I am looking for an email app that locks with some type of security. I have an issue with my companies email. It makes me lock my phone with a pin. I do not wish to do this if I dont have to. Does an app exist that I can lock with a pin?

Here ya go. This will patch the email apk to bypass the exchange policy and the pin requirement

Jealous. I don't suppose there's such a workaround for Gmail's security policy stuff? I have refrained from installing my company's security policy because I don't want to lock my phone with a pin.
My company required us to use Good Messenger for Enterprise which also requires a password locked phone with remote wipe capabilities. Recently they added a root check to their security services which then locked down Good Messenger until you uprooted. Luckily my company also has a webmail.companyname.com email solution for employees needing to use their laptop off the company network. I found an email app in the market called push email by Emoze that can access my webmail account and push my company email to me which means I don't have to install their security protocols now but still get all my mail in an easy to use app. If your company has a webmail service you may want to check it out. It's compatible with outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, office 365, and IWA servers.

Is there an app or a hacked email apk that lets you bypass the Exchange security (PIN code required) that my work server has set up on it? I ask because I'd like to answer emails for them, but don't want the annoyance of the PIN every five minutes (I'd rather use the pattern unlock).
I'd guess NO, because that's an Activesync security feature? But maybe someone wrote a version that caches it, although it's likely more complicated than you think, requiring certs and back-and-forth from phone to server.
Just use TouchDown. It's not cheap (19.95), but its worth it IMO to be able bypass the pin annoyance. You can try the free version for 30 days.
My phone quite requesting the pin for exchange server after the Verizon update (the original OTA update). It only requests it on startup (and the server side setting haven't changed-tested on multiple devices). Anybody else exprience that?

I have the same problem with the native aosp email client. I can connect fine with the sense client and touchdown. I have tried time and time again for a solution to no avail. I have even called my I.T. department and they Sid thy its on Google's end and there was nothing they could do. Its a real bummer.
Thanks for your response guys

I had mine workin fine before I rooted and havent been able to get it to connect since then...
I have been using my EVO for my work (Exchange) email and calendar since launch day. It has worked on non-rooted Sense, rooted Sense and rooted non-Sense. I just had to add "webmail" before my exchange name (webmail.company.com).
No problems whatsoever with the Email client in CyanogenMod 7. Connects, syncs, push notifies, does calendar, email, and contacts.
If your company is publishing "outlook anywhere" the stock sense mail client should connect and auto configure. Only needs domain and account credentials

Agreed. The only thing missing for me is search.

Mine works fine.
Just be aware that if you connect your personal cell phone to your work Exchange account then they can wipe your phone.
http://www.npr.org/2010/11/22/131511381/wipeout-when-your-company-kills-your-iphone
With Exchange 2010 you can wipe the phone yourself using OWA. Maybe with 2007 as well but my company uses 2010.
Appends on your Exchange server policies. The stock android client is not compatible with certain security policies.

My work requires that we set up our exchange email on our phones and in doing so it forces a lock screen password on our phones which I find personally infuriating. We have absolutely no sensitive information in our emails and no reason for this restriction. In my old jailbroken iPhone the was an app called exchange unlock which removed this restriction. Is the something similar I can get on android?
Thanks
Touch down or emoze. Both will respect the policy, but you will only be required to enter the passcode when entering the app. You then remove your work active sync from the base android

hi guys
anyone know how I use the fingerprint reader with exchange policy (enforce password on device)?
with the iphone 5s it works, but with the samsung s5 the fingerprint reader is disabled (Pincode enforced)..
Thank you to all
I dont think they have an option for exchange policy which is kind of stupid. I hope they come out with a fix for this.

You'll need to download a different app to use for your exchange account. I just downloaded "Nine" and it gives you the option to set the exchange security on the app level instead of the phone level. Two week trial then it's $10.

Thanks, nine is cool but it dosnt support s/mime (for sign an encypt) and imap4 for private use.
I use "smail". it support s/mime and imap4 but not the exchange policy avoiding.
maybe smail will implement this feature in future. smail developer quote: "I will check the nine. But I don't know when I will implement it currently. I am busy with something. I will try to do it. Thank you!"

Good deal. I not super familiar with s/mime, but apparently my company does not require that level of security.
Do a Google Play search for Touchdown. Another email client (not as polished looking as Nine) that says it supports s/mime. It's a bit pricier, $20 I believe, after the free trial. If I remember correctly you can set the security at the app level as well. Worth a shot. Hope that helps.
Disabled with my company's policy as well. Was hoping it would work like the iPhone. I can use touchdown or cloudmagic but I prefer the stock email/calendar.

If u r using this with work email... is it safe (legal) to use other apps?
So apparently when signing into work email using the Gmail app, Smart Lock becomes completely disabled and I am only allowed pin and password screen lock. Any way around this?
Yes. Use Nine. Your IT department is enforcing the security. By using Nine you can set to use the security for the app only. Everything else is enabled. To be honest I used Gmail for 2 weeks after finding that I lost my heading in all my replied/forwarded emails (date, time, to/from and subjecf). Nine as been flawless for the past 2 weeks. Paid app but worth it.
Any other work around out there.
I've tried almost every exchange mail app and Nine has the most features with no crashes. Nine allows you to apply the company security to just the app instead of the phone. I've been using it for about 2 years.

There are Xposed apps to disable forced authentication for Exchange but these require root, and most employers have stopped allowing root on BYOD. That was enough to show my employer the middle finger and tell them that if they want me to have access to corporate email they better start paying for a device because I am not giving up root for their convenience.
Agree with previous posters that if you are not rooted Nine is beautiful app. It also has the advantage over Gmail of being instantly able to tell if an email is work or personal with one glance at the status bar. It ain't cheap but is well worth it.
Another workaround, if your company allows webmail access is MailCal. This is a very nice GUI wrapper around OWA, far and away the best of its kind and the developer is super responsive.
