Ever since the update, while navigating, if I turn the screen off, the navigation automatically ends. Upon turning the screen back on, if I try to navigate again, maps will glitch and shut down. Is there any way I can keep navigation on in the background with the screen off like we used to be able to do?

Post in Q&A section for future reference. I had the same problem with Google maps update I just uninstalled the app and went back to factory settings for it and it works fine.

Couldn't find answer to my issue but if i overlooked please forward the link
anyway, my screen does not time out any more. it was set for 30 seconds, at one point i enabled the stay awake feature that keeps it awake while charging. but I have since disabled that feature. in any case, it should be irrelevant because my phone won't timeout even when not charging. disappointing because it used to work no problem . any suggestions?

I too have noticed my screen is not timing out and going to lock state. I have timeout set to 2 minutes. The timeout time is now only dimming the display, but it never seems to go to lockscreen state. Has anyone else seen this and know how to correct it? I'm running Ice Glacier 1.1.1 themed, and can post in the devel section of that thread if more appropriate.
Sorry for the double post ... I rebooted and now screen timeout is working again. I'll keep an eye on it to see if the problem returns after a certain amount of bootup time.
I flashed Dark Unicorn Resurrected v2 and then updated to v2.5 exactly as instructed. Everything works amazingly so far, but one issue I am having is with the GPS. It refuses to lock on. Because of this, I can't use Navigation's turn by turn directions, which I use quite frequently. I installed FasterFix to see if that would help speed things up, but no luck. I've let it search for over 15 minutes and still nothing. Hasn't locked on since I've flashed. The notification bar pops up with the "searching for GPS" but disappears after like 3 seconds. I'm wondering if it stops actively trying to search.
Any help/advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!
I really need to get my post count up so I can ask this on the appropriate Dev thread.
Try reflashing the rom.
First time I flashed it, I wasn't able to use bluetooth. I could turn it on, see its mac address, but could not find any devices neither be found.

I haven't had gps issues on 2.5 but I did on previous versions. I would try the gps fix that is posted in the second post on this page by sckboy78 and 0.0:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670207&highlight=gps+fix
just click the link under all fixes in one place.
The 'read this first' doc will explain how to do it. If that doesn't help they are discussing gps issues and their radios in these posts in awesome's thread:

Hope this helps!
Hey folks, I just got my nexus and was unable to find another topic regarding the screen timeout feature (admittedly, searching the forums on a phone isn't easy).
My Nexus 4 will not go to sleep. I have the screen timeout set to 30 seconds, and have had the phone sitting on a counter for 20 minutes, screen still ablaze. Has anyone else experienced a similar issue?

Wonder, why that's happening. mine goes to sleep in 30 seconds. IDK if you did this already but a good reboot might work.
Is your phone currently charging?
Settings -> Developer Options -> Stay awake
I don't know how but I accidentally enabled this somehow. Whenever I charged my phone the screen would never turn off. Once got left on for 3+ hours
Timeout Eagles
I've never encountered that
Could be due to an app.
I had the same symptoms -- screen would not turn off by itself regardless of what I had the sleep setting set to. I could turn the screen off by hitting the side button, but it would not turn off by itself.
Then I remembered that there's some apps I installed that had permission to keep the screen on, presumably even if it is not the active app on screen.
I didn't have time to figure out which one was guilty, so I rebooted my phone to unload them and sure enough the phone does sleep automatically now (until I load up the errant app again, I suppose).
Good luck.

Thread moved. Questions belong in Q&A.
It definitely sounds like an app, e.g. I have dolphin browser set so it always keeps the screen on so I can watch stuff but if I don't close the app the screen will be left on obviously when I put it down and forget it.
Thank you for moving this the proper forum. I guess it was just hanging app. I guess I was just over anxious since the phone was brand new. Now it has been documented for future users. Thanks everybody.

Hi guys,
Encountered a strange bug on my rogers GS4 and the exact same issue on my GFs Telus GS4, both stock roms, unrooted.
When using navigation and driving, to save battery life I usually like to turn off screen. You still hear the navigation talking. The problem is that when I turn the screen back on, I am presented with the lock screen. Putting the pin in, logs you into MAPS but the blue route is gone, there is no blue route anymore, you just see your position moving. The voice diractions still work. Opening other screens and moving back into navigation does not return the route. Entering new or same route, without fulling exiting navigation, will crash maps completely.
Any ideas?
