Google Calendar not syncing - Nexus 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I updated cm 10.1 and I went into titanium backup and uninstalled the apps that come with it (Apollo, default browser) and it comes with another calendar app that I uninstalled because I use google calendar from the play store. I uninstalled some data thing as well which got rid of the calendar sync option when you go to your account in settings (where contact sync, currents sync etc. Is) so now my calendar is not syncing. What do I do besides factory reset??
I've tried reflashing the ROM and the 4.2.2 Gapps but it didn't fix the problem.
Please help! This is becoming a big problem for me as I rely on my calendar almost everyday!

You could try taking a backup of the data of the calendar using titanium backup, uninstall the calendar, reinstall the calendar from play store and restore the data. Maybe the sync option will show up then

It didn't fix anything =/

Sync Icon in Notification Bar

My sync icon in the notification bar will not go away. Anyone know why? I'm not sure how to check if my google account is being synced correctly, I don't think it's syncing correctly.
Attached is a screen capture.
Lol you don't want that to go away
Restored system data with Titanium?
It's appears to be a bug in Titanium Backup.

Open "My Accounts" click your Google account and choose Syncing options.

Yep, until titanium finds a fix (if there even is one since it's not great to reload system data, especially from a different OS version), that's the way to go. Of course you then need to rebuild all of your system data (wifi, bt, ringtones, etc).
I'm having the same problem after using MyBackup Pro. I looked in my account sync settings and although the google account sync box is unchecked, the 3 items (contacts, calender etc) are all constantly syncing. It's killing my battery and i really don't want to do another factory reset as it's taken me ages to get my new replacement streak (lcd cracked on 1st one) to how i had the original even though I had backed everything up.
Got a sort-of fix. I did a new full data backup, did a factory reset & restored everything except contacts and calender, google syncs those anyway + that causes the conflict.

[Q] android.process.acore has stopped??

Whenever i try to sync my facebook account or go into my contacts i get the error "the process android.process.acore has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again". I get this everytime. What does this mean and how can i fix it? Thanks in advance!!!
if you removed the twlauncher that is your problem. the facebook under the intergraded contacts is tied into tw. I have a facebook under other accounts that I can never get to open so I just do with out linked contacts lol

lol yeah i put tw back on and all is well now
So, if you remove TWlauncher, does that mean you loose the ability to sync facebook contacts to google contacts?
yes via the integrated facebook contacts

This just started for me too, but I couldn't figure out what was causing it. How can I disable the Facebook syncing attempts that cause this? Is removing the Facebook sync account enough, or do I have to disable another apk as well?
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
just uncheck contacts under the facebook account in settings or remove the sync account all together

Actually, scratch that. Ever since I got a replacement Fascinate, the integrated Facebook syncing refused to sync my Facebook contacts. I tried everything possible, but it wouldn't work. Since it wouldnt work anyway, I figured I'd just disable it along with TW, but I decided to enable the TW launcher again, and now I see it's syncing properly now. Go figure. Well, since it's working now, I guess I'll just leave TW enabled, since I want my Facebook contacts to sync.

Nexus s calendar

Hi everybody howcome when I go in calendar and try to add a event it says you have no calendar? Can somebody help me. I download a calendar app from market gave me same message.

Did you create one from Google Calendar? Log onto your gmail account and create a calendar then sync it to your phone.
Lol sounds confusing. What about contacts I saved 2 but its not on my contacts howcome?

It happened to me when I first got my Nexus S. Even though I linked gmail and the calendar wouldn't allow me to add an event until a few days after using the phone while synced to Google account.
Sync Google account and do a soft reboot and if it doesn't work right away, let it run for a couple days. Give that a try. Good luck.

You can manually sync from the sync menu.

I bought my wife the new Nexus S 4g today. The guy at the sprint store helper her set up the phone even thought I did not want him too. Oh well it is his job. Thing is she had never setup Google Calendar because she had a BlackBerry before that. So when I got home I setup her Google calendar but it is not syncing to her new phone. When I go to Setting > Accounts & Sync > her google account there is not a Calendar option. What do I need to do I don't want to have to reset her phone. Are there any other options? Thanks.
Odd. Calendar should be one of the defaults syncs. Have you tried running the calendar app and see if the gmail account shows up there?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
I had tried running the calendar app but nothing shows up I even enter an event online thinking may bring it down but nothing. If you try to add an event on the phone it just says "You have no calendars". It is almost like the phone did not sync all the way to her account. I really don't want to reset her phone to factory default and have her set everything up again. She would not want to do that. She has already change the wallpaper all the screens downloaded apps, and changed ring tones.
I meant open the calendar app, press the menu button, press More then on Calendars and make sure the gmail account is listed there.
Also, this might be a stupid question but you're connected with Wifi or mobile network (3G, 2G, etc) right? Your phone signal bars should appear green if you're connected to Google's servers. If it's not green, you won't be able to sync.
I go to Calendar app > More > Calendars and there is nothing there, just have an Ok and cancel button. I have been on 3g, 4g, and wifi and nothing on any of them. Yes the the bars a green at the top.
I doubt you need to reset to factory so not to worry about that. Maybe you just have to wait a day or two. Either that or bring it back to the store and have them figure it out.
Might do that thanks. Hopefully it will work itself out.
You can also try rebooting the phone if you haven't already.
already tried that

maybe you should try and get the stock calendar.apk and re-install it...???
Ok I talked to Sprint and they said that is easiest way was to make sure that the phone was backed up to Google and just do a Factory Wipe. Basically wipe the phone and start over. So I did and that fixed the problem. So anyone who gets a new google phone and does not have all the google apps setup do that before you get the phone activated. I hope someone finds a better way because that is a major oversight on googles part. But everything is working great now.

[Q] Gmail sync suddenly stopped working

I've been on android for many years, and know my way around for sure. I've been running the CM10.1 nightlies with the faux123 kernel for quite a while and everything was working well. Suddenly in the last few days, Gmail sync stopped working. The odd thing is that Exchange emails are getting pushed, Chrome to phone works, calendar, browsing etc. all work. Gmail will eventually sync, but I need to open the Gmail application app and force a sync.
Here is what I've already tried
- Disable and enable gmail sync
- Clear cache
- Clear data
- Installed stock 4.2.2 ROM (bigxies)
- Reinstalled CM10.1 after a factory reset
- Installed stock again
- Reinstalled new baseband and radio
I'm now running stock 4.2.2 and still can't get Gmail sync to work. Can anyone offer any advice?
When reinstalling/changing ROMs are you restoring account system data with TitaniumBackup? I had one account not syncing for like a month across three different ROMs. Had to just delete and add all my accounts again to fix it.
You haven't tried removing and re-adding your Google account?

No, only restoring apps + app data. I never back up system data.

Yes, I did this first (forgot it in my list), and did this when I did a factory reset with stock ROM twice as well.
This happened to me whenever I tried restoring Gmail app+data from Ti Backup. Whenever I wipe, I have to uninstall Gmail and redownload from Google Play.
It was odd. I finally got it working but turning off Gmail sync for 24 hours, and then back on. It was the oddest thing, but I guess it fixed itself.

You can have multiple Google accounts active so just add your old account to your phone. If you don't want contacts, calendar etc, just turn off all the syncs for the old account.

Yeah, because all the apps would be installed on the old account so just add it and untick all of the other sync options.
