Att,verizon, and t mobile all making it possible to upgrade every 6 months or with verizon I believe its a year, any one herd of any news of sprint doing this? I would love that, because phones do need a upgrade every 3-6 months, I would definitely be willing to pay an extra 10 or 15$ to be able to do this

I just wish Sprint would bring back their BTA (bill to account) option. I don't mind paying full price for a phone if I have a month or two in which to pay it and with the BTA feature, if I scheduled a purchase just right (day after a new billing cycle started) I had two billing periods before it was due.
I'm not sure Sprint will go down the early upgrade road since they've taken the unprecedented step of offering the unlimited data forever plans but time will tell.
being a former sprint rep, they do have an early upgrade program but it's a little bit different. So basically your upgrade or discounted pricing is in exchange for 2 year contract. Phones normally MSRP from 450-650 for the smartphones. So what sprint does occasionally and it's based purely on the account, as well as payment history, tenure, and other factors (from what I've been told), they have an upgrade now offer. Instead of having to pay the full MSRP on the device, you would have an upgrade now amount that could range from 50 bucks to 275. The way that the program works is that you would pay that upgrade now amount and by doing so it would get you to your upgrade pricing. It is NOT buying out your contract. Simply means you are upgrade eligible. So say you have a 50 dollar upgrade now and you wanted to get the GS4 which retails at 249.99 before the 50.00 mail in rebate (which would bring it to 199.99), you would basically be paying the 249.99 for the device, and then an additional 50 bucks which is your upgrade now offer bringing the OTD price to 299.99 before tax, but you still get the 50 dollar mail in rebate. Another thing about the program, I would not be an MOD EDIT to the rep about this program too, because company policy says that this is supposed to be a one time offer, and if you do not accept it, we are "technically" supposed to click a little box that says decline offer, and then you just have to wait til your normal upgrade time. At least in my store we don't normally do that, unless the customer is irate or gets escalated, we leave it on there for the customer. Also, sometimes the upgrade now ill drop as it gets closer to your 20-month upgrade date, but sometimes it will not. Also, at least in corporate stores, we have to do everything in the same transaction, so you cannot pay the 50 bucks, then run to best buy and get the phone for cheaper. People have gotten fired for that, and our DM highly emphasizes this. Another thing you can do is cross upgrade, which means using someone elses upgrade, so if you have someone on the same account and want to use their upgrade if you know they don't plan on upgrading for a while, or even someone on a different account, then you can use their upgrades. one thing to note though when cross-upgrading, you WILL lose your mail in rebate. Hope that helps!

And you can BTA still, however you can only do accessories on consumer accounts. If you have a business, you can BTA devices and accessories. So if you have a Tax ID or self employed, by all means, GET A BUSINESS ACCOUNT! lol

Kinda/sorta related to this is something we learned a few weeks ago: Sprint apparently offers the ability to "gift" an upgrade... I'm not sure I got the explanation exactly right, but basically it looks like if you're eligible for an upgrade, but someone else on your account isn't, you can give them your upgrade at any time.
In addition, we learned another nifty "trick"... if you have multiple lines on your account with different contract dates, you can, if the dates work out, in a sense upgrade both phones each year! Here's how it works...
This year, my wife and I had SGS3's, my two kids had some old Nexus'... we went in to the local Sprint store and upgraded my kids' phones to the SGS4, since they were eligible... but my wife and I were not for another year... we couldn't very well have our kids having better phones then us of course, so at the same time we had them swap our SGS3's with their new SGS4's... just literally change the lines on all four phones. Me and the wife got the SGS4's, the kids the SGS3's. As it turns out, the kids were SUPPOSED to have had the SGS4's for 30 days before they did the swap, that's apparently the rule, 30 days before you can do a line swap... but they let it go this time anyway since we had previously been told we could do the swap the same day but the waiting period wasn't mentioned.
Eh, whatever, the bottom line is that every year we can go in and effectively upgrade ALL FOUR phones... the kids will always get the hand-me-down's and be a cycle behind the latest models, but hell, an SGS3 is nothing to balk at today, and they'll be very happy with the SGS4's next year. If your contract dates are far enough apart like ours then you can do this too (if one person doesn't mind being one generation behind too). It's not illegal or against the rules at all

That's funny. I got my SGS4 by adding a new line to my account and swapped the SGS4 on the new line with my SGS3 on my current line the night I got the phone. It's the only time I've done it so I don't know if the dude just didn't care or didn't know. Also...much like you, By the time the next Galaxy comes out either my line or my 2nd line will have an upgrade I'll be able to use. It's a nice system.

Ok I am one of the ones who copped the Hero back in October and don't have an upgrade until October 2010. But I want the EVO but definately don't want to pay $450 for it. Well I thought of every way possible to come into getting it but nothing would really benefit me. So as a last ditch effort I just decided to go to the sprint chat and take a chance. I am in no way saying this will work for anyone else/everyone else but just sharing what I did. (BTW I have been with sprint over 10 years)
Basically after getting on the chat, I pretty much laid out my case about how I don't understand why loyal customers like myself who for years have been loyal to sprint can't get in on the promotions, when new customers can reap all the benefits. I even provided numbers on the approx amount I have invested in sprint over the years, and I could tell the person agreed with my position because he really didn't have a response. I could see him start typing something atleast 5 times, then he would delete it or something but he never responded. After about 5 mins, he says one moment. Looks up my info and says well as a sign of goodwill I can give you $150 off the price and you can get it for $300. So he makes a note on my account and all I have to do it order it June 4th or whenever sprint starts taking orders and get it overnighted.
So I didn't end up with the $199 promotion but I did end up with something, and I still keep my upgrade in October. Just wanted to share in case anyone else was in my situation. HAPPY EVO HUNTING!!!!

Yeah I been with them since they were just nextel. My first phone was the i-60 (I think thats what it was called). That dumb brick looking phone with the direct connect, lol.
That's the way to do it! I have been with Sprint since 2000 and have been a VERY loyal customer. Word on the street is that Sprint is hemorrhaging customers, so they have to do what they can to keep them.
If you talk with customer support and try to reason with them, they will be pretty helpful. You basically tell them that it's much more expensive and difficult to get a new customer than to keep an old one (this is taught in all marketing classes). If you talk to enough people and get high up in the chain (managers, etc), it will all work out.
I've been with Sprint for 8 years, so maybe I will hit up the chat and work for some pity.
Bypass all the low tier level CS an go straight to the top-Sprint Corporate. These guys have the power to do anything and everything to your account and super fast.
If you been with sprint more than 8 years they will work something out for you.
In my case in 5 minutes time I got my account reset for full upgrade path and qualify for rebate on the EVO.
My cost EVP Preorder:
449.00
-150.00 Upgrade
-100.00 rebate
Total:
$199.99
In Sprint Corporate they do believe loyalty should be rewarded.

Bro I'm willing to bet that when you get the Evo you will renew your contract.
Even if he renews his contract, I don't think that he will really be upset about it unless he planned on leaving Sprint.

I am using sprint only for half year. So I don't need to try any way. I just pay the full price or wait for Dec this year to get 75 off. I think I'll get the phone in full price, then sold my Hero, after Dec I can get another phone then sell it.
Well turns out my brother in law is eligible for an upgrade and he said that he would do it for me in exchange he wants my Hero; no cash (i already gave him my HTC Touch for free). Anyway, I went to the sprint site and they changed the way you can activate a phone from the last time I used it (a long time ago). now you can swap phones with one that is already on your account online. I was going to swap phones with my brother in law online but I see that we can't do that now. May have to go to sprint store to do this.
has anyone swapped phones with another account holder? did you have any problems doing it?

I called a Sprint rep just 10 minutes ago and they said this is do-able
I'm happy for you that you got 150 off your EVO, but you weren't getting screwed. You already took advantage of the new customer pricing in october when you bought the Hero.
Again, I'm glad Sprint rewarded you for being a loyal customer, but people shouldn't come to this thread and get your hopes up. It's probably not going to happen for most of you.

Its your opinion, but i wasn't a new customer in October either. Think about it. I have been on one of the high end plans over 10 years. So I have been consistently investing in sprint for a while now. So anyone who reaps the benefit of the EVO coming from some other carrier or new to sprint is getting it for $199. They haven't invested a dime yet, but they reap the benefit now. Thats just how I feel. They didn't have to give it to me, i wasn't gonna leave sprint, but IMO its people like me who keep this company afloat and its also people like me who are often ignored because we have already signed a contract so no incentive to please us anymore. Not very good business but I understand thats how it goes.
Just keep in mind that if you swap with him before 30 days he will no longer be eligible for the $100 MIR.

My wife went from the Iphone 3G to the Focus about 2 or so weeks back.... a few days after the new windows phones were released. I myself have a tilt 2 but was ready for an upgrade. We went in to look at the new phones and at that time they didnt know about the BOGO offer that was coming up for Black friday (and presumably running through out the holidays). She went ahead and got her phone. Today we went in and asked if we could still get the free phone. As she was still in the 30 day grace period we figured it wouldn't be an issue. Sure enough.... a quick call to the manager and I had the phone in my hand. The only extra I paid for was the Zag Shield.
I'm not sure WHAT had to be done to get it. Whether you needed to add another line etc but since we already had 4 lines on our family plan we had decided to add my mom on for her Christmas. We told him we wanted to add a new line as well although he didnt actually tie the new Focus to that new line, and it didnt get tied to my number yet either. I'm not sure but I do think you need to start a new line (which luckily enough we already planned on doing) to get the BOBO deal with AT&T. He seemed to imply I could get it for free too by using my upgrade status which was also open from the original purchase of the Fuze 2 years ago.
I figure if in the new year they release some newer cooler phones (ie one with the same size screen but has a keyboard) I'll use my upgrade for that and sell the Focus off.
So anyone who did get their focus (or any other windows phone for that matter) early and wants to go in to get their free phone go and and schmooze and you'll be walking out with the second phone in your hand!
Good Luck!

confirmed by an att rep.... if youre within the 30 day period and are eligible or you add a line, they will restock your phone and resell it to you and you get the new one... just a restock fee, but well worth the free phone.... did mine this eve, took 10 min to get it done... good deal on a solid set of phones...
Good for you guys!!
I'm stuck so no deals for me since I'm not in the upgrade timeframe. Unless someone wants to sell thier free Focus for a nice holiday discount?
I had bought 2 focuses (foci?) at 2 seperate ATT stores about a week apart from each other. I went to one store and got the money credited back to my credit card. I then received a call from the second store and they told me they would credit the account the amount of one of the phones since they noticed I had bought 2 phones within a week of each other.
If someone wants to sell the one he got for free at a fair price, please let me know

That's fairly similar as to how I got my fuze... they had some promo going on and they had a programming glitch where you could put the coupon on multiple times... which I did. I got that phone for free. A year later when I got my tilt 2 my wife got it for 100 dollars upfront and then AT&T sent me a $50.00 visa gift card, so really the phone was 50 dollars. HTC at the time had this promo where they would accept ANY smart phone trade in when you bought a tilt 2 and they'd pay you 100 dollars. I sent in my HTC Vouge and they gave me 100 dollars... so really I got paid 50 dollars for getting a new phone.
Then once this promo came along, well suffice to say my wife just rolled her eyes... yet another free phone
Does this only work if you purchased it at a real AT&T store? I bought my focus at a 'CellularWorld' about 15 days ago.

I am just guessing that you cant get another one for free if you purchased it off contract...IS it only with a new line or contract to get the free phone?
I've contacted AT&T about this. You MUST get a new line OR upgrade an existing line that is eligible for upgrade. Since I want to give the free phone to my dad, they did say 2 things that kept my interest though:
they can be flexible on 'eligibility'
I can transfer the phone to my dad's account, as long as he's eligible and an existing AT&T subscriber
One other thing - gotta do it within the 30 day grace period.
How much each store follows these rules, of course, would depend on the store

Correct. Two-year contract and data plan are required on both lines. AT&T makes minimum $600 ($15 data + $10 add a line = $25/mo minimum) over two year period off you per phone. That's how they can afford to give you one for free.
I'm planning to upgrade my phone n get me a Focus, since it's BOGO deal right now. I'm wondering if this plan will work or not. Currently Im in a family plan and my dad is able to upgrade his phone too and planing to give the 2nd phone to him. however, since he's a tech noob im going to go head take the phone, but cancel his data plan so he can use his old phone. Then just sell the 2nd phone. do you think AT&T will allow me to do this, since my dad would not use the Focus.
My sister had done this before, she got an iPhone n hate it. So she use her old phone, canceled the data plan and sell her iphone on eBay.

I didn't even have to go through that much hassle. I told them I'd bought the first one in the last 30 days and they gave me a second one for free. They did charge an $18 upgrade fee on the line I upgraded but they didn't make me go through any "resell" or "restock" ordeal. They just put in a promo code for it and gave it to me.
Amazon is selling the phones for $.01 with a 2 yr plan.
For 2 qualified plans, that's a whopping $.02. Just a tad better than AT&T's BOGO deal.

Take a look at the fine print for things like the early termination fee. Don't fool yourself into thinking that Amazon is only making $.01 on the phone.
yep not only do you get dinged with an early termination fee from ATT but one from Amazon as well... I think Amazon's is bigger then ATT's actually. Not to mention I believe you only get that on new lines.... not ones you are adding onto an existing family plan. I could be wrong here.
I got an email today From: "Sprint" <[email protected]>. I thought the notes were something we all want to see. The bold part is what i find the most interesting.
"May require up to a $36 activation fee/line, credit approval and deposit. Up to $200 early termination fee/line applies. Phone Offer: Offer ends 6/4/11. While supplies last. $299.99 (two-year price) -$100 (instant rebate) = $199.99 (final price). Taxes and service charges excluded.. No cash back. Requires activation at the time of purchase. Upgrade: Existing customers in good standing with service on the same device for more than 22 consecutive months currently activated on a service plan of $39.99 or higher may be eligible. See in-store rebate form or sprint.com/upgrade for details. Sprint Premier Upgrade: Eligible customers with service on the same device for more than 12 consecutive months may be eligible for $150 instant savings with a renewed 2-year Agreement. Valid only on the eligible primary line with a 3-month consecutive average of $69.99 on a single line or $99.99 on a shared line. The upgrade fee is waived using a service credit that applies to the bill within 2 to 3 bill cycles of the upgrade. Other Terms: Coverage not available everywhere. Sprint 4G network reaches over 70 markets and counting, on select devices. Sprint 3G network reaches over 271 million people. See sprint.com for details. If i read this correctly, as soon as our evos turn 1 year old (assuming you bought on release) you will be eligible for an $150 off upgrade. We all pay $69.99 anyway.

Yes, I did read it and I know it says $69.99. I am saying that the e-mail is wrong and the program changed on April 1.
You can believe that e-mail all you want but it isn't correct.
I think thats his point. Yes the program has changed, but he still got this email.
He wouldn't have made this post otherwise.
I wonder if he could use this to his advantage, probably bit but it would be cool

Well, I still have a $150 discount on all 4 lines (3 evos/1 airave), so I'm not going to complain, except about their ****ty ass 3G speeds!

Can you actually use the airave upgrade though?
They'll just say someone had an incorrect file added to the reply they sent etc. I think you might be able to sweet talk your way into it for this year at least. 2 friends from work went to the local 3rd Party Sprint dealer they like and he was going to reset the upgrade dates for them. I don't know what he does or how he did it, but he did for her cousin/relative earlier that week. I think she said he had a heat ticket created for them both.

You're not supposed to be able to, but people ahve done it. A few peeps on Sprintusers changed that to their primary line once it had a year showing on their account and upgraded phones. Then immediately switched the AirRave back to that line when they got home. I don't know of they have closed this loophole or not, it's not supposed to work that way.

Wirefly shows it as eligible for an upgrade haha.. sort of tempting.
Well it's funny because as soon as they added the Airave line to my account it was eligible.
Hmm, if I can use the $150 upgrade discount on the airave, I'm going too! They won't do crap for me about their 3G speeds. They just say: Okay ...to everything I saw. Mindless robots, I think.
Hmm, Amazon Wireless is saying that the airave line is good for a discount...
Like I said it works and people have done it. But it's not normal protocol, I dunno if they would do anything about it though?
I've successfully used the Airave to grab an Epic last year for my wife. Looked on the web page when it was done and saw that I didn't have an upgrade available for the Airave so I knew it worked.
The funny thing was, in the process of reverting the #s back, Sprint accidentally canceled my Airave rather than switch it. When they put the Airave back onto my account, they reset the upgrade status so it said get $150 off the new phone again.
I'm premier gold now anyways so no problems getting the yearly upgrade but now I have three with me, my wife, and the Airave.
best bet is to keep your evo nice and shiny, sell it on ebay and pay retail for your new phone, im assuming evo 3D. worst case it costs your $100 or so but you dont have to sign a new contract.

How did you go about using the upgrade on your airave line?
My mom recently washed hers and the best option is to just pay retail for one, but if I can use the airave $150, I'll do that for her; our 3 lines still have $150 discounts.
So, if I use the airave line/$150, the contract reups and starts at 2 years again, right? Then...when we use the $150 discounts on the 3 evo lines when the evo 3D comes out, the contract will reup and start at 2 years again, right?

I just walked into Best Buy and told them I wanted to use my Airave number. The reason I did this was when I bought the Evo, I heard the workers saying that yes it was possible to some other customers and that they've done it.
Now, I then headed to a third party Sprint store to had them switch #s back on the same day. The crux of the situation was that you had to wait at least 24 hours to switch back. Well, since my wife had work calls, I tried and do it that same day and it kinda sorta worked out. That was when they cancelled my Airave instead of switching it Weird thing was my Airave still worked for the next few weeks. It was when it stopped working and I saw a $150 extra charge that I called and asked why I had this charge and why the Airave didn't work. They said cause I called and cancelled it and I'm like no, I don't want to cancel I want to switch.
Yes, I think it renews the 2 year agreement of the Airave cause when I did it and went to the website, it didn't have the upgrade a phone for $150.. now it does cause of Sprint's little snafu but I don't need to use it for a while since I have 2 other upgrades
Yes all contracts renew to 2 years if you opt for the full discount.
So I went on My Verizon account a few minutes ago to pay my bill and this is what it says next to the picture of my phone:
"Eligible for a Discount!"
"You ARE eligible to upgrade with discounted pricing. If you upgrade on or after 5/18/12 you are eligible to receive an additional loyalty discount."
And I clicked that and went to the page that shows available phones and pricing and it's showing 2-yr contract prices e.g. iPhone4 16GB new 199.99 and Droid Charge new 249.99. I thought it was an error and I clicked the Droid Charge and followed through up to payment and the total for the phone was 249.99 plus tax and activation. Obviously I didn't follow through because if I were to get a new phone it would be the Nexus Prime =D.
Last time I went to checked out phones it said I was not currently eligible for an upgrade and showed off-contract pricing. Is anyone else's account showing this? It has thrown me off a little bit.
Update 10/8:
Went to talk to a rep today and the main line on a contract gets to upgrade after 12 months. The pricing is based on a new 2-year commitment plus $20. Early upgrades can only be done at Verizon retail stores and online. Nexus Prime, here I come.
I saw the early upgrade as well.
I am not receiving the same treatment

I got an email from the with the early upgrade. I guess they want to add an additional 2 years to our contract. If you keep upgrading every chance you get, pretty soon, you've going to be locked into a 4 year contract making it almost impossible to leave.

How can they do that? By signing a new 2-year agreement the old agreement is invalid. That means that your contract expires 2 years after you sign the new agreement but not the 2 years plus the extra time left on the current contract.
The main line can actually upgrade once a year. But I at lower discounted price that 18 mths.

The prices is it showing me are prices I would pay at 18 months e.g. iPhone 4 16GB new 199.99 and Droid Charge new 249.99. These are fully discounted prices not partially discounted. Also, I thought Verizon did away with annual upgrades even for the main line?
Verizon did get rid of annual upgrades, but only earlier this year. If you signed a contract before they took the annual upgrade away then you are still grandfathered in.

Because they are some shiesty bastards lol. I called enough times and complained about my droid eris being laggy and not having enough ram to run the system let alone any added apps. I told them the only way to get it to run right is to flash a new rom, but that would void my warranty. Agent said he would let me chose any new device for free other than the thunderbolt(which was just released at the time)... So I had them send me a new fascinate and got to keep my eris, don't ask me how or why but they did it. About a week later when I went to log on my vzw account to pay bill I seen my contract was extended one year(on top of the 2yr I agreed to on the eris 6mo prior) without even telling me!! I didnt get too upset because they sent me a brand new fassy for free. My point is: Vzw wireless policy depends on the region of the country your call got directed to... I have been told so many different policies on what they can and cant do, you would think your talking to a completely different company. Vzw is the like the damn weather man, the forecast changes everyday!!!
Signing a new contract does not necessarily void a previous one unless it explicitly states so. Ever notice you sign a two year contract but they let you upgrade after 18 months.
2 reasons..1. they want as many people to update prior to the new 4th quarter phones come out. that way people will have used their upgrade discounts and pay a higher price for the latest phone.
2. they want to jack the revenues for the 4th quarter where vast majority of pure profit is made (think black friday).

This is false...if you upgrade from 3g smartphone to 4g smartphone you keep unlimited data long as you had it before the tired plans went into effect. I called about it and went on the website to check. It would let me upgrade to lte and keep the same unlimited data just had to pay retail since im under contract right now.

Yea like I said I went through the entire process up to payment. It offered me the $30 2GB plan and my old Unlimited $29.99 plan. Obviously I would choose the latter. Only if this evasive Nexus Prime gets launched soon...
called vzn last week about the missed calls and not getting text or pic messaging and the tech i talked to said the problem is known and that vzn was allowing early upgrades plus an extra $50 off if you have a fascinate. told her that was nice but i shouldnt have to pay for a new phone since mine was less than a year old. still waiting for the second tech to call me back. not sure what they are going to offer as a replacement phone yet but it had better be good.
If you have the unlimited data plan, make sure they do not rope you in on their new data plans. When my Fascinate got replaced, the reps at the VZW store also changed my data plan as well. I was furious when I found that out, and they refused to fix it.
Called the VZW customer support, I explained the whole ordeal and they fixed my data plan back to unlimited. Just be cautious when you try to upgrade, make sure you'll get that unlimited data plan (disregard this post if you entered Verizon with the new data plans )

Hey guys, I've been thinking about canceling my Jump! service, I just do not see the benefit beside protecting you device. I just want to see who have it, and why you want to keep it. Or those that do not have it and why you didn't bother signing up.
I have it and my carrier insurance actually dropped 2 dollars a month so I figured, why not? I do like it though. Out allows me to continually get new phones. I tend to get board with a phone to a degree after a year or so. For me it's pretty good. You just have to get over the fact if you keep jumping, you'll never really own a phone. Sort of leasing a phone.
Merry Christmas
I'm very fortunate to have the opportunity to switch to a new phone every year, so I thought JUMP! makes sense. The insurance and Lookout Premium is a nice addition.
I been paying into jump for me and my wife since it started. Just upgraded both of us 2 weeks ago to two note 4's. In 6 months Samsung will have new phones with Playstation Now. I saw an aluminum billet cut out of a new Samsung phone, kinda curious to see what the final product looks like and how the Playstation Now runs on it. If I like I will wait for unboxing youtube video and maybe I jump.
Sent from my SM-T800 using XDA Premium HD
I use mine for insurance purposes only, I end up buying phones every 4 months or so, so basically the upgrading isn't worth doing for me, plus its a waste money to lease a phone and not pay it off imo.
It all depends and it's all in the numbers. It's a number game. If you have it only for insurance, do keep in mind that there's a deductible. For a high end phone like the Note 4, it's like $175 or something. If you're using it to upgrade, make sure your phones not almost paid off or it won't be worth it lol. Or if you're required to put down a big deposit, jump isn't worth it. Do the math. Crunch the numbers...
Well I have the first JUMP package that was released (grandfathered in). I love it because it lets me upgrade every 6 months. I get bored of devices pretty quick, especially with all of the devices that get released. Best thing to ever happen to a carrier.
Sent from a potato.
I also have the first JUMP package. It's pretty great deal.
If u have jump 1 keep it if you have jump 2 get rid of it. Not worth it for 2 if you swap out phones a lot
BAD ASS NOTE 4
Can you please elaborate. I felt the Jump 2 was just an enhanced version of Jump 1 (Jump 2 just allows you to upgrade whenever you want). Jump 1 allows maximum 2 upgrade a year.
I feel the Jump is worth it if you are upgrading your devices every 6 months, based on my rough calculations.

If you are on payment plans you must pay off device by 50% if you wanna jump. With jump 1 it 6 months no matter how much you owe.

Wow, T-Mobile rep explained me Jump 1 way differently, stating that half the device value would still need to be paid, lol. However, from the way you describe it, Jump 1 would have certainly been better in this case. The T-Mo rep also stated that customers can choose between Jump 1 or Jump 2, I call that BS.
Even paying 50% of the device is still worth it (whether you wait one year or 6 months) because every non-Apple device depreciates fast.

I agree. Seems like T-Mobile being a true carrier once again (or were they always; like they give a sh!t).
So, if I was a T-Mobile customer a year ago, and chose Jump 1 then, it would have been worth it.
Once you upgrade with Jump 1, customers are required to continue with Jump 2 or simply remove Jump from their account.
T-Mobile is slowly giving us chills. Lets see what they reveal to us next year; will they stick to their plans for the better? #CoverageMyA$$
I'm really looking forward to a bright future for T-Mobile. Better not be one of those companies that fall bankrupt after a major flop. Do they even have the integrity? Can they sustain their building reputation? Who knows...

This is not true. If this happened to you then some sneaky rep in the store must have switched you. I just upgraded this week. I am still on jump 1. I even called them before I left the store to verify. The ONLY way you lose Jump 1 is by 1) Switching to Jump #2 or 2) Leaving T-Mobile then coming back. Thats it. Also when I log into tmobile it says I can jump NOW. That would not be possible on jump 2
Well, I never said T-Mobile was a good company anyway. Most of their store clerks are unprofessional, arrogant, and ignorant anyway. The other day, a female customer lost all her text messages on the phone as it was erased by the store rep without authorization by her; no backup to be found. T-Mobile should wake up; their Uncarrier move isn't all that great as I once thought. I don't mind the changes between Jump 1 and Jump 2, as I do understand in the corporate world, it all about profits and gain; T-Mobile would have suffered major loss had they adhered to the Jump 1 stands for long.

My phone is my internet. I tether it. To do so and not have an outrageous bill you need two things.
1) Rooted phone
2) Unlimited data
So until another company offers unlimited data? They are the best around imo. They are also the only company I can go from the US to London on and still use my phone. Changing nothing. They are actually one of the best carriers. But if you want to keep paying over 100$ a month stay with one of the other guys... I pay 92 a month INCLUDING my note 4 payment. Unlimited everything including data. Due to T-mobiles high speeds my phone is my home internet.
PS> I have seen more retards at Verizon stores than anywhere. Maybe its just the stores where you live have a crappy regional manager? Ever think of that?
Well, I'm sure I must have went to a well reputable Verizon store then. T-Mobile's phone reps never seem to be updated or clear regarding their own policies, nor do they even understand their latest uncarrier moves. Ask them a question (even if you already know the answer) and you'll get a distorted answer from them. I've been to some T-Mobile stores where the reps were courteous, professional, and knew what they were selling, but the odds for encountering a carrier store like that are low for the most part. Its the tele-representatives I'm referring to. I only switched to T-Mobile due to the value of service I'd be getting, nothing to do with coverage.

You may be able to Jump to a new phone after a year or after the device is half way paid off but you have to trade it in . If you do the math you are losing money 2 ways. A year from now you can sell your phone outright for more than $400 easily . That being said 1 year from now you will have half your device paid off if you are doing the 2 year finance . So that means Tmobile is giving $330 Tops for your phone when you Jump. You can just sell your phone for anything more than $330 ( which is very easy) and put it towards a new device . When I was gonna Jump from my S5 to the note 4 they were only giving me $320 cause that is what I owed on it. I sold it for $425 and paid off the S5 and put the extra $105 towards my Note 4 . Unless you are on the old Jump then it is not worth it cause they pay you less than market value for an easy to sell phone.

Merry Christmas!
Hey guys, I've been thinking about canceling my Jump! service, I just do not see the benefit beside protecting you device. I just want to see who have it, and why you want to keep it. Or those that do not have it and why you didn't bother signing up.

In order to Jump you have to have half your device paid off . If you just bought a Note 4 now then in a year from now you will only owe $330 or so . So Tmobile is gonna give you $330 for a phone you could easily sell a year from now for over $400 . Keep your insurance , dump jump and put the $24 you save in a year for not having it plus the $400+ you can sell your Note 4 for and pay off your device when you want to Jump and put the extra $100 or so you have left towards your new phone. Put it this way even if you only get $350 for your Note 4 ( which would be on the very low end) you would still be coming out ahead. Why trade in an easy to sell device when you can sell it yourself ?No doubt about it that you are getting screwed by TMO when you pay for Jump . If you are on the Old Jump please disregard this message. the old Jump is worth it. Tmobile may still ask you to put a deposit on your new phone when you decide to jump . All jump does is pay off the remaing balance on your phone. Tmobile will still run a credit check when you get a new device.Just do the math and you will see why Jump is a Scam . Numbers don't lie put Big Business does. Anything they can to squeeze a few more dollars out of you a month.
I think its just a matter of convenience and peace of mind now with Jump 2. The fact that you don't need to worry about paying shipping and insurance and seller fees, etc when selling the phone to the second owner.

You may be able to Jump to a new phone after a year or after the device is half way paid off but you have to trade it in . If you do the math you are losing money 2 ways.
