster said that it might be the problem.
Im not sure whats the problem in the end. I feel that this phone is somehow locked, wont let me do such stuff, but I might be wrong, Im not really the kind of guy thats interested in developing phones, so I dont know most of stuff. Hope some more advices might come in.

Wait.. If it's swedish, why not go into settings and change language to yours (or to English)?
Also, you said "no help there". You mean the windows mobile application didn't let you boot into bootloader? I am quite sure you didn't even try it. It should work, trust me
But the question is: Once you're in the bootloader, and get rid of Windows Mobile, how are you going to go into bootloader again? (since there's no longer an app, or windows to RUN that app)

Well, for the language, I have been trying to change it, but I dont think its possible + Ive found multiple threads on forums about changing lng on windows mobile phone and they said that its not possible.
And for the bootloader, its not working. Seriously, I have been trying to do it for 2 days now. Using buttons, using random apps Ive found here on forums and none of them got me into the bootloader (expect the VL UP, VL DWN, PWR pressed together, which got me into four colour screen (which should be bootloader if Im right), but it turns off straight away if not connected with usb cable. If it is connected it stays at error as said in my first post). I wish I could get rid of the windows somehow so the bootloader would ask me for another rom or however that works, Im not much into it as said.

I somehow managed to get past the verifying the usb connection for HSPL installation, progress bar shows but it goes nowhere & after some time appears this error

No, that combination should get you into hard resetting your device and not into bootloader. Even if it does get you into the bootloader for a fraction of unit time, it won't allow you to flash anything. Volume down only is to get into bootloader
What happens when you follow this post? And by "what happens" I mean what error EXACTLY do you see?

I have tried that thing yesterday. Didnt work. Tried it right now - it does nothing. I run the app and my phone just goes black (like when you tap the power button, lock or something) and it will stay like that without doing anything until i tap the pwr button to unlock it. Nothing really happens

I want to advise you install a ROM from sd card using the LEOIMG.nbh method. But I am not sure which ROM is for which device. (I never actually flashed my phone from sdcard). That might make the bootloader boot up (?). Also, can you confirm that the volume rockers work fine under windows mobile?
To be honest, I am out of solutions. We should wait for other people's.
Sorry I couldn't help.

No problem man, thank you for trying.
Yes, my vol buttons work jsut fine, its just the thing I cant get into the bootloader, no matter which way I try.
LEOIMG method needs bootloader too, right? Or does it go with the clrcad and haret method? Haret doesnt work for me, starts booting stuff and than jsut stays at it

do exactly as i say and tell me what happens:
remove battery
remove sd card
plug in to pc via usb
hold volume down
put battery in
now you should be seeing the tricolor bootloader, right?

I have no SD card slot, I think Its hidden somewhere under since its reading it both on PC & phone.
I have tried doing it without the sd card removal but nothing happens.
Where could I look for the sd card, its not on any side, its not under the battery, its not udner the other 2 romovables

UPDATE:
So I have opened my HD2 up and foudn the sd card under and I have removed it. DId everything you said and still nothing, my HD2 just boots up normally. No bootloader or anything. It seems like my bootloader is hidding somewhere

can you open the back cover, remove battery and take a photo of the phone, then upload it here? (remove imei/serial/sensitive stuff from picture, using paint or some software )

I knew it!! I was going to say it might be fake, but deleted that line for some reason. Anyway, with those double sims trays, it's definitely a clone (unfortunately). How much did you pay for it?
Edit: Nope, not that much that can be done with a clone. You'd be lucky if you were able to even change the Windows Mobile ROM.

Got it for free, my aunt gave it to me. I dont know how much she paid for it. So I should leave it as it is, there is no possible way to change it?

As far as I know (and as my searching abilities go) no, you can't do much. I hope someone proves me wrong.

I just bought a t-mobile wallaby from here in india, And i decided there was a update available after 3.14 or something. so i ran it. But it stopped in the middle. Said 20 min but waited an hour. Then i took the xda of its cradle and did a hard reset... Now all it does is switches on and show t-mobile and the light stay on...nothing after that. I think i really messed it up. why have you decided that you could upgrade your device if you don't understand anything to upgrading and its consequences.

I am now using the XDAII but when i had the XDA1 i had a similar problem. Got stuck upgrading. Hang onto your horses dude your device isn't dead so breath a sigh of relief. If you have a SD/MMC Card reader then use it to burn the base Rom from
http://lumpistefan.dyndns.org and then install it through the boot loader(Hold the Power button and then press the soft reset button using the stylus(you will enter the boot loader mode and then follow the instructions on how to install the Rom.
------------------------------OR--------------------------------------------
Go to a shop or a friend who had similar device, make sure you have a SD/MMC card with you and then enter the bootloader mode as described above and then copy the ROM on the SD Card. Then insert the card in your device and again enter the Boot Loader mode and Copy the Rom from the SD Card to your device after you are done press the Hard reset button on your device to switch it off keep it off for atleast 60 sec before pressing the hard reset button again to switch it on. Your device will live again.
[/b]A WORD OF ADVICE
Don't touch the Radio Stack on either your device or the other one. Always select Rom only.
If you need further help with using the bootloader search these forums you'll come up with alot of info.
Let me know how it works out

I believe there's a way to go-back! Do a flush by pressing on the power button+the hard reset+the navigation button pressed. All at once and that's how you go-back to the original ROM. Let me know if it works and if you dare to do it anyways.. 8)

i'm no techie when it comes to these things but just out of curiousity WHAT causes the upgrade to stop? mananmistry said he was in the middle of upgrading already; is it the rom he used or is it the connection (power flux, cable, sync, etc)? just curious...

now the thing is i got the phone back. I have connected the usb but pc cannot find device and xdatools or the rom .exe files wont install. it says "xda not found via activesync", something like that. I went into the boot loader and it said GSM ERROR and stops. have to press calender key to get into sub-menus. what is the problem. does the rom kitchen .exe files need sactive sync to be present. please can some one tell me.
do i need a sd card reader. can i not just use someone phone to put my sd card and burn onto sd...??
You are now in serious trouble, the GSM error often proves fatal for the phone. You can still flash the rom though by following the previous instructions. After that is completed you will have to try flashing a radio stack. Please be prepared to be disappointed, I wish you the best of luck. The good news is that even if the phone doesnt work you should still have a working pda.

i tried that and it didnt do anything at all. isnt that just where you hold the end key and the side camera key and stick the stylus into the hole?

Hold down the power button and the camera button at the same time until the tri colored bootloader comes up. If that works, try flashing the stock rom for your carrier.
If that doesn't work try the same steps with the memory card removed.
If that doesn't work try to do a hard reset and see if that will take you to the bootloader.
Also, what are the numbers in on the bootloader...are you sure your device is unlocked? I believe it should say... SPL-00.40.coke... on the 2nd line if your unlocked.
You shouldn't need to connect to activesync to reboot. After you run ImCokeMan's unlocker you should be unlocked until you run it again.
As I said in the last post, all you have to do to get to the boot loader is hold down the power and camera buttons at the same time. This will put the phone into the boot loader and you should be able to flash back to the stock rom and start over.
It kind of sounds like you relocked the phone and then tried to boot a custom rom.
sorry i wasnt saying i needed to connect to activesync to reboot, i was saying i needed to connect to activesync to flash, and it wouldnt boot up so i couldnt get to activesync.
and i did to imcokemans unlocker, and everything went fine. when i was setting up the device (ie. setting password, time zone, calibration, etc...) i just decided that i didnt need to finish that as i was intending on flashing a custom rom anyway, and so any settings i put up the time to set would be erased.
having said that, i went ahead and starting flashing a custom rom right from the wm welcome screen that you get on a first boot.
thanks a LOT for your help, promptness, and attention
So are you back up and running?
well, now i am. i just took a 30 min drive down to the sprint store and got a replacement :S
thanks a lot for your help though, im scared i may really need to refer back to this thread later. but if i do, at least i know i should be able to fix it!
thanks.
well, i just did it again. i must be doing something wrong in the cooking of my ROMs...about to try out your solution..hope it works!!
wish me luck :S :S :S :S
well i was able to re-flash, but, unfortunately, it is stuck in the same "htc smart mobility" screen again. i think i have been able to narrow it down to the oemizer app. i must be doing something wrong in there.
oemizer http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?p=100746&referrerid=10115
ill keep cooking and trying tonight until i find what it is the problem is i guess, thx for your help guys. especially you 360discgolf.
well, after cooking and flashing too many times to remember this late, all i can do is ask for help when you guys wake up and check this thread.
in the last couple of builds i havent been doing anything with oemizer at all and it still hasnt been working, and i dont think i am doing anything extra in buildos that i havent done before in successful ROM images...it seems sort of erratic.
any suggestions/hints/comments would be great, thanks a lot.
you can't just hold the two buttons and press the reset. You have to hold the two buttons at the same time, then while holding them, use the stylus to hold the reset until it restarts. If you just tap the reset button while hold, it doesn't work.

If you used the imcokemans unlocker a 2nd time, I believe you re-lock your phone.
You also mentioned that you tried to flash the ROM from the Welcome Screen. That certainly won't work. You have to be at the unlocked rainbow bootloader screen which will load when you run the RUU or when you press Power-Camera-Reset. If it doesn't go into bootloader then you've probably re-locked your phone.

[Q] Bricked phone after task29 and rom flashing

Hello. First I want to thank all of you who develop roms and the like. I have had such a blast over the past month and a half customizing my phone in ways I never thought possible. Last night I ran flashaholicruu.exe on my HTC HD2 Leo. The task29 seemed to work properly, however when I attempted to flash the rom I received errors. I tried Leo_Radio_2.11.50.26.sfx, which had previously worked on my phone. It stopped at 96%. I did the recovery, however the phone now will not even boot the splash screen. It simply vibrates non-stop when I turn it on until I remove the battery. Does anyone have ANY advice at all? Am I able to load a ROM onto the SD card and directly boot from it while my phone is in this state?
I have removed the battery and reinserted it. Did not work.
I have also tried pressing the volume buttons and the power on button to get the bootloader, but just vibrates in the same manner as when I press on button.
Please help!

Ahh. I wish. T-Mobile is giving me a hard time about replacing it because I was not the original owner of the phone. The phone is only about 3-4 months old though.
I had this happen to me.
Try to load it directly into bootloader by holding vol-down when you press power button, then flash another radio (i recommend 2.12.5) then try another ROM thru RUU.
Also, make sure your battery is place in there securely and that all 3 pins from the phone are sticking out.
I had a situation where one of the pins was sticking vertically and the battery was only hitting 2 (from doing too many battery pulls) and it did this weird vibrate splash screen boot sequence.

You'll need contact details for the original owner, but by law they have to honor the agreement they put in place with them, regardless of whether you are that person or not.
Just get back onto T-Mobile and if they say no then speak to someone higher up. I know this to be the case after selling a palm pre to someone at the beginning of the year and it died on him shortly after.

he needs to rename the .nbh file to LEOIMG.nbh and pair it with the RUU that came
with that same stock ROM
but then again, if he cant get into bootloader, the phone is definitely bricked

What exactly did you do to try and enter bootloader mode? You said you pressed the volume 'buttons' and the power button but that combination would initiate a Hard Reset and not bootloader mode..
How to get into your Bootloader
1. Turn your phone off
2. Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN then Press and hold the POWER button. After about 3 seconds the tri-coloured screen should appear.
3. To exit Bootloader you need to remove your back cover and pull the battery out for a few seconds, then replace it and press the power button to reboot your phone.
If you cannot get into the bootloader with the above instructions then it looks like you have bricked your device somehow but im not sure exactly how you could do it as task29 doesnt touch HardSPL.
If you can get into bootloader then you can flash a rom back to your device using the sd card method in my guide *HERE*.
Mark.

[Q] Stuck at bootloader at boot

Hi
A friend of mine has a HD2, never HSPL or anything and still running on 1.42 rom.... Now everytime it boots it goes straight into the bootloader. Since its never been messed around with I find it odd, seen it before with people with other phones. Would this just be a corrupted ROM and therefore it goes there, would if poss a stock rom flash be able to restore the phone, if that is not the case then a warranty return is still valid, but obv not wanted.
What do you think, will this work? I did search but everyone's posts come up with I task 29 and now stuck... etc and not from a stock bootloader as well!
Cheers any help will be appreciated, my first thing I will get him to try is a rom reflash but that will be tonight, I'll update on the progress then!
First thing I would check is if his volume button is stuck for some reason. Second would be to see if it detects a USB connection, then hard spl and new rom from that point. Keep us posted.

The post above me is correct check and make sure the volume down button is not stuck/Hung in the down position. If it is stuck in the down position like it is being held down at boot then this is the cause of it going straight to bootloader at boot up. If there is no problem with the volume down button then try a hard reset of the HD2. Warning this will reset your friends HD2 tolike it was fresh out the box so any photos, videos, documents, and etc that is not on the SD card they will lose. Also any contacts that are not backed up withan app like Microsoft My Phone will be lost. To do the reset while the HD2 is off bold the volume up and the volume down buttons down and press and bold the power button down. When you see the tri color screen come up release the volume and power buttons and follow the instructions on the screen (hint: you will want to press the vume up button). Now if after the Hard reset your friends HD2 still goes to bootloader at boot up then download and flash the stock ROM for their HD2 you can find it on HTC.com but make sure you varifiy that it is for their HD2 by entering the serial number of their HD2 you can find the serial number look under the battery. To flash the ROM let the HD2 boot up to the bootloader and then connect it to the computer via USB cable and wait for the Serial in the white bar of the boooader screen to change to USB and for your computer to show it recognize the pbone and then run the .exe or RUU wich everone the ROM has.
Never thought of the key being held done will try that first.
Also I won't HSPL'ing as its in warranty and a half HSPL'ed phone is well useless
OK so i feel like a bit of an idiot for this one. Turns out what I call a bootloader and he does is totally different. For me Its the tri-colour screen, for him its the red/orange windows boot screen. So it was all solved by a HR. Great..
Sorry for those who offered the advice but it really was not needed. but solid advice it was, you always can rely on help in here

Hi,
"Smart Mobility" screen
I had that problem too, and did a hard-reset.
Hold Volume Up + Volume Down buttons (hold hard) and press Power switch until you see the warning sign to confirm a hard reset.
The system will do a re-flash of the original Windows Mobile ROM.
Start Android by running HaRET from Windows Mobile
Yes, you have to run HaRET.
You can make it simpler by making a short-cut in Windows Mobile Start Menu.
Tap and hold on HaRET until you see the Dialog Box to Cut, Copy, etc.
Tap Copy.
Go to Device-Windows-StartMenu, paste as a shortcut
These steps are in the Touch HD Manual. If you do not have one, download it from the HTC website.

RUU_BlackStone_HTC_FIN_1.56.414.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.13.25.24_Ship
but those didint work. i will try today againe. and then if it going to work i will put that haret to start menu.
I'll try that 1.14 first...
flashed that 1.4 rom and waited about an hour and nothing happend... i jsut did hard reset and wait againe if it gonna boot now...
i was thinking that should i put custom rom, coz if something went wrong whit the official?
I mean if there is something wrong in phones hard drive? like something wrong whit registery or something?
something that wont let win start. if there is, how i can fix that?

GBX0C2.3.7 Build is on SD card.
You will need to boot from Windows Mobile first, then run HaRET to reboot to XDAndroid.
If XDAndroid hangs, you need to remove battery, put back battery and power on. Then you see Windows Mobile and do above step again.
Always, from XDAndroid to go back to Windows, you need to Power Off, and then Power On again.

You say you are flashing the original ROM. You mean the original HTC Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM? I understand you can only get this done only from HTC authorized centers.

I have
This
RUU_BlackStone_HTC_FIN_1.14.414.2_Radio_52.49a.25.26_1.09.25.14_Ship
And this.

U have to install HTC USB Sync Drivers drivers
Put the phone into bootloader by pressing volume down + power button
plug the usb cable to the computer/laptop
and then run the shipped rom executable file... when the tricolor screen displays USB at the bottom.
else extract the RUU_signed.nbh or any file with .nbh extension from the shipped file with zip viewers like 7-zip
rename the file to BLACIMG.nbh
Put into the root of memory card
put the phone into bootloader and follow the screen instructions..
And the most important thing... search the forum.. before posting..
Hope this works for you
Hi there! I think that you can't reflash even a Original ROM without unlock the phone with new Hard-SPL from Olinex ,considering that you have tried a Hard Reset and nothing happened ,your last option is to unlock the phone and reflash the ship ROM ,or to flash a custom ROM ( is not a good solution if you still have warranty, but still you cand revert your stock SPL:good so ,you have nothing else to lose , all is left for you is to try what i said before . If you don't know how to do it,let me know and i will post the exact links to instructions.
Hi all,
You can try a NAND ROM like the new release of Fagyi. There is an easy step by step manual to installation. You will lose winmo, but you will have a real android.
It looks pretty and he has solved many of the issues of previous versions.

You need to understand what you are going to do or you may end up with a phone that does not work anymore.
Do a search of the forum and read the posts. There are so many.
