[Q] Bluetooth off but still drains battery - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello !
I installed Pardus ROM yesterday, but had this problem even before... And don't know what to do !
I kind of never use Bluetooth. Or, when I use it, I let it on for 5 minutes, then turning it off.
But ! That's quite strange, but even off, it still drains my battery !!!
Just look at this !
41% of the battery consumption ! Insane !
But
What should I do ?
Thanks !

What's your flashing regime? Clean install? Needs to be.
(Note that on Stock KK there is a reporting error that shows BT using between 3 and 6% of battery usage (NOT used) which is "normal". It isn't drain. What you have is not normal though!)

You're right... The Bluetooth drain was 6-7% when I was on Kitkat, and I thought it wasn't normal... Seems it was !
So it's just on Pardus that I have a problem !
I used the Philz recovery's special functionality : "Clean to install a new ROM". It wiped some partitions, but not all (if I do remember, it wiped system, data, cache only). Not the SD partition !
Should I wipe everything and flash it again ?

Hmmm.... not familiar with Pardus. If you wiped cache, dalvik, system and data you should be OK.... wiping the SD Card is good practice but not always feasible due to having the ROM to flash there.
But sounds like not!

I think I'll contact the developer of Pardus, then !

Full wipe, new Rom, old settings and apps

Hello guys.
I would really appreciate an answer to a question I have.
I installed leedroid 3.0.2 and I have the same apps and settings as before.
I think I haven't done a good wipe..
I rebooted to recovery from cwm and used the wipe before I installed the new Rom. (i was using the revolution 3.5 before)
After I installed the new Rom, when I booted on, all apps and settings were there.
Shouldn't the wipe thing clean everything and leave the phone "empty"?
Or, (most obvious) did I do something wrong and should do it again? Cause there is a little thing with the market that closes the process when I click on new released apps.
Thank you in advance guys.
Cheers !!!

Are you wiping data and cache in recovery?
"wipe data/factory reset"
It will then say:
Code:
-- Wiping data...
Formatting /data...
Formatting /cache...
Formatting /sd-ext...
Formatting /sdcard/.android_secure...
Data wipe complete.
Then:
"wipe cache partition"
It will say:
Code:
-- Wiping cache...
Formatting /cache...
Cache wipe complete
(second option is overkill)
Have you still got the setting to backup to Google servers ticked? Or any other app that you have backed things up with?
Whilst the last option wouldn't be instant (they would download again and take a good 5 minutes to appear).
And yes, you will probably experience issues if this is due to a missed wipe.
So, I will need to do a factory reset first, then do a cache wipe and then install the Rom?
(i don't remember doing all these for the revo Rom..)
Do I need to do these without rebooting the phone until everything is done?
Cheers !!!

Yes, you should always do the "wipe data/factory reset" before installing any new ROMs or if the dev has advised it, also between major update revisions.
You don't need to reboot. If using recovery to install the ROM just do the wipes then flash the ROM using menu.
Awesome. Thanks for the help.
Will try it now and I hope everything goes well. Hope I won't get stuck since am not in front of my pc.

Well, I did it again. Everything wiped out, started as new.
But still, new apps in market and battery history in spare parts give me a process termination...
Oh well, I guess that Lee will release an update.
Oh, something else I would like to ask. There is a new kernel for the Rom. Do I flash it the same way I flash everything? Through recovery?
Thanks again guys
Cheers !!!

I use Leedroid and don't have this problem. Today I have installed from scratch and gone back and forth between ROM's. i turned off all the processes that backup and restore apps and I get a blank fresh install.
I have to ask, the last time you installed Leedroid, did you use the downloaded one or a copy from your sdcard? is it possible you are restoring a copy rather than flashing a fresh copy?
And you don't have any apps that have backed up your apps such as Titanium? And you have turned off Google Backup and restore feature?
The thing is, it is handy not to lose data but we need to make sure your wipe is being done. Did you see the same messages in Recovery as I showed above?
gosh, it is sooooooooooooo weird...
i did it all again. factory reset, delete cache, installed the 3.0.3 version (which was released today).
everything seemed to go smooth. still, i went to market and clicking on the newly released apps list i get an error which is "com.android.vewnding" has been shut blah blah blah. and the same happens to spare parts. when i click battery history ""com.android.spare_parts" shuts down.
do you guys think it has to do with the kernel? should i flash lee's kernel (i couldn't find how to. i mean, shall i do it from the cwm recovery?)
i guess that the radio has nothing to do with all these, does it?...
thank you guys once again for your help
Cheers !!!

You have tried fix permissions in ROM Manager, yes?
eeeeeeeeeerm.... you got me. that is something i totally forgot to do :-(((
gosh.. i flashed the radio, sweet. tried to flash a kernel using jkoljo's tool and it stayed on the white screen (and of course cold sweat was all over the place )
but i flashed the rom again after clearing cache and the likes and (thank god) i'm in.
but the most weird thing is that, after all these, the kernel is flashed :-S
i checked in the phone info and the kernel is there..
anyway, am gonna do the fix permissions thingy and reflash once more. if it stays the same way, i'll have to live with it. it's late here in greece.
thanks again for your help guys, i really appreciate it )))
Cheers !!!
i did it all again but nothing happened.
did the permissions, rebooted to recovery, factory reset, cache wipe, install new rom and nothing.
i have to tell you guys though.. the problem with the market started when i was on the revolution rom. and it started just like that. one day everything was fine, next, bam. it didn't budge.
do you think there might be something wrong with the phone itself? (probably not and i'm paranoid)
other than that, everything works nice.
oh, and some other thing. there is this "full wipe 1.3" zip i had put in my SD card but never really used it.
should i use it this time?
this app should clean everything in the cache but not my files, right?
Cheers !!!
YouTube clip of how to manually full wipe everything.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCwr6Ru0yko
When using this method I've never had a problem.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I did the wipe as shown in the video. The problem remains the same. New market apps list gives an error followed by a restart of it and spare parts battery history does the same (without the restart though)
I don't know, I'm thinking of trying a different Rom even though I like the one Lee released.
(could all this mean that I have a problem with the phone?.......)
Anyway, thank you guys for spending time helping me.
Cheers !!!

Rootet SG2 stuck on Bootscreen after factoryreset with CWM. (Update)

Hey
After I read that the battery life could be improved by factoryreset-ing the sg2, i resetted it in recoverymode.
And now it stuck on the boot Logo, displaying the big animated endless looping
S
Samsung
GALAXY S II
.. and then i tryd to flash a new firmware, litening rom and I thought it would fix the problem, but no, it didnt.
I use the kernel from chainfire with Clockworkmod v3.0.0.5 + the other good stuff.
what can I do ???
edit: I try to restore my backup now
Ok cool.. the restore process works pretty good.
Everything is like it was tonight, when i backed it up.
Ok, now is the question, why does the factory reset does not work here ?
I'm pretty sure they are taking about resetting it from within the phone, ie settings, private, factory reset
Edit: It's working as intended, you wiped your data partition. Needless to say this renders the phone pretty much useless
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
ok, i made a factory reset within the phone now
lets see..
Again.. same effect.. used the holy wcm to resque me.
maybe its because of the frozen sysapps that i instandly froze with TB after installing litening rom..
need to reinstall it again now.
Damn, i would like to have a real clean startup again.. and try if anything changes with the battery power.
My theory is, that many of us have a different hardware.. like battery type or a different screen or something..
Its like the 5 different firmwares for the mmols camera..
ok, i will now flash litening rom and configure it...
ps: don't forget to back it up yo!

how did u manage to solve it ..? i am facing with the same problem also ...thnaks!
Did you try to flash original kernel and then factory reset?
Had the same problem and downloaded from xda the original ke7 and installed it
problem solved. Then did a rooting again. Hope this helps.
It seems, that wiping the dalvic cache will produce that effect.
Because in the dalvic cache, there are many informations saved how your system is configurated..
For example your google account is also saved there within the google framework and the account and sync settings in the dalvic cache.
But not only there, there are some other places to.
Maybe i will make a tutorial in a while, how to change or delete the google account, because you can't delete or change it the normal way.
i solved this with wip data/cache

Can you help me to try to solve this problem which bother me for a long time.
Thanks!!

did u formated system?
Yes, I format everything except external_sd.
wipe data/factory - cache -dalvik
- format "system" and "SDcard" (internal ! )
- try this rom !!! ==> http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=721797 ( JB 4.1.2 stable ! but no 4.4.2 ...)
- tel me what parameters have you on "performance" setting and i tell you what is the best !
- go to "devellopers" in the parameters and disable all 3 "animations" !
- try it during 1 hour ......
- and if you are not totally satified about this rom (big laggs ) : go to recovery , backup on external SD , 3 wipes and 2 format again ,restore from external SD ==> all that as a "defragmentation" ! .........and try it again 1 hour ! :silly:

Downloading nexus jb 4.1 .. All 4.4 kit-kat roms lagg like a hell, much more than others. It seems to be running on 3-5fps..
Same thing with this Nexus JB rom. When I install roms on friends P700, works perfectly smooth.

uninstal and freeze unused apps .....
what have you got on "performance" parameters ???
Don't know what is problem with P705. On P700 everything works great...
Strange your problem !!!

Can I run any log or something which can tell me what doesn't work in device when install custom rom?
Btw I have option to reboot to bootloader, but I can't, only LG logo was displayed. Could that be a problem?
i'm not spécialist about rom tests ...
you can update CWM by installing rom-manager...and flash recovery .......or reflash by ADB

[Q] Freezes With Cyanogenmod Snapshot M12 - Help Please !

Hi Guys,
i updated my Galaxy S4 I9505 to Snapshot M12. Still got freezes when i charge it overnight (its connected to the original charger the whole night). I already did a few clean installs, wiped all caches and formated all data and Cache aswell. Still freezes. Sometimes i get them from waking up my device (mostly in the morning between 5-6 am). I already sent a few errors through the integrated report-System. But ist still not fixed.
Any ideas ??? I really Need help with this !!!
I use this Modem I9505XXUGNG8

Complete wipe and flash firmware?

Hi,
Could someone please tell me, how do i completely wipe the current firmware on my phone and flash a fresh new rom on it to make the phone totally like new and no cache or so of previous remains.
I have worked with ODIN app and i did install a few firmwares on it through ODIN. But the thing is, i feel old files remain. Correct me if am wrong.
My battery life is very bad. So i am trying to find a solution if any.

After odin flashiing the proper firmware for your phone's model
do a factory data reset under the phone's settings.
Settings>General Managment>reset
Click on "reset" and follow the prompt.
Doing that will make your phone just like it was when it was new.
Good luck, have a great day!

Thank you very much. My battery has recently got messed up after nougat update. It has become 3 to 3.5 hours of SOT. Is this normal? (100% - 99% in 4 minutes SOT)

Yes it's normal especially after flashing fresh new firmware.
It takes about 3-4 complete charges to get more of an accurate
reading of the battery's hourly power consumption starting from
a fully charged battery.
