Hello XDA, I have just rooted my Nexus 4 and would like to install PA 3.68. I just have a few questions.
- How's the battery life with the stock kernel on moderate use?
- Is it a reliable rom?
- I am coming from stock rom do I still have do do a factory reset?
- I have done a NANDroid backup with Teamwin recovery to get back to the stock rom can I just restore the backup?
- More of a question with Teamwin recovery, does the backup option also backup the kernel?
Thank You.

And your problem with that is.....?
To OP.....another useful thing to be aware of are the ezbase roms, which are essentially stock deodexed roms with root, these may be found in Dev section

Just to clarify...a nandroid backup is a complete system image created when you hit the backup button in cwm recovery (a bit like windows restore to a previous working state)

Please forgive the noobish question..this is my 1st android product and I am still learning...
I am currently using Task650's rom version 5 along with the current pershoot kernal....If I want to move to Version 6
1. do i only wipe the delvrik cache, then flash version 6?
2. do I need to reflash the kernal after flashing version 6
3. what is the easiest way to backup all my apps if i have to wipe everything and then put them back?
i am using a rooted 10.6 wifi only...just really trying to get the hang of if there is an order to flashing roms and kernals like if i install a new rom or even update if i have to reflash kernal and reset setcpu?..thanks in advance.
Please Anyone... I really wanna do this...

1. Most scripts wipe dalvik cache when install or upgrading a ROM. Check with rom author if your not sure. With V. 6 from V. 5 its not necessary.
2. Yes, V. 6 will flash stock kernel. Unless noted in original post from ROM creator, custom ROMs "generally" have stock kernel. Other forums this is not true. You will need to setup SetCPU again after flashing.
3. Titanium Backup, it's a very powerful tool for backing up data apps. Rule of thumb, DO NOT backup and restore system apps, you can put your device in a bootloop or other bad things like applications that force close all the time.

Just a FYI: no need to boot the rom first though. Flash ROM, directly flash Kernel and then boot up. Good luck!

I've seen it recommended to reboot between the ROM install and kernel install. Though I can't say that there is harm that I am aware of.
for #1, task650 said: "You only need to wipe dalvich and cache to upgrade from V5"
for #2, havent tried to flash the kernel yet but will give a shoot asap
Any advice how to do it is more welcomed
for #3, titanium backup ftw
I have a Galaxy s4 4.2.2 touchwiz rooted.
I want to backup and install Slimbean 4.3
And if I need, restore to my touchwiz.
Is it possible? Can someone help me or giving the link to the guide?
Is it a good idea to move from touchwiz to Slimbean ?
Thanks

well from my experience with rooting, although i failed to flash slimbean 4.3 on my i9500, i did do a complete wipe and all, so when i restored my backup it came back to the stock i had before.
so basiclly i think that if you do a wipe -> flash slimbean and don't like it you could always do a wipe -> restore your backup...but take me for granted i'm no expert in this
@maoroh
How do you backup & restore? With clockworkmod?

I used the feature in cwm and it worked for me, slimbean doesn't support the i9500, only the i9505 and the US variants atm
I have a tf300t tablet and was going to flash the PAC rom to my device. My question is, do I need the latest twrp (2.6.3) to do this? I have twrp 2.5.0 installed currently with cromi xenogenesis rom. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I am a real NOOB at this Android OS, but learning a little every day.
Figured it out with the help of kd8bny

I could not back up my pad with the twrp 2.6.3.0, so I reinstalled twrp 2.5.0.0 and made a backup (it worked), then installed twrp 2.6.3.0 and then installed the pacman rom. Thanks to, kd8bny for getting me through it. Btw, the rom is great.
I have a Galaxy S Advance and was going to flash the PAC rom to my device. My question is , do can Work with CWM 6 without TWRM?
Thanks

What happened when you tried?
I made a Backup of the Stock Rom on my TF201 before installing PAC, however after restoring it, it did not boot.
Changing back to PAC worked, however.
TWRP 2.6.3.3, I think.

Wipe dalvik, cache, system and data. Then restore your backup. Should be good[emoji51]
