[Q] High capacity battery - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have seen batteries for the Defy that are the same physical size as the standard battery, but have a capacity of 2500 mAh. Are these batteries as good as they look and will the battery monitor in the Defy work properly with them?
Thank you

I got such a battery and it is CRAP.
Bought it with the same thinking but after that I went and bought Original Moto Battery for my old Defy Green and it holds longer and no need of extra hassle to flash battery fixes.
Buy Genuine Motorola Battery for your device and will be times better.

Does using a Defy Plus battery in a Defy make much difference to the battery life?

Not really, probably just a tiny bit more. The MB525 battery starts to fade after 2.5 years, it's clearly evident in the case of mine.
I believe walter has a fix in the form of a zip that you have to flash if you decide to put a Defy+ battery in a Defy. Im not quite sure though, I haven't visited his google drive in quite a few months.

[Q] What is my actual mAH on my new battery

Hi.
I recently bought a new Fat battery for my desire. It promises to deliver 2600 mAH but i have my doubts...
First of all, only the voltage is printed on the battery itself.
Second, I experience worse uptime than on my original 1400 mAH battery.
Third, I guess Iam just sceptical by nature.
So my question: Is there an app out there that will display max capacity?
Or do I really have to measure it with a multimeter?

the only way to measure precisely is using an app called
battery monitor widget
have it measure the current and voltage every 60 seconds
fully charged ur volatge suppose to be at ~4.2V with either battery
the drainage suppose to be the same at screen off
lets say ur phone drains 9mA steady
u should see the voltage sinking slower on the higher capacity battery
i would give it an hour or 2 hours on each battery to check the result
example:
1400mAh battery
steady 9mA current over 2 hours from 4200mV down to 4150mV
2600mAh batter
steady 9mA current over 2 hours from 4200mV down to 4175mV
hope it helped^^

This shows the mAh.
if you brought the £13 one made in China from ebay (like I did) then it's a total fake the stock battery lasts longer, the only good thing about it is because the back cover is that much thicker you can rest it on it's side to watch movies etc...!

Should work fine. Nice to know that the U8800 battery is the same as some other Huawei devices too. Should be plenty of batteries for sale.
I fancy a high capacity battery myself.
looks good...i already got an extra one from deal extreme but it's a cheap knock off. would love to hear from someone that bought this one.

i just ordered 2. :/
but it's genuine AND compatible
Hi
I have found this battery on ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOLD-2430MAH-HB4F1-BUSINESS-BATTERY-HUAWEI-E5830-E5832-E5836-E5838-E5-ASCEND-/130576493812?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item1e66f72cf4 and from the description "seems" possible a good capacity. For me if the technology is always lipo is impossible a capacity of 2.4A with same battery size and weight, but 1.7~1.8 is credible if really the cell is Japan made.
Bye
Fabryxy
Edit: sorry but from the neutral feedback of the seller seems that many people have denote same\less capacity of stock battery.

2 year warranty
Ultra-high capacity battery
Maximizes time between charges
Delivers superior performance
Robust & durable battery
Direct battery replacement
Stable and safe to use
No "memory effect"
Lightweight lithium-ion
Capacity: 2430mAh
Well the original battery is a Lithium Polymer and NOT a Lithium Ion
so there is a difference between both off them
Pretty ****ty battery. Probaply not the battery what it says.
someone have tried one of these powerful battery like the 1700mah or 2430mah one?

Did it worked for you?
I think there could be a heating issue while charging..
I don't think that there would be problems with charging, I think that there will be problems with usage, 3.8V is a higher voltage than default battery's, so it could overvolt some hardware parts.
today igot the replacement battery , its HF5X battery for defy+, my phone is DEFY(MB525), phone is charging stops at 98%

Hi. How much did the battery cost you. I see HF5X on Ebay starting from 1500-1600. If the rate is same I'll order from them instead.

Defy+ Battery Compatibility

My Defy+ battery isn't charging anymore, even in other Defy, it only charges with an external wall charger, so I'm gonna buy another one.
In my country, the Defy (MB525) BF5X battery is a lot cheaper (less than the half price) than the Defy+ (MB526) HF5X battery.
The question is: The Defy (MB525) BF5X battery is fully compatible with Defy+? I can use it without any problems?
Note: I'm using the WIUI GB v2.9.27 (GB Kernel).
Thanks!
battery fix available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647
note: bf5x and hf5x differs in battery chemistry and the top charge voltage slightly different (hf5x higher), so if you use hf5x on mb525 rom the battery won't full charge, but if reverse, theoretically can be dangerous(???), not 100% sure but overcharging lithium rechargeables is dangerous, tight voltage limit...

Hi there.
I hope is not too late - last post was in November.
I've tried a new BF5X battery with my DEFY+ (MB526) but it causes bootloops or shudden shutdown when it asks to enter the sim pin.
I've also tried with and old one from a used MB525 and it worked without any problem... What can I say...
I should advice you to buy the HF5X, even if it's more expensive, for sure compatibility.

Problem with high-capacity battery.

I bought a replacement battery for my defy because the stock battery has bulged and now quickly loses its charge. I got the new one from eBay and it has, 3500 mah. I'm currently using Mokee OS for my defy but the battery percentage that it is showing doesn't seem to be accurate because it has been at 1% for more than 12hrs now, no kidding. I have wiped the battery stats for this after the first full charge and I also used battery calibration. Has anybody experienced this when they replaced the battery?
Sent from Defy (dead LED flash because Chinese SBF)
You should flash your Phone with battery fix appropate to New one. try that one for defy+
That's what you'd get when using different capacity from stock ones.
Defy/Defy+ would recognize only 1500/1700 mAh batterys, it's fixed in the rom.
There's no fix for Hi-capa battery, you may just live with it, or try Momax 1500mAh if you like.
Try it with different battd binary files. According to this video it can work correctly.
