The second mini-competition in the Ericsson application awards is now starting and the prizes just got bigger and better!
Submit your members applications to Stage 2 at latest December 9 at 11.59 PM (GMT -08:00, Pacific Time)!
Ericcson, half of Sony Ericcson has announced that they are holding the Ericcson’s Application Awards, Code for Cash 2011 development contest.
The contest, which has a pot of $15,00 euro or around $20,000 American dollars, is open to any team of two or more developers anywhere in the world. The developers must use at least one Ericcson labs API and relate to the theme “Connected Thing”. Members from the full team of Sony Ericcson will help judge the contest.
The contest is in it’s second year. Last year a development team from Ireland won with an application they called “CallerProfiler”. CallerProfiler combined social networking with IP Telephony to display information from social networking sites when a call is received.
The deadline for entries is March 31, 2011 and the winners will be announced in June 2011, and again it’s open to developer teams of 2 or more anywhere in the world. For complete details, and information on how to get the Erricson Labs API kit go to http://www.ericssonapplicationawards.com for more details

So get coding Folks
Dear all, especially to Xperia SP owners,
I am (We are) starting this thread to find support from users to get a device for a recognised developer, kernel guru; DooMLoRD. Contribution are used solely for this purpose; getting hardware to improve and extend support for Xperia SP M35H; such as kernel development, root, recovery or others.
This thread is also a continuation from Facebook Group SONY XPERIA SP : Development and Discussion
The discussed topic read as the following:
so a few users on XDA approached me if I would be working on DooMKernel for the Xperia SP...
just to be clear the Xperia SP has a different board (viskan){msm8960t} compared to the rest of the devices which i have:
fusion3 - apq8064 -> Z [ZL, Tab Z]
blue - msm8960 -> T [V, TX]
fuji - msm8660 -> S [SL, Ion, Acro S]
I dont have the devices in [] brackets but they have same board as the one I have and hence it becomes easier to support them..
since this device is different than the ones I have, unless I have device with me to do testing I cannot support it...
so this is what I want to know... would the Xperia SP user community here be willing to donate a device to me for working on it?
regards,
DooMLoRD

M in for it....
i m in! but where to donate??
you could pm Doomlord directly
I would like to put the details here but i am afraid that's against the forum rules
Was just browsing around in the forums and I saw this. Bounty threads are allowed, but those who are higher up look down upon them. Also, it'll be more encouraging if Doomlord himself posts in this thread and agreeing what is said. It makes others feel more confident.

Thanks Doomlord and hasoon2000.
I must admit that I am relatively new here and has no reputation at all. However I've discussed with several users including Doomlord himself to start a thread for this purpose. I believe Doomlord himself has a reason not to start this thread by himself. This will show that this
thread is genuinely from the users that need support for their device (Xperia SP).
To kickstart, I am willing to fund 10% of the cost of the device.
So I'll put a list for funder/donator in the main post so that everyone can see the progress of this project.
Small contribution is not a problem!
I am in!

No worries. Just wanted to give you my input on it since I've seen quite a few of these before. Also, I'll pitch in $5. Just PM me when the number has been reached and I'll send it his way.
I can personally vouch for Doomlord since I used to use his recoveries in my early days of the toolkits I make! Great guy and great dev!
Many thanks hasoon2000!
I'm willing to donate $5 for the cause. PM me when the number has been reached and I'll send it.
I will buy XSP soon. So I am contributing $10 to this cause
Count me in too. But I don't know why both of the recognised developers for Sony : DoomLord and Rachit left the Facebook group.
i can donate $10 but don't know how to pay via HDFC debit card or internet banking.

Hi there,
this is a thread for the HADK. Here you will find the official release notes from jolla for the HADK and maybe general discussion about it. So have fun and lets take the porting adventure to somewhere we can't imagine!
IMPORTANT:
The Images you will build with HADK are under the EULA of Sailfish OS. Please explain to interested users that this is not production quality (you know the watermark) to prevent misunderstandings in functional behaviour!!!

Betreff:The first Sailfish OS Hardware Adaptation Development Kit (HADK) Release (EA1)
Datum:July 18, 2014 15:48
Dear early adopter of Sailfish OS for Android devices. This is important
- read this whole mail through and follow all steps exactly as written.
IMPORTANT: If you choose to publish this mail through blogs, news sites,
forums, or others, quote it as-is and in complete form ONLY, or people's
devices may be at risk.
We are extremely happy to release the EA1 version of the Sailfish OS
Hardware Adaptation Development Kit (HADK), which describes how to port
Sailfish OS to existing devices based on CyanogenMod 10.1.
CM version 11.0 and AOSP versions will be supported eventually (and you
can help to make this happen faster!)
Note that Sailfish OS images yielding from this documentation are likely
to be under Sailfish OS EULA.
We are excited to welcome you all to this adventurous porting journey.
We want to build a community around Sailfish OS for Android devices that
is based on mutual trust and respect for what we are all doing. Hence --
we ask that whenever you do screenshots, videos, forum or blog posts or
the like (and we're happy if you do!), you emphasise that this is an
work-in-progress effort and not a productised release. It is important
for Jolla that correct expectations are set for those who might be users
of the final product -- and that they understand what they see is not a
released product
Read through other notes in previous Nexus 4 EA image release emails, as
they are all relevant (cached:

HADK manual can be downloaded from (yes, you finally reached the
essential part of this announcement ) :

We will all meet in the support channel called #sailfishos-porters on
irc.freenode.net and please use us (thp, alterego, Stskeeps, lbt,
sledges) to work together, report any bugs, graphical glitches or
missing functionality that you find, which are not included in the
release notes above. You can also find the hardware adaptation source

Release Notes/Known Issues in HADK v1.0.1-EA1:
- Resulting HADK image for any device will not have Jolla Store support
(whereas as official Nexus 4 >=EA3 images by Jolla have). We are working
on Jolla Store integration into HADK (aiming for Nexus 4 as very first)
Will be fixed in the next release of HADK:
- HADK PDF has line-wrapping issues in pages 16, 19.
- PDF readers which can copy out-of-bound text: okular, Firefox PDF
viewer. Readers which cannot: evince, epdfview, mupdf
- PDF contains no table of contents
- Page 9: single quotes should be used to avoid early variable
evaluation for '[insert value of your choosing]' and
'$MER_ROOT/android/droid'

porting news updated. Guys be happy about whats ongoing since hadk was released. Have a great day!
This is really great, I've been waiting a long time for it to be available, documentation prior to that on libhybris and other components were pretty scarce before.
I'm really happy that Jolla is really contributing back to the community.

If I will have let's say an almost working port of sailfish on a phone generally, will I be able to have a working port of nemo mobile as well?? ;D

Sailfish in many ways is a layer on top of Nemo, so yes

Great good news!!!!!
I wonder, would anyone (ever) work on enabling Barometer on Mako??? I mean, even Android snubs that sensor. I'm one of the very few I can find on any forum who cares about Barometer as I'm a bit of a weather geek.

Reading on later in the logs it looks like they are going to take the camera work from Ubuntu phone and use it. But then later after that it is mentioned that someone named netchip is doing it directly using hal. Getting confused about who is doing what with which phone model.
Anyways just posted by Nokius https://twitter.com/Nokius/status/493465722446970880

Camera implementation strategy is not yet set in stone, so confusion is normal, please bear with us
Could anyone help with finding a barometer on board? I believe it would be just some linuxy manifestation of a sensor under sysfs, probably could be abstracted by libhybris like other sensors?
Thanks!
