The need to wipe battery stats died with Android FroYo (or maybe it was already back at Eclair?). When you charge your battery to 100% and pull the cord, then the stats are reset.

Since there is no such option in the recovery menu, I thought it would be useful to let you know how to reset your battery stats. It comes handy every now and then in order to calibrate the battery meter. IT'S IN NO WAY a magic formula to improve your battery life, but it's beneficial after a series of ROMs flashing or several charges cicles.
You need to be rooted :
1) drain your battery completed until the tab shuts down
2) charge your tab ( with the tab OFF ) completely
3) turn the tab ON (still with the charger connected ) and run Root Explorer
4) go to : /data/system/batterystats.bin and delete batterystats.bin
5) turn the tab OFF
6) disconnect from the charger
7) turn the tab ON
DONE !
If you do not have Root Explorer you can use the Terminal app of your choice :
1) drain your battery completed until the tab shuts down
2) charge your tab ( with the tab OFF ) completely
3) turn the tab ON (still with the charger connected ) and run the Terminal App
4) type the command : rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
5) turn the tab OFF
6) disconnect from the charger
7) turn the tab ON
DONE !

nice share bro thanks.
Thanks a lot! This solved battery drain issue after flashing Overcome Kratos!
I don't think it is necessary to wipe battery stats.
I changed my rom, battery life is pretty good!
Thx, useful!
There is a wipe battery stat in recovery

Just wondering, your procedure is similar but not identical to others that have been posted, e.g.:
1. Power off your phone and charge it until the indicator turns green.
2. Boot to recovery mode and go to console (or adb shell) and type:
mount -a [enter]
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin [enter]
3. Reboot the phone and run it until it shuts off by itself. (TIP: Turn your screen brightness all the way up and change the Screen Timeout setting to “Never timeout.” This will drain your battery very quickly.)
4. Recharge the phone completely and then use it as you normally would.

Specifically the ordering of the complete drain and the full charge are reversed. Does it matter?

I also asked myself about that whenever i read such advices. I guess the most important thing is to have the tab recreate the stats file when it is loaded to the max. It will anyway afterwards need some time (read: charging cycles) until everything runs smooth again. But if the new stats file would be created with less than 100% charged then it would never get charged full thereafter.
nice share thanks.
this is a common issue, if you install a rom with less than full battery charge (though going back to stock firmware works at any batt %)
Not all tabs have CWM working to wipe battery stats from the advanced menu or the console. Root explorer/ES File explorer, and the ADB shell option work with stock rooted Tabs no matter if they are GSM/CDMA or have CWM..
Always glad to see good info posted up.

Hi guys,
I'm still new to my SGT.. Wondering is there any way to "reset/re-calibrate" battery without opening the unit (to unplug batt) and or if I don't have my SGT Rooted yet?
Mine is dropping to 3% from 35-40%... without any warning..
Thanks..
no batterystats.bin
Hi Guys/Gals,
I envy you I don't have the batterystats.bin file and I don't have any folders or files inside /data. I also have search the said file in vain. I have the default OS which is 2.2/2.3. Any ideas why is this so? Or is there any other way to totally wipe out the battery stats? TIA(thanks in advance)

It shouldn't be able to be done on a stock phone...nor should it be needed. You need root to see the data\system folder which contains batterystats.bin
I've read somewhere that wiping your battery stats is useless, because that's what all roms do on reboot... is it true?
Anyways, I've flashed several roms and haven't had any battery issues.

Multiple posts on the subject .
Wiping battery stats does nothing for your battery .
Recalibration is via the battery itself after a few charges .
Nothing to stop anyone wiping the stats .
But read

Ah, that's what i thought Thanks for the post.
Does it matter to wipe battery stats after flashing a kernel, then doing a bump charge? ...Just to recalibrate it, and get an accurate read.
I've never wiped battery stats since I've had this phone.
Evo SHIFT
I only wipe after major changes. Stuff that would effect performance a lot

No, it doesn't matter to wipe battery stats after flashing kernel. It only matters when the /data/ partition gets wiped, because that's where the battery stats file is stored. That only means whenever you do factory reset, which wipes /data/ of course

Yes it helps. Here's a good guide for Battery Calibration.

So basically when flashing a new ROM, I would do a full wipe, and that too would erase battery stats?
I don't let my phone die fully, charge it completely, or even bump charge it after I do a full wipe. Should I start doing that?
Evo SHIFT
If you're flashing an updated version of the same ROM over the old version, you usually don't have to wipe, and don't have to do anything with battery stats. I think if you do a full wipe and flash a new ROM, try to do it when your battery is full. If not, just charge it to full and wipe battery stats later. Bump charging is debatable, and up to you.
I have a question about wiping battery stats, I managed to soft brick my rom so I reflashed to stock. Should I wipe battery stats again just like installing custom roms or no?

no.
theres actually nothing you need to wipe the battery stats for. its more of a choice if you want to wipe them. it doesnt affect anything when flashing/reverting.
Hello !
I installed Pardus ROM yesterday, but had this problem even before... And don't know what to do !
I kind of never use Bluetooth. Or, when I use it, I let it on for 5 minutes, then turning it off.
But ! That's quite strange, but even off, it still drains my battery !!!
Just look at this !
41% of the battery consumption ! Insane !
But
What should I do ?
Thanks !

What's your flashing regime? Clean install? Needs to be.
(Note that on Stock KK there is a reporting error that shows BT using between 3 and 6% of battery usage (NOT used) which is "normal". It isn't drain. What you have is not normal though!)
You're right... The Bluetooth drain was 6-7% when I was on Kitkat, and I thought it wasn't normal... Seems it was !
So it's just on Pardus that I have a problem !
I used the Philz recovery's special functionality : "Clean to install a new ROM". It wiped some partitions, but not all (if I do remember, it wiped system, data, cache only). Not the SD partition !
Should I wipe everything and flash it again ?

Hmmm.... not familiar with Pardus. If you wiped cache, dalvik, system and data you should be OK.... wiping the SD Card is good practice but not always feasible due to having the ROM to flash there.
But sounds like not!
I think I'll contact the developer of Pardus, then !

Hi,
Could someone please tell me, how do i completely wipe the current firmware on my phone and flash a fresh new rom on it to make the phone totally like new and no cache or so of previous remains.
I have worked with ODIN app and i did install a few firmwares on it through ODIN. But the thing is, i feel old files remain. Correct me if am wrong.
My battery life is very bad. So i am trying to find a solution if any.

After odin flashiing the proper firmware for your phone's model
do a factory data reset under the phone's settings.
Settings>General Managment>reset
Click on "reset" and follow the prompt.
Doing that will make your phone just like it was when it was new.
Good luck, have a great day!

Thank you very much. My battery has recently got messed up after nougat update. It has become 3 to 3.5 hours of SOT. Is this normal? (100% - 99% in 4 minutes SOT)

Yes it's normal especially after flashing fresh new firmware.
It takes about 3-4 complete charges to get more of an accurate
reading of the battery's hourly power consumption starting from
a fully charged battery.
