[Solved] Setup Captive Portal - Networking

Today I want to share everyone here. I have come to my conclusion that captive portal is good for some people out there who's trying to get business running by creating a wifi hotspot service to customer... But unfortunately... "I don't find a good way to do it"<<< that's inside your brain huh? Pretty Hopeless.
I don't find a good way to do it
If you have a better way to set it up, post it here....

Hi , I had similar idea.
I made a simple app for this purpose. If you are a developer, I need your help to improve the app. For downloading the app and source code check this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-setup-fake-captive-portal-android-t4011689

APP request - grol testing software for windows mobile

Hello everyone. I am a second year electronics student and am now working for my General Radiotelephone Operator License (GROL). I am looking at having to memorize the answers to just under 700 questions. Its rather tough lol. The reason I am here is simple. I have searched and searched and have not found any software for my touch pro that will help me study for this test. I don't know how to write programs but I know that many of you out there do a phenomenal job. I am looking for someone that would write a program for me that would quiz me on all the questions for the GROL. In fact I believe that if one where interested in making a few dollars he or she could go all out and make a program that creates a full exam from the test question pool, then watches which ones the user gets wrong and makes sure to ask them more often. It would also be cool if a pop up window came up explaining the proper answer. I also think it would be nice to have a screen at the end showing results. I know at first this seams daunting but I do have software that came with my book that is close to this and could send you a copy. Also, the entire question pool is listed on the fcc website. It wont let me post the link here but if you contact me by email i can find it for you.
The GROL only requires sections 1 and 3. The only other program similar was marked at $40.00 and for the pc. Nothing has been found for the PPC where it makes the most sense. During random downtimes a person can do a few random questions here and there. I believe that if made to look nice with a nice touch style interface someone could post this to windows marketplace and sell it for $20.00 easily and make some nice cash on it. I would learn to program and do it myself if it weren't for the fact that I am in class now and need it ASAP.
Thanks in advance for all that entertain the thought of taking this on

It's not exactly what you said, but maybe you can use SuperMemo UX & SuperMemo Mobile. It's free software, but you will need to build your own course.

I know this is an older post. And I knkw what you mean, and are talking about. I am changing career fields into Avionics, and a classmate has an app for his (cry)Phone. But in the Google Play Store, they have some, but they are expensive for what it is ($19.99 and $12.99). I can't find anything except crApple. Absolutely no Android. I can't even find anything where someone ported the CD that is in the book over to Android and other platforms. I have coppied the files from the CD to a folder on my computer called "GROL." So I didn't have to have the CD in my computer the whole time. I'm going to graduate at the end of this month, and I only have Element 1 done. Partly its my own fault for waiting until now. But either way, I'll have 3 & 8 done. But it would be nice if I could take the studying with me when I have life going on and not by my computer. Lol
Android surpassed crApple, and yet we still get kicked to the curb.

WinMo Security Management

Hi there!
I might have missed any other threads discussing the following but unfortunately I couldn't find a related topic by searching for the term security. Actually, the search function didn't return anything when entering the string "security". Anyways, let's get started:
A friend of mine recently got a HTC Legend and told me a very intersting story. When installing a simple battery app, the installer asked him to gain permission to access his contact list, his gps coordinates and many other things. This made me currious in terms of: is there any way in WinMo enabling the same permission check before installing an application?
Regards,
Zoimt
Nope, I don't think so.
You may enable the security policy that will ask you every time you run a new cab or file, but still it won't show you what "connections", "resources" or "devices" does the app use.
That is weak, very weak and disappointing... I wouldn't care at all if I hadn't got mobile internet just recently. This actually is a no-go. I gotta get rid of this windows crap this instant. But on the other hand, this just sounds typically windows to me...
There isn't any piece of software that can do such things like monitoring which service accesses what resources? I better have a closer look at the WinMo api, smells like money. I just need people to get as scared as I'm right now...
::Edit::
Jeees, I just saw that I posted this in the wrong forum. I want to excuse for that, must have missclicked, wanted this to appear in the Software forum. Please forgive me peeps. Have a nice!

Try Spb Wireless monitor, also WMLongLife has some monitoring features.
I use Dialup Enabler/Disabler to disable my 3G connection when I don't need it so I do not pay at all.

No problem for me, I'm not a mod to judge this
Well the Android security system is little more enhanced here. but at the end of day it there's no mechanism to give you 100% security.
Sure you can refuse to install a wallpaper app that asks for your location permissions. but if you install some location aware app then there's no guarantee that it doesn't collect your private data and upload it on some websites....

What happened to Sashimi???

I am looking for something to automate my email settings after flashing. Sashimi seemed to be the software that would do the trick. Seems like it dropped off the face of the earth. Author is banned here and the winmob experts website that he moved to is gone altogether.
Anyone know if this software is still available or is there something that will do the same thing that is current.
Thanks
Paul
Am also wondering. Have the experts on xda transitioned to something other than Sashimi?
It's your lucky day, a guy just near there have posted a modified version :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=9303770#post9303770
Disclaimer : I haven't tested this one, so i can't tell if it's crap or not...
Sashimi still standard??
Is Sashimi still the defacto standard being used ? I know SPBclone is the pro cloning/imaging sw, but i figured developers would constantly be tweaking a similar solution.
FYI some Tutorial Vids that might be of interest to anyone in my point in this learning curve. I found them of interest @ least These will have links to the rest available on Youtube
oops - seems as a new user i cant share the links w/u but search for 'winmoexperts' on youtube and u will see
thnx again all - site has been very educational
very nice, thank you buddy

[Q] Android App: create twitter feed platform

I am interested in creating and android based app where short posts like twitter can be shared with a group of people who has that app. So for example if 10 people have this app and one of them decided to create a post and share it then all the other 9 people should be able to see it in there feed. I am new to app development and was hoping I can get some kind of guidance from here as to where to start. I am not sure what kind of platform or technology is used in facebook and twitter for this specific purpose but I would like a similar setup. I really appreciate any help or guidance to help me get started and thanks in advance.
Google Cloud Messaging might be helpful in that case: http://developer.android.com/google/gcm/index.html
I'd, however, suggest to create some easier apps first, just for learning. Keep in mind, a twitter clone is a big and difficult project.
Smaller project
I would like to start from a smaller project but not sure about this area at all. I was thinking to just create a small app first where I create a post and it appears on the other end. Any ideas as how to go about it? thank you for your help.

I don't know how to do that as I've never really been interested in networking. I'd suggest to do something without networking as your first application to get used to Android's UI elements and to Android code in general.
As soon as you understood that you can do as much networking as you want but I would start with something that is easier. (A calculator is a typical beginner project. )

i ll give the example of Facebook
there
newsfeeds run on Hadoop
messages are on nosql not sure about this
all the searches you perform on the new graph interface (exculding those on messages) are through FQL
its a language of their own Facebook Query Language
Python is the backbone of it all, chief scripting language on thier server
of course the webinterface you see is php and javascript
........ this much only i know
but there are a few more
as u can see there's more to it than it seems to be so starting with such a thing won't be a wise decision !
"no hill too high to climb" - proceed this project if you really want to !

What I can't understand is:
Why do you ask this in a forum dedicated to Bluetooth wristwatches?

Hi tihimasmo
A moderator changed my post here, you know in what section i can post my thread ?
And thanks
Haha, he really did? Then I guess my question is directed at the moderator.
Closing this thread. Using such an app on a public Wi-Fi network that isn't yours to begin with is probably not the wisest thing to do, and may even be illegal.
