[Q] Samsung "Find My Mobile" - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Just wondering if anyone has been successful getting the Sprint S4 to register as a device on Samsung's Find My Mobile site. Are we limited by the hardware in our device or the software? Thought there might be a mod or trick to get ours to work. Would be nice not to have to use a third party app.

You could try airdroid, not sure if it will give you all functions that you need though.

What kind of remote control ? Against theft ? For that, the samsung has it's own remote control service. If you have a Samsung account set-up on your Galaxy S3, go to : http://www.samsungdive.com/DiveMain.do
For total remote access, I don't know. But if it's possible, it may create vulnerability on your device (because it will able to receive instructions from other devices).

Airdroid is goof if you just want to use a browser to send text messages etc.
I have mine set up with tasker to fire up automatically when my phone joins the works wifi network. That way I can text all day without ever having to touch my phone
You could also try DroidVNC for more complete control of the device.
Try Moborobo, you can control your phone from Pc as if your phone is on your hands

Remote control Crash
Hi guys!
Got a HK I9300 a few weeks ago! the phone is still stock.
I am currently on mainland China, on a China Mobile sim card, must also add i do get access to Google Play (so no need to change to change roms for now)
Problem though is that i wanted to add some security to the phone, with the "remote control". Registered on Samsung Dive, Google, allowed google locations,... and when i go to remote controls and press "ok", i get " Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
i would like to know if anyone had the same problems or is it remote controls is not supported for mainland china?
Thanks ... really want to keep track of my phone in case it gets stolen

[Q] Samsung apps offering updates for apps that aren't installed

Hi there,
I have a question about the Samsung Galaxy S5 which I wonder if anyone else has noticed...
Basically I got a message from Samsung Apps store telling me that I have updates available for some preinstalled/built-in apps. These are:
* S Note
* Optical Reader
* S Translator
* Scrapbook
However here is the interesting part. These applications are not installed on my phone! At least they don't seem like they are. For instance, they are not under the Apps menu and they don't show under Application Manager -> All.
Moreover, if I update Scrapbook then (and only then) the app is shown under the Application Manager. What is even more interesting is that if I click on the application under Application Manager, it then gives me the option to uninstall the application, instead of the option to uninstall updates which is what I really get with built-in apps such as Gmail, S Health, etc.
So if I uninstall Scrapbook after I installed it (agian, the available option is to uninstall the entire app - ot the updates as if it was a built-in app), the app disappears from my phone (as expected), and then it shows back as an available update for a preinstalled/built-in app! How weird is that?!
Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Try opening Samsung Apps, then select the option Purchased under Settings. There under Updates I can see the apps available for updates with in fact does not exist in my Android phone. I wonder if anyone else can replicate this issue?
I thought those were all installed previously, maybe I don't remember but it's not such an bad thing. They want you to try their apps to get their experience. It's understandable considering they include their own app store and some apps preinstalled.

I have the same issue. I put it down to Samsung poor wording. It's a little annoying but I can live with it.

Actually they are NOT all installed previously, and the issue is that Samsung Store keeps bugging me to update them when in fact I don't want to install them. So this is not understandable at all...
Same for me, today I disabled auto updates amd notifications in the Samsung app

Hah. in fact it just added two more apps under the "updates" tab. Samsung AllShare Cast Dongle S/W Update and NNL Fingerprint Passport.
VERY ANNOYING But I did what you suggested and disabled the auto updates.
I keep getting this happen to me too.

i wonder if it is because the apks are installed, but not activated at a system level....
i bet you the "bloat" is built into the stock ROM somehow....maybe that's why it is recognizing it as "update" rather than "install"
I find this annoying as well. My phone belongs to the company so I don't want to root it until there's a workaround for knox so I disabled or stopped a lot of Samsung apps. I'm still getting updates for them. I went on their support website and complained. I got a response. (A lame response, but at least a response.) I also complained to the Samsung app store. Complaining here is guaranteed to not make any difference. Complaining to Samsung might eventually make a difference if enough people do it.
I just disabled the Samsung store app since I could care less about Samsung's crummy store and their apps.
Same here - I went through and "updated" all of them before realising that they weren't even installed so I uninstalled them. Some of the apps were ones that were installed as standard on the S4 - so I'm guessing that they're apps that Samsung recommend you install.
Either way, it means that any *real* updates for apps that are only in the Samsung store rather than in Play won't happen now as I've disabled Samsung updates. Well done Samsung.

Samsung Cloud w/Nougat?

Noticed after installing Nougat on my Verizon S7 Edge that the files listed for the Note 7 workaround are now available. Only problem is, using quick shortcut maker doesn't seem to work as it had with Note 7. Makes the shortcuts fine, but obviously they don't work.
Also checked sammobile for the cloud apk file. was from 3 months ago, downloaded and tried to install. Upon doing that, phone said it was an update to my current program. Then said it could not install. Which leads me to believe we have the correct files, but Verizon still has it locked down?!?!
So my question is, has anyone found a workaround yet? Or does this mean that Verizon is "considering" giving us Samsung Cloud finally?
Verizon removed it completely.
Thanks for the quick response. I was just surprised to see all the files available to use the shortcut maker on. Guess I was kinda hoping that Verizon would finally step up and give us Samsung Cloud. Oh well.
Verizon will never allow for a service like that, because they don't make extra money off it.
I'm still surprised that they haven't figured out a way to prevent Google Maps from working on their network as well, so they can force everybody to use the for-pay VZ Navigator.

That she would be my last day with Verizon and probably a class action lawsuits like they did to cable providers over forcing cable boxes.

fingerprint access website app....

hello. is there an app that allow this? i want to access simply in one touch, i listened that samsung s8 has this native function and i hope that lg g6 has an app to do this. thanks
do you mean use your fingerprint to log onto websites instead of inputting your username and password? That works on Samsung devices using Samsung's internet browser. Perhaps you can download a browser that has this functions, but I don't think it's possible with the Chrome browser.
thanks, i hope anyone know this important function

Can't use Samsung Pay

Hey guys,
I bought the Samsung S8+ in Germany, O2. I was hoping to be able to use Samsung Pay or android pay. All the other Samsungs I've had they come with Samsung Pay already, just to swipe up and it appears, with this one I don't have it. I tried to download in the play store and says ain't available for my country. The problem is I know it's available I just can't get it... I even downloaded the apk and installed it and when was on the setup says "can't read Sim card" and automatically closes. When I enter again says it can't connect to the server ( I'm using wifi and tried with data also)
Anyone knows how can I use Samsung Pay on S8? Kinda sad I payed so much for a cellphone and one of the features I was looking forward I can't use it =(
someone recommended this to me and it worked. try downloading samsung pay version 2.7.03
