Can I get a custom bootanimation for stock MF9 kernel? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

I'm guessing no... just wanna make sure. I hate the stupid Sprint bootanimation.

I noticed when I installed the Xousos rom it mentions a boot animation fix. That rom is based off of MF9 and uses a regular bootanimation.zip.
Otherwise you have to use Samsung Theme Designer to edit or create your own animation. Samsung uses a proprietary format and throwing a bootanimation.zip in the media folder doesn't work by itself.

[MOD] UCKH3 AOSP lock screen (Fixed)

Here is a version of AOSP lock for stock UCKH3. Just follow instructions below.
Ok, I fixed the problem with the power menu not displaying. Here is the working version of AOSP lockscreen for stock KH3. The puzzle lock will have to wait for a bit. For some reason I can't get the default non-notification puzzle piece to display so I'll have to look at it some more when I have time.
Second Update; Ok guys, that was totally my stupid mistake. Two mods at one time probably wasn't the best idea. I forgot to edit the cwm script for the lock screen. I completely apologize for that screw up. The files that are attached are the corrected ones and I've tested them several times over just to make sure.
This is a deodex mod and will only work on fully deodexed KH3 roms! I've tested this several times without issue.
Use at own risk, and backup all necessary files. I'm not responsible for anything that happens to your phone.
Instructions
1. Download kh3aosplock_cwm_fix.zip
2. a. Install from CWM or
b. if you don't yet have the CWM kernel then manually extract the jar file and replace it at /system/framework
3. Restart
Revert back to the default glass lock with the same instructions using kh3glasslock_cwm_fix.zip
Ok, I will looking forward to it
Thank you for this MOD
couldn't get it to work with CWM or manually.

Ok guys I forgot to update the cwm script before posting the files. Completely my bad and I apologize for that. The two files attached in the first post have been corrected and tested several times. Hopefully no more issues.

Ok... Lets have another go cause I know this works. I re-uploaded the files with different names so there is no confusion. I grabbed these files directly from my phone when I've reloaded with cwm three or four times each just to make sure. Please give it a try and let me know. Sorry for the problems guys, I'm kind of novice but I'm learning.
Ill check back in in a few hours.
Tried it. Same result. I still get the stock glass lock.

Hey guys, I downloaded Victory1.3 cause I was going to test this out and see why its not working. I happened to look in the framework directory before flashing (thank goodness). The framework jars have not been deodexed. My modded android.policy.jar is a deodexed jar and will not work on non-deodexed roms. I sent Googler a PM to let him know as well. This mod, as well as the quickpanel sound toggle mod, will work without issue on fully deodexed roms KH3 roms. I'll see about making one in the next day or two.
So your two mods will only work on fully deodexed roms???
Deodexing usually always involved framework as well as apps.

Well, the sound toggle mod may work if only apps is deodexed and not framework but I can't say for certain since it is a system apk. Deodexing usually always involves framework as well as apps.

extract boot animation and wallpaper ?

I have came across several cross carrier roms and one in particular was not working but I liked the boot animations both in the beginning and end plus the wallpapers for that ROM (TMobile). How can I pull the boot animations and wallpaper and apply it to a working Sprint ROM instead ? Thanks

Typically their a zip and jpeg files respectively. I would look through the system folder. Their likely in there. The Sprint rom requires a modified xml I believe to run custom animation. I haven't dove into it yet. Just what I've gathered from the custom rom builds.

[Q] Need Guidance for Theming

I am trying to learn how the theme a ROM. Example GoldenEye37 ROM (for my personal theme), the only thing I edit was some PNG's (not 9.png)using gimp but every time I try to flash the themed ROM i get this "com.android.keyguard has stopped " or just stuck on Samsung boot. Sorry been at this for 3 days now and normally I am good on searching for the answers. Couldn't find one that worked so far.
Any ideas why?
This is the guide ive been following http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2251719
Thank You
Edit: So found out my problem in another forum. I was signing the framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk . Signing them was causing the problem.
Now I need to find out when I need to sign the apk and not to, also what zipalign does.
Sorry for making a useless thread. I got impatiant after the 3rd day
At&t S4 SafeStrap
You could also grab a flashable vr theme zip, put all you .png files into their correct places in the flashable zip and zip it up and flash. No need for decompiling/recompiling/signing/zip aligning at all. The VR Theme flashable zip will integrate your .png files into each respective .apk file and do everything for you. You can grab my Red BadAss Flashable Theme and use it as a template. It is made for use on 4.2.2-4.3 roms or 4.4.2 roms. It has checks in it that will see which you have and flash the correct version.
It really is a easier way of making a theme. It will allow you to put .png, .9.png, .xml, or any other file type used inside the .apk and will change it for you.

Thank you! I really appreciate it. Love your work! I downloaded your Red Badass theme to use as a template.
I want to theme different custom roms.
1.Do I just delete the framework, systemUI...etc..files you made in there and replace it with my theme?
2. Do I need to do anything to META-INF folder for different Roms 4.4.2 I want to theme?
3. What do you mean by zip it up and flash? Do I need a tool for this?
My apologies if my questions are common sense. I'm just starting to learn on my free time. I'm really good at building circuits/electronics though [emoji2]

1) I would suggest that you delete out all of the .PNG files inside of each folder, then add your .PNG files into the correct folders where they came from.
2) The Meta file should not need to be replaced and should work on any touchwiz 4.4.2 based ROM. When you unzip my theme you will see different folder right away. You will see "system" and "system4.3" inside. The one labeled "system" will work on 4.4.2 based Roms, the one labeled "system4.3" will work on 4.2 and 4.3 based Roms. Likewise for the other folders like "vrtheme" =4.4.2 and "vrtheme4.3" =4.2.2 and 4.3 based Roms.
3) Once you have put all your .PNG files into their respective folders, then you can use Root Explorer (on the phone) to ZIP the theme back up. Or you could use a PC based software to zip the theme back up (if your working on a PC to change out the .PNG files). Once it is zipped up you can put it on your phone and use your custom recovery/safestrap recovery to flash the created zip file.
Any further questions feel free to ask, I can help as needed.

I checked out the link a bit. It is made for CM11. You could grab all the PNG files and copy them into the vrtheme flashable zip. BUT you will need to RENAME ALL/MOST of the .pngs for use on a Touchwiz based rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467075
It is a lot of work, but can be done. I did it with one of my themes from an older phone where I had a Touchwiz Based Theme and a CM/AOKP Based ROM Themes.
There is no way just to flash it as Touchwiz does not use the theme engine.

Okay so forget about flashjng it on or applying it via theme engine. How about remove touchwiz all together and use this theme/up instead .
Lol I really don't want to do the whole renaming/editing to get this to work right.

Devo7v is 100% right unfortunately. That's why I've been slowly trying to learn smali editing, in order to make my stock rom look more like AOSP (and at least PRETEND I still have cyanogenmod). Anyway if you're looking to modify your phone it's probably a good idea (and often necessary) to deodex your rom, and as I said that guide I linked to couldn't be easier.
A Few Concerns;
Right now, I am using 4.4.2NE3 update. I don't fully understand, how to be able to root my device after flashing it into NH3, so heres a few questions about your mods.
Even though I'm on NE3, can I still flash your Flashlight+Mobile Data toggle.zip?
When will Odex support be enabled?
I flashed the mods and everything is working fine except for safestrap. It no longer works.
Hi there
I'm on fresh and rooted NH3.
How can I install this mods?. As far I understand I need first to deodex the rom? But in the deodexing tutorial also need to use CWM to install it?

Go to CWM recovery
Flash the zip
Done

Restore from a nandroid backup made before installing these mods, or go through the zip file, figure out which system .apk's and .jar's you're modifying and copy the original unmodified files from your system partition to your internal storage or SD card, then if you want to uninstall you can just replace the modified file(s) with the original
Just out of curiosity why are you still on NH3? Do you prefer kitkat over lollipop?

I was hoping it would just be like an uninstall zip like blaz1nr's tweaks/mods....I'll try them when I get the chance. Thanks.
I don't prefer kitkat over lollipop. I'd like to update whenever I can but I only have this phone and wouldn't want to be out of action for too long. The thought of having to go through Odin if the phone doesn't do well after the update is kind of intimidating to me at this point. I'll get there eventually. I like to read the posts over and over to really understand what the steps are before I do them. Right now, the confidence is just not there. Thanks for your help.

Try this! This is just a marshmallow theme, not an actual 6.0 ROM. And for the boot animation, the boot animation files are located in system/media (qmg format). You can find custom qmg bootanimations somewhere.
i know it's so late , but i search for this if u find a way
